Frustrating
When trying to Netfile CRA had error messages that did not match Turbo Tax. Not sure if CRA or Tubo Tax is at fault. Turbo Tax has NO customer service to help resolve issues.

UPdate problems
The program used to automatically update. Now I get runtime errors everytime I open it and have to do the manual update each time so I am not happy this year.

Crashed
Finished entering all info and got all the way to Netfile and the program stopped working and would not restart. Online phone help was useless. Had to restart from scratch.

Expensive, confusing
Why do you make Standard package for 8 people, when average family size is 3?
Help you provide is so primitive-just pertaining to software!
Software does not help save tax, just want to generate more revenue for the TurboTax!.

Program Diminishing in Quality
Problem this year with the program not updating itself at all and having to go to the website every time you open it is not appreciated. Generally getting less information in this program and having to go to Revenue Canada to get basic information is also not great.

update problem
Have used quick tax and turbo tax for 15 to 20 years and this is first year of trouble - no automatic updating as in the past - caused a lot of heart aches for me and many others.
This year the showing active pages with step by step was a great addition.

Good but getting worse
Still the only tax product I know with the power to handle my return (have to have direct access to forms) However, in the past few years things do not look so good. T1135 support was slow and is still not great. If you need more than 3 lines for you portfolio (easy without a complicated portfolio) you are out of luck an must file by paper. Schedule 14 cannot be found by form finder. Mininum tax is calculated but the fact that it is used is not communicated, leaving some confusing stuff (this line is that line minus that ofher line, except it is not) Minor stuff perhaps, but does not give a warm fuazzy.

It works, for the most part
TurboTax is fine for optimizing tax between spouses but it's Help section is almost useless. I have repeatedly had to do online Google searches to find out information which I feel should be included as part of any help search!

Value decreasing
Have used Quicktax and then Turbotax more than 10 years, quality is declining, useless "marginal rate" display on quick summary screen, 2018 tax shows and prints TOSI forms even when answer "NO" to does this apply. If the program is messing up little things how do I trust it for overall quality?

My first experience
I do not have a CD drive on my PC and it was difficult to locate the correct website for the download version. Even though I had already purchased the software from a retailer, the website kept asking me to select and purchase another product. You need a more user friendly website.

easier than doing it myself frustrating at times
Had problems following numbers given when the return does put numbers in order and did not find easily. It would have been nice if turbo would tell were to look to find the numbers they talk about. Would save us time and frustration.
All that said glad I used it

Down graded functionality
I have been using turbo tax for more than 10 years. It started out as an amazing and intuitive tools to guide you through doing your taxes, it is now just a bunch of electronic forms, and you have to figure out where boxes are not filled in or correct. Sadly disappointed.

didn't fully work as intended
bought software on cd for 3rd year in a row. using same computer. box said it was still compatible. software wouldnt transfer last years info. it couldnt find the files.even though they were there. spent an hour on phone with tech and they couldnt reslove issue

Inappropriate Exclusion from Joint Filing
There is no good reason that I was excluded from filing a joint return with my wife who passed away in 2019 prior to filing her 2018 tax return ( I am the executor but if I weren't the executor should be able to create a joint return with me). The point I'm trying to make is that the pension splitting optimization is not available and the process in Turbotax is not at all helpful for an event that might happen once in a lifetime. Nowhere does Turbotax ask for the information required to "calculate" the data required to complete the T1032 and when one finds out that that is the required form the tax withheld on the pension income cannot be input (nor does double clicking on the line in step 5 take one to the field that can be input. Hours and hours wasted that wouldn't have existed had I not been excluded from doing a joint return (and next year's final return will be worse because only 1/6 of the permitted maximum splittable amount will be available.(to say nothing of the rights & things return ... even the questions below are more than inappropriate!!! My wife passed away, I'm widowed, my kids are in their forties, I'm retired.

Sufficient
Taxes were completed correctly, but the software is confusing at times in the guided questions. Too many suggestions to upgrade for no added value. Asks you to print your return several times after the first time.

Didn't run right
I've been using this Tax Software for prob. 10 years or so and this is the first time I had to contact Intuit for a new download because the copy I had didn't install correctly and wasn't showing the buttons I needed to use it conveniently, Very Frustrating indeed.

Software review
This year the product is not providing detail schedule to allow detail review of T5 and T3 entry. The navigation between schedule is much more difficult to validate and to reconciliation.
I keep getting error.for update.

Forms not available-forced to submit paper return
I was forced to file a paper return because TurboTax 2018 no longer supports the form I needed to submit. This defeats the purpose of buying tax software. I am not impressed.

Calculation accuracy
Disappointed: The order of entering information from T4, T4A, T4A(P) affects the calculation of return. Obviously, the order of entering information should not make a difference in the final amount of return or amount owing.

mediocre
there was a glitch with medical expenses. it wouldn't let me input more than one. I had to go to the federal tax lines to input all of them. the easy way did not show a box to input more than one.
