Drop-down menu bar is a problem with this product
The program is relatively easy to navigate and provides suggestions for the user but the drop-down menu bar is very small and it's difficult to use. Changing the display options in Windows 10 did not improve this feature. This has been a problem with past versions of the program and needs upgrading.

Confusion
If an error is made the program help items does not provide valuable information. I imputed wrong data on the pension form. It would not allow me to change the number, thus I could not submit tax form on NETFILE in 2018 on a 2017 tax filing. I am now correcting the mistake and it works using the edit feature.

slipping
I've used Turbo/Quick tax for ten years and this year it was the most frustrating. It kept telling me I had Self-employment earnings, which I did not, I had to check three times to see if I had reported self-employment; which I had not. The program was also telling me that I had sold my principle residence, which I had not, and again I had to check several times to ensure I had not reported that; which again I had not. I spent far too much time doing my taxes. Next year, after ten years of using this program, I may try something else.

For Some Reason it is not as user friendly as it has been in the past.. Rent was not clearl,
you had to go to property tax to find it. Still, \I will use it again next year....
When you sell it online it should be what you sell I for to the merchants

Has some gaps
Deceased person - says no netfile & just leaves you to deal with that on your own - where to mail it etc. Quicktax used to tell you and tell you what docs in what order.

Tax Software
Its pretty easy to use, however when you get to the end and file your return, it doesn't end the current return that you are working on. The program keeps going in a loop even after you've finished and saved and say yes to starting the next return. You have to Close the Return using the drop-down menu. On the main page it still shows "Continue Return" even after you've finished and filed.

trouble with netfile due to overrides
There is a problem with filing both spouses at same time. the program says there is a problem because of an override with the property tax part. it will not allow you to netfile the second spouse's return. It tells you to print and send a paper return. the CRA only allows 5 trys and then you are locked out. very frustrating.

Frustrating
Bought the store version. Don't have CD drive. Went to website as directed. Did tax returns for family. Finished up and it asked me for my activation code from my CD version. Didn't accept code. Had to start all over again after getting assist from tech support. Never buying again. This sucks Intuit.

Waste of Paper
This year There is a 7 page schedule of legalize printed on the file copy of the return for TOSI even when the taxpayer has declared they did not do any transfers, have no one to transfer it to nor any income to transfer. This is a waste of paper, printer ink and in the case of obsessive clients will result in unnecessary questions regarding the legalize that is not applicable anyway. Similarly the schedules on transfer of a principal residence are a waste when the declaration has been made that there has been no transfer.

Same Product, Same Issues
Not so easy (more annoying than anything) Easy Forms. The forms request your personal information, but do not auto input it in subsequent pages - time wasting. Similar issues with subsequent deduction questions - why ask again, if it was already asked, just go to the value input section.

Has problems
Generally it works, if you follow the Quick Step process. However, for Quebec tax payers there are glitches.
1 - The Solidarity Tax Credit has to be filled in even if you know you're not eligible. If you don't, it causes a terminal error so you can't use NetFile, and the explanation is so obtuse I couldn't understand it; I had to ask the Forum.
2 - The print PDF button doesn't work. The PDF is a blank document. This is such an elementary problem I'm surprised TurboTax hasn't checked it or corrected it. I got around it by asking for the paper print, and sending it to one of my configured printers, PDF.
3 - It is impossible to print the page bearing the NetFile confirmation number for Revenue Quebec. I guess they don't want you to have tangible proof you did file, and you do have the number. I had to do two screen grabs and save them as JPG files.
So. It works but if you're a Quebec tax payer, watch out for the details.

Turbo Tax Help
I've used TurboTax for years but this is the first year I've needed the Help menu which to me was not very helpful at all. I had to go and search the net because the help file didn't explain enough. TurboTax seems to be getting harder to use, not easier.

Changes
I have used turbo tax for 10 years or so. Each year it changed a little and for the most part became easier. Until this year. It is now so complex and confusing that I have no idea if what I filed is correct or not. I do this once a year and do not work well with massive changes and complexity.

unable to Netfile
I was unable to netfile 2015 tax return for my son (he had missed this year somehow) because of an error code. I fixed the error code but was still unable to Netfile. I spent over an hour on the phone with Turbo Tax help centre but received very simplistic suggestions such as save and re-open, and was told the problem must be with CRA, although I could see that I had done everything that the TurboTax software would allow me to do, without the problem being corrected. I then spent an hour on the phone with CRA...they could see exactly what was happening but were unable to make the change that was needed because it needed to be done with the software. I ended up having to print and mail the return. What a waste of time and energy, and very frustrating!

Program Errors
There are two program errors which are not material to the final return but still show poor work for a company that thinks it is first rate. When reported, the representatives were very indifferent with no thanks for drawing it to their attention.

Print without watermark
I want to print my provincial tax to mail to the provincial. However, I was having a hard time to find a way to save the provincial on PDF, as I don't have a printer on my computer.
I recommended that turbo tax need to place a button at the NETFLIX to save the PDF version without the watermark.
