The warnings are really anoying!
I have been using Turbotax for many, many years since the time it was called QuickTax. I found the warnings painful. For example it assumes that I sold a property that I did not sell. Also if you are doing a combined return (you and your spouse) it asks you about the line 236 of your return, but if you are doing it for the first time, you do not have that line yet! So it becomes a chicken and egg situation.

used to be easier
It seems to me this program was easier and I was more confident that it covered all the bases in the 90's when I first started using it (I think it was called WinTax back then). Still does ok but I am not happy with how it handled my daughter's tuition amounts.

Expected more
After all these years, why is there still no complete product for Mac?
There are still glitches. I submitted my parents' taxes and got confirmations. The next day I did mine and noticed that my parents' taxes still had a "continue" status. There was no way to confirm no action was required so I had to resubmit to get the revisit status.
When you get warnings, it doesn't show the form/line referred to or where/what other form the counterbalancing entry should go. I know most forms and can scroll around to find them, but how about people who have never done taxes by hand and have no clue what forms are used? Still needs improvement...

ok but crashed and i had to start over
I use turbotax standard every year to prepare and file my return. This year, I entered 71 medical receipts and then when I got to the review section, I got a warning about amount for eligible dependant. I went back to that screen to edit it but I couldn't uncheck the box for one of my dependants for whom I erroneously made the claim. Then I tried to exit. The program said runtime error and closed. All changes made on April 29 were lost. I had first done the return on April 15. The April 15 version of the return is what was saved. I had to do everything over. Very upsetting!!! Why doesn't the program autosave the return every 5 minutes????!!!

I have used Turbo Tax for years with no problems until this year. I was advised to override a CCA amount, but was unable to do so after following Turbo Tax instructions multiple times. In addition, the help menu was ineffective. I even went to online support, but was unable to get a satisfactory answer. I also resent being asking for additional monies for the services of an accounting specialist. I have some accounting experience, and if I wanted a certified accountant to do my returns, I would have hired one. Our returns are simple, but Turbo Tax made things more difficult than ever before.

Your UI Sucks
It's rather difficult to tell exactly what is going on - it seems everything is obscured and that makes it confusing and difficult to confirm that what I've entered is correct.
Software is useful/makes filing easier for sure.
UI could use some improvement - navigation requires a lot of back and forth between spamming "Continue" and the sidebar.

Preferred previous year's version
I like using the forms rather than the interview process. I found that navigating the forms was more difficult this year than before. I ended up using the interview process. There was also a bug in the software when I tried to edit my husband's CPP info, as the program defaulted to my CPP info. I had to open the form to correct it.

OK but had multiple script errors at every step
I've used Turbotax for years, is an easy way to submit tax returns. For some reason this year I experienced multiple script errors at each and every step which was frustrating. I got the reviews submitted fine online which is the main thing, but this year these bugs made the experience more frustrating so where I'd normally rate high can only give a 3 this year.

Confusing
Seem to go through the same steps multiple times. I missed the check box for Charitable Deductions and had to go back. I have never done that with previous versions. No explanation of "Home energy Costs - Reserve". No idea what Reserve meant in this context until I looked it up on Google. Reserve has many meanings and certainly First Nations Reserve is not the first thing to come to my mind. There wasn't even a help item on this. I just found most of this version unclear and confusing.

Disappointing
Same life circumstances, yet it took me twice as long this year. I have used Turbo Tax for as long as I can remember and it ALWAYS populates information from prior year. This time I had to lookup this information!! If I did something wrong then the prompts weren't there for me to upload this information.

Expected more
After a few years of use, I would've expected this product to improve, but it's basically the same thing with the same problems:
- downloads from Revenue Quebec rarely work
- CRA changed their site permissions and I would've expected TurboTax to walk us through this
- Navigation is as slow as the 2014 version
- warning/smart tips are sometimes too generic to understand and other times not applicable
- the same information is asked on more than one screen
- pricing promotions are frustrating: it is not worth listening for any deals until February since they're are all sub-par offers. I would be willing to buy earlier if any of the deals were worth it

Good software, needs a few tweaks
importing T5008 didn't allow or splitting with spouse. Easy Step didn't allow RSP carry forward. Had to manually edit forms.

Issues With Turbo Tax
I find it irritating that when I finish a tax return and try to either exit the program or start a new return this program kicks me pack to the filing page of the return I have just finished. To start a new return I have to close out Turbo Tax and then reopen it.

Frustrating
I like this software except I'm frustrated with the fact that it's poor at dealing with an eligible dependent other than spouse who has some earnings. You can adjust the forms manually but then you can't e-file. Why buy the software if that's the case. Trying to get phone support for this software glitch was a nightmare. I waited so long my phone battery died.

Not as easy as it used to be
found this years version note as good as past. it stepped you through easily, however, had a different feel and the font etc was too big, things didn't necessari;y fit on the screen. Left me with a feeling i may have missed something. not as easy to use as in the past

easy enough
it worked well enough. The help function could use a little work - there were some things that were not entirely clear. i.e. motor expenses, medical expenses.
Live chat option would be fantastic. not just the live community - not the same thing.

Disappointed this year...
I share custody of my son. This year, there is no where in the software to indicate shared custody. This affects your refund and monthly payments. I had to use a different program, so that CRA doesn't think I'm trying to steal from them. If this isn't corrected next year, I definitely won't be a returning customer.

The product is very good, but to get a live person to answer a question is extremely difficult. The question was very simple, and it would have taken 3 minutes to answer it. The answer was not on the website or one which anyone had posted. Was very frustrated with that.

Transfer of capital gains to your spouse
After entering all the many items of capital gains (especially in T5008), if you want to minimize your tax payable by redistributing the gains to your spouse tax return, you have to re-enter each item one by one into your spouse's return. Why can there not be a feature such that you can simply copy by the computer onto your spouse's tax return?

Still Buggy
TurboTax 2017 is expensive and still buggy especially for Quebec taxpayers..
For example, it still does not properly copy information from T3 slips to RL slips used by Revenu Quebec. I have reported this issue for many years now and it is still not fixed.
In addition, TurboTax's T1135 form is still not usable for most taxpayers. If you have more than a couple foreign securities, the TurbotaxTax T1135 form is useless since one cannot add additional rows to the form for additional securities. . So most taxpayers are forced to download the T1135 form in PDF format from the CRA and fill it out manually. Does anyone at TurboxTax even use TurboTax for their taxes?
I could go on and on.

1 it would be nice if the file save action was a little more obvious.
