TurboTax 2019 issues
Used TurboTax for years with no problems.
This year would not update (error TT3013).
Uninstalled, reinstalled but no change.
Spent considerable time online to find answer. Finally worked. Can I still trust this product?

I am not as pleased with turbo tax
I am not as pleased with Turbo tax 2019. It is so hard to see the numbers. Also when i put check marks in for the election and language choice it does not enter the check. also on the self employment forms it does not take the numbers I want to enter. Maybe because it is on windows 10 is is not as easy to use. I find windows 10 is not really user friendly.

Too many bugs this year
CRA changed a lot of things on their forms this year, but TurboTax did not reflect all the changes in their program. The year to year summary did not work for the tax credits (presumably the line numbers on the forms changed, so they were not picked up.) And some information could not be entered using the "forms" option, one had to go through the "easy step" option to get the numbers into the right place.

Some problems
Some default deductions may not be the optimum ones for all taxpayers. For example the default is to deduct all RRSP contributions carried forward from a previous year, although this is not required by the CRA and there may be a benefit in waiting to a future year

going in circles
when I tried to upload my T4 from CRA , it didn't take my file , it only took my wife's , no sure why , so I end up manually entering it.
Also, when reporting repayment of HBP , it took me in circles and it was confusing as the summary was showing the minimum payment as part of my total income !!! , that was missed up.

As in pass years I sometime check a box that later becomes a test to remove it from the return. If you can't undo the information enter by just unchecking the box maybe that should be part of the explanation too. Not just ' you can uncheck it later.' It took extra minutes on the phone in a review to learn the procedure to remove form. Then when I went to print my return the form that was removed prints. It was aggravating and wasteful.

Problem with changing address/mailing address
Had to redo the entire return without importing from last year's return as there was no bug fix available to allow simple edit of address - first year I have been unhappy with the software. All other areas of the software worked well.

Predictable yet cumbersome
Product is pretty well the same year after year. The previous year import does simplify things, but the interview, particularly for finances is rift with long lists that could probably be parsed better with simple upfront questions. Also, lots of in app opportunities to send more money to TurboTax for review and audit. If the software is as good as they claim, do you really need these things?"

Not good for Non-Resident Canadians
Started using Turbo in the 1990s while in Canada. Now as a non-resident of Canada, and with Incomes from pension and interest sources, I see no value in using this software. It even provides Sudbury address which is (WRONG), it should be the Winnipeg Office.

Annoying
The amount of work it does for me is appreciated, but it's an extremely frustrating program to use.
Give more tips / explanations of everything, so people like me don't need to do external research. Make it easier to re-visit a section without having to step through the beginning. Don't give useless warnings that don't have anything to do with me.
You're going to want to clean up / modernize this program if you want young people such as myself to continue using it.

problem with CWB
I believe your interpretation of eligible spouse in calculating the Canada Workers' Benefit is wrong. Shouldn't a spouse's income normally be included in family income, unless they were a student, incarcerated or a diplomat's employee? I am frustrated at not being able to edit this benefit on your easy format. Next time I'll try working with forms.

Glitch
I have used Turbo Tax for years but encountered a small issue this year. I did not have last year's information readily available as I got a new computer.
I completed my returns and then discovered that I had to start all over due to the fact that I had not imported last year's information.
It seems that the only way Turbo Tax can import last year's information is when you first open Turbo Tax.
There should be an option to import even if you have already started the returns.

Streamlining Required
I've used the product for many years and appreciate the improvements to the electronic filing experience. Overall it is a decent product, however it would be nice if the product didn't ask you if you are eligible for a deduction when it later states if you aren't sure it would advise you later... just skip the question and advise later! I also find it annoying during he review process when it raises warnings and tips that you've already dealt with earlier in the process... this has been an issue for many years and should be better tracked by the program. I understand the program is trying to show it is adding value but this just wastes time later in the process.

