Not as good as previous years
The connection to CRA didn't work to input my info into the form. Investment income (T5) has 2 places to input into. Your system doubled my interest income and deleting info didn't reduce duplicated amount to what it should have been. Boxes for who claims medical expenses could be explained better. Blank pages printed although I ticked box to delete them. Not as good a product as previous 5 years have been. Question on selling stocks, bonds, mutual funds is misleading. As I redeem mutual funds (they are being sold) I ticked off the box but it lead me into capital gains, losses etc. These funds are in RRSP and thus not subject to gains, losses, etc. Question could be worded better.

issues
i have been using Turbo Tax since before it was renamed. I think as a returning user, there should be a reduced cost.
This program inadvertently closed on me just before I was completed entering information and the recovered file had nothing in it. so I had to re-enter everything. Most annoying.

2019 Turbo Tax Program
I found the program difficult to navigate especially if you are changing address information on a Schedule. I ended having to mail in a revised return simply to add my son's address on a form, because it does not allow you to change the information easily. Once you figure out how to change it, it then disallows you to re-file the return electronically. Very frustrating.

Cant Netfile, Misclick cannot be undown
Due to a misclick, the program will not allow to netfile. There is no option to undo the question, thus I have to mail.

Once you have entered all T5 info , you again get asked to enter all of your investment income , resulting in a doubling of your investment income and of course higher taxes. This section should state that it is investment income that has not been entered in a T5 etc. before.

there are some things that the helps just didn't do. for example when you ask about moving for a job it tells you a bout moving expense but I wanted to know if you can clam costs associated with living away to earn income. such as rent and such, just could not get an answer.

Glitch
Turbo Tax super easy & fast BUT this year I ran into a major problem. When I opened a secondary window such as Forms lookup, I could not get rid of the window. The top edge was hidden so I could not Exit out so I had half a screen to work with. Major bug that needs fixing.

Disappointed
Have used Turbo Tax and Quick Tax for years but found this year the most challenging . Had to file one for a deceased person and found it most confusing and not straightforward.
One example: the instruction about correct marital status was AFTER the page requiring it.

Problems
I have used Turbo Tax for many years. 2019 has been the most difficult one for me because it will not accept my response to net file. After asking for help and trying numerous times I will have to paper file.

When numbers are placed in a box, the cursor has to be removed to see them. In order to indicate installments the font size has to be adjusted. Just bizarre!

Random warnings
I'm not sure if it is a glitch but I said no to selling our primary residence as well as having a disability amount claimed and both of those things showed up as warnings saying I indicated they applied. Very frustrating trying to figure out how to fix these things when they were never indicated to begin with. Hoping it doesn't result in an audit since these goofy forms were added to my return even though they have a 0 value.

Standard seems designed to get you to upgrade
I've filed with TT Premium before, and remember the experience being a lot smoother. It's like they've scaled back the Standard helpfulness and functionality to try and upsell to Premium. It feels less helpful. Disappointing.
But at the end of the day it did the job.

Ambiguous questions
There were two places with ambiguous questions.
1. Software asked for your dividends on your T5s, and then later asks for all this information again. Users should NOT re-enter the data again or they will get double-taxed. The explanation on the second set of questions is terribly unclear.
2. Software asks about your quarterly installment payments. What if you paid $1000 each quarter - is the answer to this question $1000 or $4000?

There was a software error right out of the box that had to be fixed before using. Where to find a work around was difficult. An beginner computer user would not be able to fix this software problem. More quality control before shipping this tax software is extremely important.

Cheap, can be easy.
Always good i've used it in previous years but this year i found the program to be giving me warnings for stuff i wasn't trying to claim, took awhile to fix but the Turbo Tax community support was a huge help.
