Non slip update
1. I was doing my daughter and her boyfriend returns for years. They got married last year and I had to create a totally new return as a couple because I could not change my son in law marital status from single to married.
2) why can I not directly update address, language, Canadian status on the T1
3) I noticed that some fields that are blue when you switch to the attachment sheet and input the data it does not update the appropriate line on the T1 at that time.

2019 Disappointments
I have used this same tax software for more than 10 years. this is the first year that I have been really disappointed in the quality of the product. Amounts from the prior year's returns were not carried forward properly in the year over year comparatives, RSP contribution room was showing a negative number in the millions, some ' 'Continue' buttons would not forward to the next screen properly.
I like the product and am quite familiar with it after years of use just not sure why some of these problems were not fixed with subsequent updates. Thus my disappointment!

Cant register cant file
I have used your product for as long as it has been out. This year is the worst. I cant register (tried 10 times at least) and don't know if it has filed electronically. I even bought the standard as I always do and it has caused me nothing but Greif.

Good software but annoying
I've been using TurboTax for at least 5 years now. I find it very intuitive to use and it's always been great for guiding me through any eligible deductions.
My only major complaint is that the 2019 version is now riddled with ads. It seems like every few steps I get notices to either upgrade my TurboTax version or sign up for audit protection or have someone review my file. You should ask me once and then STOP. It is very irritating and makes me consider changing tax software for next year.

My Opinion
I found it hard to figure out who was the best person in a husband wife scenario to take the medical expenses, the climate rebate, and the charitable expenses and how to make changes in some instances. It would be helpful to include a guide to each year's return.

Has flaws
Could not print CRA confirmation, button did not work. Program does not allow a second attempt so my confirmation number is gone and not available to me. Could not register software and finding a phone number for support was well hidden. Support was much easier to reach in previous years. Support technician, once reached was very helpful and looked after registration for me.

CD Was Useless
The CD version of the software was not stable. The software would often not respond, have limited availability of menus and crashed regularly. Even the help feature was negatively impacted by this situation. I uninstalled the software and then installed it again from the online download link. Once installed, the software worked without issue as it has in the past.

Buggy
Asks you to import files from CRA, then you have to go through all of it because there<s info missing, like province and employment income in T4s. Ask to save all the time at the end even when you litterally just did. Frustrating experience.

Could not Register
Netfile is great.
Could not register my copy of turbotax. I tried multiple times but got an error each time after re-entering all the info. The transfer of cra info to my return took multiple tries. For spouses transfer of cra info, it would not open her cra my account, but kept saying I had to apply to access multiple SIN numbers. After exiting the program several times, it finally worked.

Good could be better
I have used Turbo Tax for years. It is relatively easy (as far as tax programs go) to follow and not too expensive. It could be made better by - improving the help function which s kind of lame. Reducing the numbers or automatically closing windows that you are not currently working on. Stop Warning/Alerts after you have dealt with them - They just keep popping up again and again.
Otherwise an relatively painless way of preparing and filing your tax return

Great product
The problem is we are seniors and have $1700 in self employment income and they want us to upgrade. They also want to charge to find out why it will not file. Frustrated

Found it very difficult to actually file income tax to send it off, help page is useless and very frustrating getting redirected to Revenue Canada pages. Can and should be much easier to complete.

Not well adapted for Quebec
Specifically, amounts carried forward from previous years are not automatically entered, or sometimes entered incorrectly. Do not trust anything carried forward--check all amounts. I have tried to work with Intuit to solve the problem through the years, but they have never managed to figure out how to change the program, so we are stuck with it in the long term.

Could be better
To switch from Interview mode to Forms mode quite complicated. Once you start the interview mode, to get back a previous section without full navigation is not clear and simple. The software would definitely benefits from a navigation overhaul.

