Not Impressed with download Instructions & Support
I didn't find the software as user friendly as expected. The download instructions on the Turbotax Standard CD&Download were somewhat confusing as the download prompts on the website were different than what was shown in the purchased package. Once I had completed the download, I wasn't certain that I had the updated software because the prompt sent me to a different screen. I tried using the Support to Ask a question on Pension Income Split Optimizer and after typing my question, I got routed to a call box which had a 45 min wait time and there was no online chat feature that I could find. When trying to ask questions, first I had to register with Intuit Can., even though, I had previously registered the software as per directions given after the download. This support line then routed to community Q&A's which didn't provide a specific answer to my question, but selected various questions on T4P's, Caregivers, etc. This all took more time than was necessary to completed the tax filing. I used previous turbotax versions in previous yrs and I found the 2018 software was not as clear with some of the instructions. I did eventually get my 2018 taxes filed for my spouse and I, which is positive but, had I done them manually I feel I might be more confident they were done right.

Never ending at the end to netfile, keeps going in circles and I don't know if I'm done. Keep having to save and save and save! Don't know when/if I'm done!!!!

Do not like this version of Turbotax. Confusing to use and seemed to always close the tax forms. They used to stay on the bottom. Maybe I did something incorrect.

I wouldn't be crazy enough to attempt filing taxes on my own, and I'd rather not have to leave the house to do so either. This software will do that for you simply enough. I don't have anything complicated so it's pretty quick. You might be asking then, "Why 3 stars?". Well, the program crashed halfway through with total loss of data. I would have assumed a kind of auto-save feature to be present. And I feel like this would have been a simple enough bug to catch (if by some chance the dev team sees this, I had error 112 [No Account] from the CRA website and got kicked back to the main page. Closing the web window froze TurboTax, since it was now waiting for nothing apparently. Just use an embedded chromium component). Anyhow, I guess I can still recommend this, given that I know no alternatives, and will still work at the end of the day.

Came across multiple pages where the text required updating. References to CRA moving away from mailing cheques this year (2016) so be sure to sign up for direct deposit. Sorry, but this is 2019, those references should have been updated. Why should I trust that Turbo Tax has updated other more important calculations while ignoring the information presented to users? Also, first return for my child, so we have to mail the return in, however the link for the direct deposit form was incorrect? Again, why did we pay for your software, and why should I trust that the rest of it works correctly, when basic things like dates and links haven't been updated in THREE years? Lazy.... or under resourced.... or maybe CRA should have their own application online for taxpayers to use, so we don't continue to contribute to private industry that can't be bothered to maintain a good product.

But seems to ask same questions over and over and suggests reviewing things that you might have just reviewed. Kind of confusing. And even leaving the program puts you in a loop... do you want to save, do you want to print, do you want to save... This is a yearly issue. It's also pretty expensive software given that I can actually do most of it for free

When told that TurboTax can not update the box offers two choices. Neither take you to manual update. It is a poor state of affairs that you have to go to the community to find out how to update.

A few really confusing points, when downloading info from rca, after the download and I reviewed the data download, the buttons you provide to accept the information is unclear causing me to lose it all. 3x I lost it. Then the next return I did, same confusion and I lost it again. 2nd complain: when claiming rent for the property tax credit, your form fields ask for number of months then a rent amount. It is not clear that the annual amount for the rent should be entered or monthly, in fact, the number of months field implies that it is a monthly rental amount that you are looking for. However, if I actually look at the form view, the amount is clear that it is per year. 3rd complaint, You are always pushing to upgrade. I have the standard version, which is already above the basic. One of these returns could not be more basic and still you push to upgrade, because of $8.00 of bank interest, not even enough for a T5 to be issued. Please fix for next year.

