Need improvement
The help within the program did not work this year! I have been using TT for the past 10 years and for the first time I was getting error messages. Brilliant program, easy to use BUT the help MUST work...

Go to a professional instead
My return included marital changes, capital gains, and interest expenses.
Wording was unclear when creating profile, and was given a large amount of errors and warnings despite filling the out the correct boxes.

Some pages hard to figure out
I have used TurboTax for years but had so much trouble figuring out what I was expected to do this year. Where I can usually complete a return in around 15 minutes, it took me several hours today. I kept getting an error message telling me to fix an issue over and over and finally ended up going to forms instead of EasyStep so I could see the big picture. I also found the Principal Residence Work Sheet hard to understand, especially in regards to entering spouse information.

Personal residence glitch
I had difficulty entering the sale of a personal residence. Turbo Tax wanted to enter in 2 properties once I included my spouse. There was no easy way to get help. Unfortunate, given that I have had little difficulty with Turbo Tax for many years previously.

Not as good as previous years
Had some issues with this version, with quick view I found it easy to miss some items resulting in skewed results. I had to re-do my taxes three separate time before I got it right. Good product overall but could benefit by a closer look by the developers.

Disk incorrect
I purchased the Turbo Tax at shoppers drug mart on Feb. 25 2018 and loaded it on my computer the following week. The self laoding app did not work and there an error that kept reappearing on each step I went through. It took my 2:30 hours in May to get this fixed. I have used the product for the last 8 years but was very disappointed with this year.

Some what disappointed
I have used Turbo Tax for many years and found it to be easy and straight forward. This years version was somewhat more complicated. Especially when I tried to print the CRA's copy to mail; in. I tried everything and finally gave up and Net Filed instead. That worked great.

Not very good this year
It was very stressful to find out that we had to insert the disk again in order to print the CRA copy..We had to look everywhere and wasted time. Not good change or maybe a mistake.
Don' t do it next year.

Missing Feature
I have rated its value low due to the lack of ReFile capability. The product is comprehensive and easy to use. I have purchased this product for a number of years. This year I discovered a feature missing from the product. I received a late Tslip and TurboTax does not support the ReFile feature offered by CRA. Without this feature, I will seriously reconsider it valure for 2018.

Fine up until Netfile
The option to start netfile was in an unintuitive location. I skipped past it a few times thinking that "continue" was the logical path if I wanted to start netfile, not some button sectioned off above.

The program would not auto fill my spouse's income. and referred me to line 234, but would not locate it from "help". It also promised to auto fill my T forms, but did not show how. It also no longer calculates the best pension income sharing

Tries to upgrade you when it is not required! Gives bad tax alerts! Tells you check items already reviewed and taken care of. .
i.e. Sale of principal residence??? No sale was even mentioned in the set up??

Not as good as before
A number of "funny" things just didn't work right. Locked fields I could not edit, but it would tell me that double clicking would open the underlying schedule/form, except that it didn't. I could override with F2, but then the accompanying paperwork would be wrong. I had to redo (from import from last year) every one of the 5 returns I did. Not cool. Wasted multiple days trying to figure this out, and only today, three days after the deadline am I able to file.
Not cool. The above is just one example. There were others that just wasted my time...
Let's home these things are worked out next year.

Most difficult in years
I have always used the "forms" approach and found it quite user friendly. When it came to inputting amounts for a couple of things I couldn't use "forms" and had to go to "easy steps". Didn't like the fact I couldn't look over the T1 General after completing.

This is the second year and I have encountered what I consider to be a major problem with your product. If I have all my slips and enter everything at one time it works fine. If however, I have to go back and add slips say to my medical or to donations I get incorrect results. It becomes impossible to correct and the only solution is to do the return all over again entering all my necessary slips at one time. For a person who wants to maximize the number of returns that can be prepared each time this happens a return is lost. Let me emphasize that this is the second year that I have had that problem. I called your helpline but I do not think that your expert really understood the problem. If for example I enter some of my medical receipts or some of my donation receipts or some of my T5 slips and continue towards the end of the return I cannot go back and make any additions because your program functions incorrectly.

Pretends to do a lof of savings
...but in the end is waste of time.
Been using TT for over a decade, the interface is still terrible. What brings me back is that I can import last year's data and file over internet.

What's with the endless loop?
Adequate program, stupid endless loop at end of filing. Do you want to start another return, yes or no it keeps asking to save the file. And whether you save or not, back to Do you want to start another return, yes or no Save file first again and again and again......

1-On the face of the form the language box - and the citizenship box did not work/
That had to be corrected in the Review

Annoying Issues this Year
For some reason after filing, the program kept going around in circles asking the same questions over and over again. Had to close it to get out of the loop. Also a number of typos in the Netfile terms. Another annoyance is the message when you install it and happen to have the C++ pack installed already it says the overall installation fails. This message should not appear at all.

Frustrated
I went to update my t-slips from the CRA site and turbo tax over-wrote everything. I had to start over. All I wanted to do was update a few slips that weren't available a month ago. Very frustrating!

It's okay but....
Some info is outdated. I know that medical expense receipts aren't supposed to be submitted, yet on the summary it says to include them. For someone who doesn't know, that translates into a lot of potential extra work.
