Some conditions you should know before buying
We prepared 5 returns and 2 never made it to CRA even though the confirmation said it was received. They also need to have a search bar on questions about certain areas of taxes. Example what if a spouse lives out of country? What are options if you have renters?
If taking some University courses at night qualify as a student?

Works but still buggy
Overall the product works fine. Bugs still exist in the product, descriptions for new tax changes are sparse. Auto jump feature does not work in many cases.

Good Purchase
I must say, I much prefer doing my taxes using Turbo Tax than anything else however there were a couple of hiccups this year. The downloads from the CRA weren't as seamless as they should have been- some info wouldn't download at all but was certainly on the CRA website. Not sure what the problem is but it needs to get ironed out. Netfiling wasn't seamless either- I was told I had timed out, could only netfile one return at a time by getting out of TurboTax and going back in. Never experienced this before... Otherwise, good product.

Questioning My Use Of Turbo Tax For The First Time
I have been a Turbo Tax / predecessor products user for many years, going back to the days of floppy disks. This year I had numerous issues with the product starting with the fact that I had to contact Tech Support right off the bad when the program would not load onto my laptop from the CD. After that there were program freezes, statements that another version was already running (no idea why), inability to go back, inability to change from Forms to Easy Step Interview, slow opening, etc. I have spoken with others who have experienced the same issues this year. I will have to consider my use of Turbo Tax going forward or whether I would be better to go with another program.

Not able to import from the web version
I've filled my taxes previously using turbotax online website, I was shocked I couldn't login and import/save data to the cloud version of the app. This needs to be sorted out.

Pension Splitting Confusing
The pension splitting only looks at tax payable but does not include needed info on OAS clawback (mentions briefly once). I would like to find out what happens with a number of splitting options (to both our OASs) with specific numbers.

Just a couple of things
TurboTax is excellent in most respects. There were only 2 problems which gave a little difficulty: 1) it was not clear that charitable donations applied to one spouse would end up applied to the other by TurboTax.
2) Industry Codes selected from the RevCan list were frequently rejected by TurboTax as invalid.
Other than these - TurboTax is an excellent product and saves a lot of time in filing taxes.

Good but has errors
This year I experienced two errors in the Turbo Tax entry screens. One was easily fixed by fudging. The other caused me to forfeit an $80 EI payment that would have reduced my tax payment.

Partnership income & expense
The method turbotax uses to enter and calculate the income & expenses for partnership income is a disaster. I have sent in this complaint twice before, and it is still NOT FIXED. Do it now! It is so complicated and lengthy a process, it took me three days to search help (no answers there...) struggle through several different methods, and create an account in Turbo tax, to ask others how to enter the figures for a % share to each party. Not good enough for this tax product. You need to give instructions on HOW TO INPUT THE DATA. Or better yet, allow the total income and expenses to be listed in ONE Return, and then enter a % share to each partner, when both partners are submitting a joint Return.

Quality and UI/UX slipping
The quality of this year's 2017 TurboTax was disappointing. From constantly asking me if I wish to auto-fill, to font too big to fit, and netfile print buttons very unclear as to whether I'm printing yet another copy of my return, or Netfile's confirmation number, I was disappointed this year. As a 15-year+ user, I will continue to buy, but not necessarily recommend as I feel your quality and UI testing has weakened.

T5013 issue
I had problem with the T5013 where we needed to add an industry code. A list should be available on turbotax. also, turbo tax was not taking some of the industry code. Finally, we should be able to split between spouse the T5013.

Whats missing????
I have used this tax software for the last 6 years. It has been fantastic, until this year. I went through the joint tax return process till the file and print page. The netfile option didn't even come up!! The computer I was using doesn't have a printer therefor all of my work is useless, as well as reinstalling Turbo Tax onto another computer. Its not that it wouldn't work, its not even on the screen at all

Form not working
I have been using Turbotax for 8 years and it was the first time that if I would try to see the forms (T1, Shedules or others) the software would freeze and stop responding. Despite this problem, I was able to complete my tax return and my wife's return.

Pro Review
Pro Review is a good idea - poorly executed. You can't expect people to wait on the phone for 2 hours to get a service. Intuit should have been prepared for the rush in the last week of April. You purchase the service before knowing that you can't get ahold of anyone to do the review.

I've been using turbo tax for over 15 years and this year experienced lots of problems that I had to call Customer Service and a very helpful agent helped to reinstall Turbo tax 2017 as the edition I had bought did not work properly. It work better but still had some problems like file not closing when I had finished. It kept opening the previous file. It made me close the app and reopen it again to start a new file.

Value eroding each year
Good idea marred by persistent bug and disappointing User Interface.
Bug: Repeatedly allocated Donations incorrectly to lower income spouse. We would have lost money due to this without manually overriding TurboTax default entries and ignoring the Optimizer.
User Interface: Way behind the times. Navigation not straightforward (like how to exit Review - should be "Exit Review button". Help is not also helpful or context sensitive to the field being filled in, and often just parrots CRA website without any additional insight. Isn't that what I am paying for?
Bottom Line: After using QuickTax/TurboTax for years, I am now very annoyed at it. It's getting worse, not better. I will look at other solutions next year.

Could be better
I did a test-run early in February then when I went to submit for real, it couldn't find the original. I had to quit out and activate it from the file.
Then at the end it kept looping on printing the return to pdf.