I have used TT for about ten years. This is the second time I used CRA's Autofill. This year it was more difficult as Autofill downloads the capital loss /gains but TT does not tag them as such, and if they are not identified as such, Netfile won't work so had to go and add the designation "capital gains" to close to a 100 entries and that is very awkwardly set up, as, after each entry, the software would go back to the TOP of the column forcing one to find where one had left off. (I actually manually recorded an amount so I could find my place again where I had left off). Won't use Autofill next year.

While TT seems to be the best tax software out there, there are too many annoyances for something you pay for over and over. You must choose between forms or easy step method. While forms is better if you are knowledgeable, you are then denied some help from easy step for no good reason. TT also seems to go out of the way to make its contact number hard to obtain leaving you dependent on a forum - not reassuring. Moreover, TT does not download all CRA slips so be careful. In sum, I use it but the experience could be better.

While I am used to Turbo Tax Standard being an excellent product, I found it frustrating to try to print my Quebec return without it having a watermark saying Duplicate Not for Mail. I found no workaround.

I could not follow some of the program's logic. My son had a RESP T4A and the program insist that it is from a business operation.

Every other year I have had great success. this year the program wouldn't update, not by clicking update and not by downloading a file and trying it that way. Once that wouldnt' work it would let me netfile my last returns. Very frustrating !!!!!!

I've been using Intiut's tax program for years, and I'm sure I'll use it again next year, but it isn't without its flaws.This is the second year that I have found TurboTax asks you to input information that you specifically said did not apply to you in the profile. Also if you accidentally select something in the profile, it sometimes requires starting a totally different return to clear the problem. Last year my son was a married firefighter simply because he wanted to know what deductions a firefighter received. Not sure how he got married. Clearing the boxes did not remove the claims.

Both Netfile and Print would not work in late March and early April, but it worked today just before the deadline. Was stuck and couldn't do anything. Many calls to find the problem, were answered by an electronic system. No human voice available.

Info transfer from previous years is not all that convenient, only transfers basic info. Lack of information in help fields such as what qualifies as a certain deduction. i.e. the help field just repeats what was said in the program. Warnings and tax savings tips are annoying in that if I have told you once that I don't qualify, then remember that statement and stop asking me every time I go to a new screen. Save me more time by looking at the household income and straight up use the computing power at my fingertips to tell me I don't qualify for any grants etc. rather than wasting my time filling out the forms to find out that I don't at the end.

This program seems to work well until you have completed filing the return. It asks you if you wish to save the return, then if you wish to print it. It then has advertising for an investment company. Finally when it asks you if you want to start another return, it takes you back to saving and printing the return. This is frustrating.

I've been using Turbo Tax and it predecessors for many years, and always use the "Forms" input process. Using the "Review" feature, the program, somehow, caused me to create two Principal Residence Disposition forms. Now, trying to get rid of one of the forms is a real pain. The program won't let you delete the info on the second form. After much searching on line and talking with a Turbo Tax rep, the only way is to go through the whole "Easy Step" process, and make the deletion when you get to this part. This is extremely annoying and should be fixed; so that you can make the change in "Forms View"!

charging extra for the medical and donations optimizer is ridiculous (not included in the standard package). Some of the free software offers just as much as the standard package of Turbo tax but with no charge.

Doing my return with TurboTax went well, except for registering the product. The window was cut off at the left and I had to make the font smaller on my screen to see it all. The letters then became too tiny and light to read. I have slight vision loss, but could read the rest of the return just fine. Please fix that registration box!

I have been using turbotax for years. It has worked well but this year the 2018 program did not allow for performing the Quebec tax transfer. Customer support was of no help and unreachable on the last weekend before the deadline. Overall this soured my experience. Spent days on my own trying to figure out how to bypass the error. Not sure if I will take the chance with using turbotax again next year.

I mistakenly selected to print a copy for my files. TurboTax printed all the unnecessary, blank, informational or instructional forms. These are all unnecessary for my files. A HUGE WASTE OF PAPER AND PRINTER INK!

You cannot pull up the worksheet on the 2018 Turbo program to review. I could not locate the Schedule 1 worksheet to review the calculations of line 301.
