Not overly complicated (targeted/pertinent questions in 'easy step'). The 'easy step' and CRA autofill options are very convenient and easy to use.
One small hiccup: autofill entered investment income in one worksheet (INVEST-SUPP) and easy step prompts entered the same income in a related worksheet (INVEST) - Turbotax added these two values together, doubling investment income, and provided no warning. I would expect the software to provide a warning on a potential error such as this, with total investment income equaling 2x the INVEST-SUPP entry.

Too many continues...too many adds and this only 8 over $25K with a max of 20 is crazy. Because I can increase the other 12 returns under $25 up to that max. To much of a money grab.

When Installing I received an error message within Turbotax that Microsoft C++ redistributable was needed but could not be installed. Indeed I checked that the software was already in the computer and proceeded with Turbotax anyway. Except for a file saving issue, below, I was able to prepare a tax return and netfile.
When saving/printing tax returns to USB drive I was told that that the disk was full, but had many Gigs free. To make a PDF I had to print the retrurn via a pdf file print utility.
My computer is up to date Windows 10

Bit more complicated and less straight forward this year. printing instructions could be clearer- for example need to print one side as system does not separate out each schedule, also be nice to print a single schedule

For a simple return, it could not be accepted by the CRA when Netfiled, error #2115, stating that there were amounts in line 206 and 207. There were No amounts on those lines, but the software couldn't accept that, so I filed by paper. Most annoying.

worst experience ever. Not sure why but possibly bad cd ? First - cd would not automatically load, had to force load cd with tech help. Next not able to update. Next - not able to upload 2017 data. Next - not able to Netfile or print completed tax return with out update. With tech support, manually installed update, still did not update. Fourth tech support person had me delete software, download online software, update, After 3.5 hours with tech support, problem resolved.

I originally entered data manually from my T slips. Later, I decided to use the feature to import those data from CRA's "My Account". Although I thought this would overwrite my manual entries, thereby eliminating data entry errors, IT DID NOT. It simply added the new data, and so all incomes were DOUBLED !! I suggest either make turbotax overwrite any existing data (preferred) or make it give warning "You have already entered data for this item."

There is nothing more annoying than a product which insists in opening full screen (essentially unusable with a 4K monitor), then on the resize, defaults to another set of unusable dimensions) And you cannot resize until you click on various boxes - hidden in the far corner - to update the product.
The technical aspects of the tax preparation seem to work fine, but it is a pain in the butt to get the products dimensions set so the user can actually get on with doing taxes.

Program worked well unit you got to the part where you filed. after you finished one return and want to go on to the next the program gets stuck in the loop of asking you to rate and invest in wealth. Even though you keep asking to start a new return it won't let you advance or return to the first of the program. Very frustrating and time consuming!

Good program except when it comes to printing a personal copy - Why does it print 8 pages of Tax on Split Income when there is NO split income in the tax return??? A waste of my paper. Programmers need to correct this or I will start buying your competitors product.

Moving thru some of the pages was more difficult than in previous years. Had to search for the optimizers using the Help feature. Have used Turbo Tax since 2010 and will continue to use it

Difficult to compare what the program information was with the information on the actual tax return. For example, while I entered my email address as contact information it did not come up on the copy that I printed, nor could I add it. Also, I could not sign out of a return that I filed to get another one started, kept going back to the sae commands.

I found there were times where I could not get back to an area I wanted to get back to, without going in a round about way to finally get to where I wanted to, which took too much time. Also, where insert a digit... if you accidentally take the zeros out, and click somewhere else, it will not let you go anywhere, and a red box comes up saying you have to a number in. So, they improved some areas, but it still needs work in some areas. Also, the medical section was very difficult for me, as we pay into a group plan and it was difficult to find the correct spot to place the dollar amounts and explanations. Maybe I was missing something, but so were many others who are not familiar with this year's layout. Optimizing pension splitting also seems tricky to complete and didn't come up as soon as I wanted it to! Thanks for making filing easier though... as that used to take forever... and just when you thought it would go through, for some reason it didn't... so in that area, you have come a long way!!!

If an error occurred with the CRA web site (with log in or email not set up) when TurboTax is waiting to upload info, the program would just freeze waiting for the info that was never going to come. cause me to have to restart my entire return, twice.

I have been using this product for 20 years and it has been satisfactory...parts are great like importing data from CRA but there could be improvements, particularly related to the importation of T5013 forms are inputting these manually. I could also be wore intuitive when filing for a deceased person...not much use on providing a tax tip on investing in TFSA when you're dead! the programme should also allow returns for deceased persons to be processed in conjunction with their spouse as the spouse's return requires information on the deceased's return.

As a 10 plus year Turbo Tax user I must admit the last two years I had to do more tinkering to get the best return, especially on joint filing with my wife. The optimizers don't work together and I had to set up at least 6 scenarios of pension income splitting with who should claim medical and donations before I found the maximum joint refund. Since that is the main reason I trusted Turbo Tax over the years perhaps I can get by in the future with the free options available on line.

REVIEW COMMENTS TO TURBOTAX ON 2018 RETURN For the past 5 years I have commented on the Medical Expense information input and NO CHANGES HAVE OCCURRED. Why do you ask for input and then ignore it? Inputting the Medical Expenses is very cumbersome and time consuming. You have to use Ctrl C or Ctrl V to copy and paste. Why can you not change to use the mouse for copying and pasting? Some of the information fields allows only limited characters, regardless of the actual reason for expense or payment to. There are only 120 input claim sections available. It means trying to go back and combine. Expand the total to 200. Make the movement between claim sections easier. Going from 1 to 120, you must click on the arrow one at a time. The Medical Expense Worksheet only allows 50 visible records. Expand this to match the input claim section, e.g. 200. In the Form Lookup, there is no Federal Worksheet, T1-2018 to calculate age deduction and other information. There is a TurboTax sheet called 2018 Personal Information Worksheet. On page 2, under Spouse or common-law Partner Filing Information, the first question is totally confusing or misleading. It should be broken into 2 separate questions.

When trying to Net-file I received an error message the the nature of the nature of the gains had not been indicated- Capital or Interest. I checked and had designated each of the entries. Still the software error message was not cleared and I could not Net-file.
On CNIL a full explanation of all pages and inputs would significantly reduce the amount of time wasted in trying to get th inputs correct.

The support or help online is limited and not detailed enough. Tried to ask questions about the capital cost allowance with relation to a single residential rental property and it was not clear if it was pertinent to a single family dwelling or only commercial buildings. Same with the timeline if user had missed claiming an item on a previous year

Turbotax claims that the fact I had no income creates an error on my spouse's tax application and the netfile can't be submitted online. It has to be mailed instead. First year this happens! I'm already stressed about not having a job and Turbotax calls this case an error.This is really annoying and frustrating.

Went around too many times in an attempt to fix the error where the step-by-step process does not allow you to set/flag your spouse's income to zero; you must find the field in the T1 form and manually do it, as the step-by step process does not take you to the page to do this, or the page is missing this option.
