Pension Splitting
Where it says that if you choose to split say 50% , I claimed 50 % on both of our forms. Make It stand out more that it should only be done on one. It's there but we missed it the first time and had to refile. Put it in Red lettering or something. It was a difference of almost $2000.

The auto populate was a little trickier this year. Pension splitting did not carry over well and T4OAS reported as social services payment.

problems this year
this year the program did not work as smoothly as usual. the program did not ask to transfer data from the prior year. as a result, I was not able to do a year to year comparison. when I entered data for the interest worksheet, the interest amount was duplicated in the calculations from line 121 plus the worksheet. when printing the final return for filing, the climate action incentive did not print even though it was entered on line 449. disappointed in the quality control.

CRA information processing
When net filing I found that the questions about my CRA account and Email were confusing as I already have both registered. Turbo Tax asked me if I wanted to update, register or change my CRA account or email information. I had to say yes even though I did not want to change anything. Should ask if I have a CRA account and email.

There could be better linkage between forms. HELP is of NO assistance as it does not 'connect' or provide useful information. Much searching to find that all deductions have been entered. Bookmarks are of no use.

A few bugs
I couldn't get past a Capital Gains page with getting an error message. It did not say what the error was for (TT600). It seemed to save the info however and I was able to move on by skipping the section via the navigation panel. I hope the numbers are right.

I used the CD from a physical store. The program would not update with any forms not originally available so I had to contact turbo tax for help. They supplied me with a manual update code which I have entered and now it is functioning like it was supposed to.
I hope they fix this glitch.

delayed filing
This year had trouble with filing after completing all information. When speaking to reps for help did not always solve the situation in timely matter. Had to wait for a update on forms which seemed ridiculous since it was already mid March. You would think all forms would have been updated already. CRA told us they had all the info needed Mid january. If the forms needed updating it would have been nice that this was stated at the beginning of the program.

Carbon Tax Failure
Your instructions and ability to add the carbon tax to Sask returns was a failure. Also explanations on web were a failure. If you want to assist customers talk to them and don't charge them when the problems are due to product deficiencies.

Windows Version Going Downhill
The Windows version has been going downhill in recent years. In particular, the Principal Residence Worksheet is a TRAIN WRECK. If you fill this in, it will create an invalid set of forms that fails Netfile checking. I contacted support and they suggested deleting my account and my return. Riiigghhht! I hacked it and blanked out both PRWS for my spouse and I, then filled it in for one of us, Netfiled, cleared the PRWS forms (you need to clear both, even though you filled in only one), then filled it in for the other spouse and Netfiled. Wow. Also, the application is not high DPI aware (you must use Windows compatibility settings to get it to display properly). Also, some drop down selection lists won't load (sometimes) and you need to use your cursor keys because the mouse won't work. I have used TurboTax for years. Now I'm going to look around and try something else. Maybe they support the online version and don't care about the Windows version, who knows? I'm a computer support person who also did accounting as a past life, and currently do software development professionally. This software does not impress me.

ads at the finish are a no no
very nice program however when you get to the end your advertising gets in the way and confuses what must be done. stick to the old way or just delete the ads!!!!

Hard to Maneuver
I had a difficult time for the three of us. We have me, my spouse, and our adult mentally handicapped son. Very difficult to try to find the right spots to include him into a Disability transfer. I need to do all three of us together, and I found it harder than last year. Also, not even sure if the forms were filled out correctly, especially for Capital Gains. Had my first T5, so don't even know if this was correct. I found it not user friendly at all.

TurboTax 2018 updates not timely
I was extremely disappointed that TurboTax 2018 updates were not made on a more timely basis this year. Waiting until March 15, 2019 to get the tax update so that we can Netfile our tax returns is not acceptable especially when CRA had all of their forms ready by Feb. 18, 2019. I have been a loyal TurboTax customers since 2005 and will now consider switching as you keep increasing the price of your product but providing less reliable service. Not cool.

I always use forms and did not like the main form (T1 General) to be in a non expanded mode when switching back after using a form. Also, as my wife passed away last year, I had to complete separate returns including the use of T1032 pension income splitting. You have a programming error in T1032 Step 5, Part B, as I had to force (F2) the number for income paid by my wife and also the subsequent numbers for 2 and 3. Your so called experts did not really help!

Problems & Delays
I had to wait from March 2 to Mar 15 to download new forms. On March 14 I could not get the system to download the forms I needed and the Turbo Tax kept hanging forcing me to reboot multiple times. Not a good year

Overall good product but had issues this year
I've used this software for many years. I noticed this year it didn't prompt me to upload my previous year's return. I had to figure it out myself. I tried importing my husband's tax slips from CRA, caused TurboTax to crash and when I got in, it hadn't saved anything. Also, the medical expense optimizer kept pushing the medical expenses to my husband's tax return because his income is lower (which generally is the best practice), however, when the expenses were under my return, it was actually resulting in an increase of $35 to our overall tax refund. Not very optimal in my opinion. This year has made me consider seeking an accountant to do this for me next year.

Buggy
