Navigation Sucks
Scrolling down on screens such as the T1 jackets stalls part way down and you can't keep scrolling down to see the entire jacket. When the cursor is in a field, you can't see the amount in the field, it becomes blank. Had problems entering dollar amounts on the professional statement and the farm statement, the field could not be typed into and when I could finally type an amount in the field, the field remained blank and the amount could only be seen when I navigated from that field. Finally, problems checking off the the box for elections Canada and whether foreign property is owned, again field appears blank, several times we try to check it off and you can finally see what you checked off once you scrolled away from the field. Difficult to work with this year and made preparing our taxes take longer! :(

Autofill challenge
Missing info in the auto-fill caused consternation since it sent back to the wrong form to correct. Some of the auto-fill also was not evident until getting to the detailed form so that the info was entered again in error (capital gains). After over 20 years about ready to use another option next time.

OK
I've been using TurboTax for several years. It has always performed well, up until this year. There are a number of software glitches which make it irritating to use. To start with, one of the early dialogue boxes having to do with registration was so large that it spilled over the screen and I had to change the screen resolution in my computer just to see it all and fill it out. At the end, after I had Netfiled my return and gotten a confirmation number from CRA, the program asked me if I wanted to prepare another return. When I said no, the program cycled around and told me it was time to file my return. This has happened four times now and I don't know how to exit the program without putting my data at risk. VERY frustrating.

a few things were wrong
The Universal child tax credit lines were most confusing for 2017 as there were no government receipts issued for 2017. This tax credit was terminated during 2017 but there was no reference to this in the Turbo Tax package which was still requesting the receipt amount and nothing in the notes about it.

Direct Contact with Intuit
The biggest unknown is the Netfile Topic. If something goes wrong your have a big problem. Neither CRA nor TurboTax will help you. Amazingly -never happened before I go into identification problems with whose return to print. TurboTax did not identify the person.

Disappointed
I found the 1916 TurboTax software's interim summaries to be misleading, causing me to spend time creating my own summary that reassured me the input information was correctly processed.

Good for people who do not know how to complete income tax. As an experienced person, I find it hard to enter in values directly into other catergories. Multiple steps are necessary just to enter in values. Example, line 476. Things in the review section should be entered in manually and not in the review section. In my opinion makes it seem like people are incompetent.

One very frustrating issue
No matter what I tried, the program did not automatically split my T5 and T3 income from my slips to my wife, despite me entering the 50% in the percentage box, and doing a combined return. Calling TurboTax did not rectify the problem, and I had to enetr each slip for each of us, after dividing all the amounts in half. Very frustrating and a waste of time.

claiming a medical expense for a dependent is not very clear at all. Having to enter the medical receipts for a dependent on your own return is not intuitive, and took a very long time to figure out based on the netfile error message indicating I had not entered the amounts.

DONT MAKE AN ERROR

Basic improvements needed
Using for 4th year in a row. Every year have issues with freezing during CRA import and all information is lost causing a restart of the entire process. Had to go through it all three times before the data stuck. Would be better if every page change initiated an auto-save. Also, each time a new page loads, you must click on the page before will recognize scrolling - this is simple programming. Right away you should be able to scroll to the bottom instead of clicking on the page or manually using the scroll bar. Will be looking for new software next year.

Script errors
I have been using this product for over 10 years. I usually buy it from the store in Jan or Feb. This years issue was a real pain...Every other click came up with Script errors. Finding solutions on line was not very straight forward and talking to someone was even harder. I found out the early releases all have this bug....Why would you buy it if it fails and why can a patch not be sent to fix it. I had to uninstall the program and then re install a downloaded new one. It certainly not efficient or user friendly. You might want to look elsewhere for a trouble free product

Ads are getting to much
I have used Turbo Tax for over 10 years, this year it was frustrating to find they put ads in the program to offer help. If Turbo Tax wants to offer this help do it once at the front end then let it go. Not impressed with the changes this year.

Excellent program. However, I have a problem to print my return. The only thing that is printed is the "watermark" "Duplicate Do not mail". No Forms or data were printed. Wasted a lot of paper and ink.