Tough to download
It took me almost 2 hours to download the software from the net and I have a very fast connection. There is also no screen indicator that the software is being downloaded. This leads one to think it might be hung up. The install bar was not correct, it just stayed in one spot. Not sure why, but it wouldn't let me enter my SIN. I had to copy and paste from somewhere else. It was not a good beginning. I was a bit upset. After it was loaded, it was quite easy to use though. And why will it not let me place a negative number in the RSP available room entry? I had a negative number to enter as I my wife over contributed last year and this is the number on the CRA assessment.

I purchased TurboTax online direct from Intuit. I have tried three times to register the product, each time I get an error message "unable to connect to server, please try again."
When using, I keep getting asked to upgrade, even after clicking "Don't remind me."
Quite disappointed in the product.

Simple but not error free
Used for a few years. It guides you through the process well. Strengths are that it helps you figure what to do for each spouse. It does sometimes go wrong though. This year it wrongly suggested eligibility for CWB and I had to manually edit the forms outside of the wizard, which has rather knocked back my trust of the product.

Gets into loop...says 'fix this' you fix and warns that you need top fix it. You revert to zero and can not save as number needs to be there...
Unable to give more details about why current file is not corresponding with the previous (2018 was net-filed, 2019 is not...same person/same address...) FRUSTRATING!

Love the Easy Steps, great interface.
I really enjoy the Easy Step process and ability to jump into the forms if and when I need to. I like the interface and the ability to complete side by side comparisons with current and prior tax years.
Product Improvements:
(1) CPP Error: My wife had part time income in a T4, T4A and other misc. cash/tips income. We got this error "CPP/QPP contributions or pensionable earnings have been entered incorrectly. Check the amounts entered on your T4; particularly boxes 10, 14, 16, 17, 26, and 28. If the information entered matches your slips, please contact TurboTax support at https://support.turbotax.intuit.ca/contact/". I check the T-slips 5 times and they are correct. There is an internal error in this software for this combination of income. The TurboTax support site shows others with similar T-slips had the same issue. There does not appear to be a solution. My software is up to date. I Netfiled after rechecking everything and was successful.
(2) CWB benefit wrongly applied: I completed a combined return myself and my spouse, married in prior years and unchanged this year. After completing my wife's return, who is a part time low income earner, I found an new $2000+ credit applied to her, from Schedule 6 Canada Workers Benefit which is for low income household (which we are not). The problem was in Box 38101 "Do you have an eligible spouse?" the box has auto filled and No (although I meet all criteria), therefore the form was excluding my income (I am the high income earner) so Schedule 6 was applying to my wife a low income benefit that our family income should not qualify for. I manually change the box to Yes and my income was added to the Schedule and the benefit went to $0. If I did not check the form, we may have received a benefit that we unknowingly did not qualify for of over $2000. I have been using Turbo Tax for over 11 years filing joint returns, carrying forward our personal information automatically and this has never happened before. My confidence is shaken slightly, it would have been a 5 Star review otherwise.

Still not impressed
Forms too small on hi-res screens despite using 150% screen magnifier.
Capital Loss Carry Forward is still hidden nd hard to find after a decade of usage.
Creates duplicate files that can get confused and cost you money.

good but some issues
i have used it for several years now and it fairly easy to use. There are too many requests to upgrade to a premium version that I don't need at a higher cost. Also I get a lot of erroneous warnings that don't apply to me.

Problems
Overall I believe Turbo Tax is very good, BUT the rating I gave is NOT great because I am very annoyed re not being able to update. Every time I try it says the date base can't be reached, try again. I have & it's the same result. Also it says that you will have new cra rules completed by end of Feb. - this is end of March!!!

You get What You pay for...
An incredibly easy and cheap way to make mistakes with your income taxes. As a tax professional, I purposely use TurboTax and their competitors simply to see how easy it is for the average "Joe: to screw up. Enjoy!
PS - Just after saving my Aunt's return, the software lost all her medicals that I had input. Thank goodness I printed the summary and only wasted another 30 minutes on what could have been a tax problem after filing.

I use Turbo Tax for ease of Net Filing and calculating optimal pension splitting for Federal and Quebec.
Turbo Tax could make an improvement by giving option of automatically editing the tax paid by transferor to shift it to transferee see Schedule Q of Québec.