Needs Detail
I purchased Turbo Tax this year online. It took a few attempts to get it to download. Not sure if it was my computer or the programme but there was not any hints each time it failed to download so I was on my own.
The help tab was not very helpful. I asked a couple of questions that were not really answered. The splitting tool was very confusing. I did the return using the splitting optimizer and then without and there was no difference in the overall outcome.
The Intuit programme could not find my information from last year even though I did file with Turbo Tax last year.
Certainly better than doing all of this with pen and paper but I'm moderately dissatisfied overall.

Frustrated - Cant register program
I contacted Intuit because I was unable to register my program. I have successfully used Turbo Tax for over 20 years & would have given a 5 star rating previously but this is the first year I have had problems with it. The tech suggested I download the online program instead and it should work and allow me to register. We disconnected; I followed instructions but STILL was unable to register my program which disappears from my computer screen each time I click to register. I am in the midst of sending my income tax info to CRA - I hope the file will go through .

just okay
now that you can get cheaper or even free tax filing programs, this is not worth the price. I still use it only because of the carry forward. I find I always have to double check certain transfer over amounts. This year I had a lot of trouble opening turbo tax after I loaded it.

Add on city?
registration of the software was a hassle, seems more antiquitated format than last year's u-file.. overall it worked but not the seamless or effortless process I would hope for.. and it keeps asking you to upgrade and add more money for more layers or services.. include it or forget it!

Passable
It is noteworthy that there are not a lot of Canadian tax software options. I do my father (93) and his wife's taxes with TurboTax. She has dementia, and has a fair number of expenses that are unclear in terms of write off. There are questions remaining after the taxes are done each year (3 years now with TurboTax). The CRA updates a few things and has thus far not pounded on us. Ease of use, as defined by Steve Jobs is grandmother friendly. This is not. Despite importing from CRA, I had to go in and answer questions about the very forms imported. Chances are there is some responsibility for this to be distributed amongst CRA, reporting companies, and Intuit.
The app does not account for age at all - still offering to calculate RRSPs for these folks. Perhaps a direction they will consider in the future, given an aging population, is more senior centric assistance and information? One of the first pieces of info collected is birth dates.
This is the first year I have not done taxes manually as well, comparing results. I guess that means I have fairly high confidence in the outcome - just not in a few of the answers I gave.

Biggest problem is in netfiling, when the CRA refuses it, but does not say why. In my case, I forgot to tick one box in the T1135 form.

The medical expense section is horrible. I still din't have any idea if I filled it out correctly. I had to force travel expenses into the process. I am certain the CRA will come back at me for proof of travel.

Information presentation
I've been using this for a long time but its quality seems to be on the decline.
Too many times the same questions are asked time after time. For example, do you want to download info. If I say NO on the initial pop-up, that answer will not change through the preparation. It gets tiresome when you are asked about 3 times for this.
Same goes for bankruptcy, where to report medical expenses, and others.
When doing spousal return for two persons, on many pages, the name of the person for the page you're working on is not shown so you are not sure on whose report you are working. The name of the person should be shown in the blue banner at the top to remove all doubts.
Also, some info is entered for which no option was selected. For example, on the Quebec form, a date of bankruptcy is shown (as 2019), but nowhere did I say I was in bankruptcy.
CONCLUSION - This product needs to be reviewed and cleaned up to avoid the problems reported above. As it is, I had to print on paper to verify as I was not confident that the correct info was entered for both persons.

Accurate but flaky
I've been using Turbo Tax (and previous incarnations) for 20 years and it's always been rock solid. This year it's been quite flaky on my Win10 PC with all the latest updates. It's crashed regularly, and some steps seem to take forever to complete (significant delay between pressing the Next or Back button and getting the cursor back). Quite disappointed...

Windows 7 not supported
We are not happy the Turbotax will not be available for Windows 7 next year. It should be our own responsibility to upgrade to 10 or not. There are many older programs on our home desktop that will not run on Windows 10 so we will be looking next year for another service to do our taxes.
