peaks and pits
I was prepared. Facts and numbers were at my side. The process went smoothly and then it was time to submit. This should
have been both the easiest and quickiest section of the program...NOT. Hopefully this can be mended for 2019 returns.

Not the best year.
I have used Turbo Tax for many years but never had so much difficulty as this year. I did part of my taxes, then saved., but couldn't get back into the program and had to start again. I found that it jumped from page to page without my involvement and I had to enter items several times only to find it had gone back to the original wrong entry.

Miss RRSP Optimizer
Very east program to use however this years (2018 Tax Return) is missing the RRSP Optimizer which is very disappointing and a real miss in the development of the program.

Challenges with Med Expenses
We had huge difficulty in finding the pop-up related to listing medical expenses (it actually found us, after locating Summary Document). Although the program offers a note as to submitting all expenses within the year as a total, the place to do this could not be found. Eventually, after several tries, closing/re-opening the program and starting over again, the Summary was located. When trying to change the 'green' date in the column, the required expense pop-up (with 3 columns to start) showed up.

A few quirks this year
CRA import kept crashing TTax. Irritating updates and "Partner update windows". Would like a single page print overview to keep rather than 20 pages.

Did the job
While I was able to do everything I needed to do, I didn't find the software very intuitive. I actually found the H&R Block software easier to use but switched to TurboTax in the hopes that I would get better customer service, if needed.

Turbotax
this is a good product but has lots of interruptions and will not let you stop and start as you may want. And the mouse keeps jumping all over the place and freezes the job up not very good at all. And even this review will not give a submit tool

not user friendly as in past years
I found going to another page tedious - no information on tool bar. No Tool bar! No back button visible. I know it's there on some pages but not others. Took time -wasted.

Not easy to use
My main issue with the latest Turbo tax software is that if not using the easy-fill method, no personal information is carried over from the previous year, something that used to occur easily.

Product unfriendly
While the information is good and well laid out there is no way to "Complete a return" it keeps looking back to ask whether to print or save teh file and even when you ask to start a new return nothing happens. Great product marred by routine error.

Update issues
I had problems with the update process this year. Had to it manually after finding it on the net. Fix this please as it is very annoying, other than this issue I really like this software.

I had a lot of trouble saving my return. When I hit save as PDF it tried to print and then locked up. When I went to print it didn't ask about closing open empty pages. I printed one return and it was 25 pages and I am still not sure it saved. Never asked me for a file name.

Wish the basic which is half the price did spouses. This is the only reason I use this for. I have only one other person that can use this software in my household. It's a bit of waste of money.

Concern
The explanation for the Climate Action Incentive Metropolitan areas is inadequate. The areas are based on Statistics Canada maps and your descriptions in the software are inadequate and people from towns outside the area will likely get it wrong.

I have been using TurboTax for years. However, this is the first year I had problems with it. Spent at least an hour on phone with tech support. Software wasn't saving Returns. Tech couldn't find the problem. Uninstalled and reinstalled software. Still had problems and had to manually save to my "Download" file folder. Managed to Netfile returns.

Climate action tax benefit
The program gives a Climate action incentive tax benefit if postal designation is given such as Mississauga, Oakville, Burlington, Dundas or Flanborogh which are NOT THE CENSUS AREA designations.

Good but needs improvment
I had issues completing the filing process. It kept repeating the same step over and over until I printed my return. I saved it to my PDF and thought that would be enough. It did not complete my return until it was printed and I had no idea it wasn't filed.

This years Turbo Tax is not very good. Lots of issues. I have used Turbo Tax for many years and have been happy with it but not this year. Says forms still to be updated and come back end of February. This is ridiculous! Other programs are up and running, so I used another one. Not waiting till end of month.
