Problems
I would like to be able to print summary pages as I go through my returns. Also when printing there are to many Blank pages being printed even after clicking (yes) to the do not print blank page question.

I wish they would keep same format otherwise it takes time to relearn new arrangement of things each new year. Last years was much easier to do. I had real problem trying to print and wasted a lot of time as it just would not print. Then all of sudden (nothing that I did) it was available for printing???????? Could use some major help in printing

not always simple to use
If I left out something in the profile section, such as receiving CPP, I found it murderous to go quickly back later and add that information in. I had to work my way through everything using the Back button.

Not as good as previous years
Information should auto fill better. Having to answer the same questions 3-4 times about primary residence sale is unnecessary. This is a change for 2018, but the information should follow through the first time it is entered. They should make it easier to enter information that was missed in the questionnaire for one spouse, but entered for the other.

2018 Turbo Tax
Three issues. 1. Why can't I print the entire return without the watermark on it? I've paid for that privilege. 2. Why doesn't the program recognize I won't qualify for the Working Tax Benefit - instead I have to jump through additional hoops including adding additional lines from my spouse's return just to be told I don't qualify. 3. Completing the tax return for a deceased person is not well explained.

Continue to use
I have been using turbotax for many years and this is why I am continuing to use. I do however find the premier to be very expensive so have gone back to standard. I only own 2 stocks so can't justify the extra expense, yet TurboTax always warns me to upgrade. This year the warnings caused more confusion than help, as it was not very clear as to why the warnings were appearing. I spent many extra hours going through these to only determine it was nothing I had done or nothing that applied to me.

Too much paper
Sometimes it is too hard to find the correct forms. The instructions are to double click for help as you hover over the line item, but you don't get help for the line you are double-clicking over!!! Also, if the taxpayer says there is no TOSI, then none of the TOSI forms should print. You are wasting my ink and paper.

I found the "split income" part confusing. I couldn't determine from where TurboTax was obtaining some of the entered values.

What happened to the review?
The product was as good as ever, but because of some personal reasons I wanted to have my file reviewed. I clicked on the icon that asked for that and it said I would have the chance to review at the end. For some reason that never happened, so I filed my taxes anyway. Disappointing, but I hope I'm not even more disappointed when I get my assessment notice back.

Crashed on me
It worked fine for the most part. Unable to connect to CRA directly to import data. I was almost done filing my tax return when it crashed on me. I lost everything and needed to start over again. They never suggested to save until the end.

Needs Some changes for next year
Last year you had some options to Maximize your returns i.e. we could toggle to find out who it was best to file certain medical expenses under ... AND where JOINT Interest Income was concerned, Last Year TurboTax AUTOMATICALLY told us how to maximize the best person to claim the Interest Income up front when we were on that screen. THIS YEAR I had to physically go back, remove the income from my return and physically add it to my wife's return. Doing that saved me $22.. but WHY did I have to do that MANUALLY??? Last year it was Automatic toggle when the information was being entered in at that point in the process. Could easily have lost money on my return if I didn't know how this worked from last year. Also, when considering pension income splitting I had know idea if what I had was permissible to use or not ... Even though you had ALL of my INCOME loaded in, I was still allowed to enter in data that later at the end proved I didn't qualify. Why Not have your system automatically tell me if I qualify or not based on the Tax Slips Entered from the Beginning? Thank You

Out of date and with issues
It takes a while to get used to TurboTax. Never really sure why it opens some forms for you and then closes them as "unused" later in the process. Totally unable to print T1135 form from TurboTax without the "Duplicate Do not Send by Mail" banner across it. So there is no way to send it in by mail as a result. Painful experience but not much else out there if your taxes are complex.

Capital Gains
Walked into a trap where all of my dividends, capital gains and interest was claimed through T3s,T5s, T5008, than TurboTax has a capital gains/interest/dividends section asking to input the information agains, without precautions.

Prints too many forms
Prints a lot of additional forms this year that are not needed. This includes Working Income Tax Benefit, Tax on Split Income & Principal Residence Designation Worksheet. The program prints these even though you don't use them. Wastes a lot of paper if you don't select to print individual forms.

Not Happy This Year
The program failed to record the Climate Action Incentive, which required refiling of two returns and mailing an incorrect return to CRA for a third user. Had to spend an hour on the phone with TT to get fixed.

Save file became corrupted
I like the product and have been using it for many years. However, the 2009 Tax Year edition corrupted my save file after I spent nearly an hour entering tax information. Intuit tech support could not help with this issue and insisted that my OS file system was to blame. I was only able to successfully file my return after deleting my old save file and starting over from scratch.

What's Not Right
Print file contains 8 pages of Split Income information when split income was set to no or only one person in the calculation.
Instructions and example on where to find Unused RRSP contributions on Notice of Assessment uses a notice sample for the year 2010 which is completely different from the 2018 Notice.
Also keeps recommending an unnecessary upgrade to Premier for even the simplest of returns

Joint Filing
When a husband and wife are preparing returns jointly, Turbo Tax takes you through each T4, T3, T5 etc. for both pesons, as, compared to doing one person first completely, then the other. I found this to be more confusing and less user friendly if you have to back up or move around to correct things.

Prefer online version
This is the first year I used the CD instead of the online version...it didn't prompt me to save at any point while doing my taxes. I stepped away from my computer for a while, came back and everything was gone! Never happened to me with the online version but unfortunately the online version is more pricey :(

Always trying to up-sell but goes fast
The software works well and is user-friendly but they are always trying to get you to buy more products which gets frustrating. They will even tell you that you need the "premium version" because of the answers to some questions, but your answers don't reflect the reasons for getting the "Premium". It is nice to be able to file so many claims on one licence, so the advertising is just a price to pay for the value.
