Don't buy until February
I bought Turbo Tax in December. Ran updates in January and ran my tax return. Turbo tax calculated my refund of $6,000.00 ran it again in February after running further updates and my refund shrank to $2,000.00. Only change was updates. Had a Pro Review and was told everything was done right and that calculation errors happen with original versions and not to expect correct outcome until all updates have got the kinks out?

2017 Version Buggy
After many years of using this product I have to say this is the poorest quality version to date. Hopefully you get the bugs worked out of it. I'm left wondering if anyone actually tests this software.

Worst edition ever
I have found in the last 2 years the friendliness is going down hill. This year has got to be the worst. I went to Help to find an answer and the community is the only answers you get. My problem was asked hundreds of times 10 & 11 months ago so it was obviously a problem in 2016 also. The suggestions did not work for me for 2017. There is other big differences also. I have been using it for many years, since it was Quick Tax.

Not as comprehensive this year
Could not launch program with disc...so i go online and download. Disappointed i could not import previous year info onto the program. Does not give info about how much to claim for tuition transfer....had to look it up online and hope for the best.

CRA Integration Needs Work
Both the T-Slip integration as well as the NOA integration failed after several attempts. Either fix it or remove the feature - very frustrating.

asks you same questions multiple times
I have used turbo tax every time I filed taxes, but this year I can't believe how many times the same warnings pops up that has nothing to do with me. but really wants to make sure I do something with it not sure why this was, but it was very annoying.

Glitchy

Is change best?
I find that some of the upgrades require more input than what is sometimes necessary. If you say "no" to a question it should not keep on then same line of questions
(eg. main residence sale, other types of income). I also found it difficult on returning to the step method without closing out the return on certain occasions. For those of us that hate the computer systems and all the foibles that go with it, I find it getting more complicated each year. My smart phone is getting smarter than I am as a user.
When it comes to suggesting it to someone else, I would consider their computer savvy first.

Efficient but exasperating
I have been using this software for many years. A couple comments on the changes I've seen over the years. The product has been dumb downed considerably. Is there a reason it needs to have kindergarten size printing? Even with the font downsized, the page is larger than my screen. Why on earth did the CRA NetFile confirmation print 3 pages titled EasyStep Interview with page 1 and 3 blank except for the title. Annoying and wasteful.
In addition, the persistent registration request does not work. After selecting registration and waiting for a lengthy time where the process blocks access to the program, a message is returned saying the registration could not be completed.

Awkward to use
The side menu was awkward to use because you had to guess where to find what you were looking for (e.g., Charitable Donations does not have its own tab in the menu). The Charitable Donations Optimizer kept crashing and glitching out. The Self-Employment statements were a bit unwieldy. Overall, there was not enough information provided as to where I was at in relation to the actual forms and how to navigate it all to suit my purposes. I'm disappointed.

Ni'isga?
Good program, covers all the bases. EXCEPT the review questions tend to be obtuse and sometimes irrelevant. For instance, it says I claim to reside on Ni'isga land when I distinctly clicked the no button. Then it shows that the answer is no to both questions, which is what I had clicked earlier. Also UCCB for eliglble child kept me in a circle until I clicked I accepted that the income was not zero.
It took more time to NETFILE than to process the entire return.

Returns don't everclose
At the end of the filing process (netfile), the return doesn't ever close, just gets caught in a never ending looping, print>save>continue>print>save>continue.
Two different returns in a row, wasted enough paper.
Forced close under "File" menu but return(s) just keep showing as "in progress".

so so product this year
Have used for a long time know but this year had a continual script running error that popped up that was annoying. It didn't change the function of the program but it was very annoying to have to click no, sometimes numerous times before moving on to the next screen. The import function from the government, which is a nice idea, didn't work either.

Glitches
Bought the CD version of TurboTax Standard, as we've done for probably the last 10 years. It's always worked great, but this year there was a "Script Error" message that popped up every time I tried to open a new page while going through the EasyStep process. The error also made it very difficult to navigate back and forth to and from previous pages, and there was no display of the running total of my refund up in the left-hand corner of the screen.
I talked to Intuit's support; they were helpful - said I should uninstall the program, delete a few other TurboTax files, empty the recycle bin, restart, and then download the electronic version. Though it was a bit of a hassle, this worked, and the program performed flawlessly after that.
I'm just not sure why Intuit would release the CD version with such a glaring problem in the first place.

Sub Standard This Year
I have used Turbo Tax/Quick Tax for many years. This year I was thinking it was just as good as it normally is...until the end. I file my husband's tax together with my own. Most years at least one of us has a refund while the other has a balance owing. Because the returns are filed together, it's never been an issue. They are combined, and the difference is refunded to us. This year, Turbo Tax would not let me proceed to the next screen until I chose how I was going to submit payment for the account that had the balance owing. I will have to wait and see if the CRA has the same opinion, or if they will see it as a combined submission. Disappointed in this!
Also a few other smaller glitches such as: for each account, I had to choose whether I wanted to sign up to get my notice of assessments by email, or continue to receive paper notices by mail. There was no option to state that I have already been getting my notices by email for the past 3 years! I had no interest in signing up again...so I hope by choosing "no", I am not going to now start receiving paper assessments again.
Also, navigation didn't seem up to par this year. A couple links didn't seem to work correctly.
I hope you correct these issues for the next year or I may not continue to use!

Glitch?
Entered amounts on T5008 form. would not transfer or show up on return. Had to enter amounts directly on schedule 3. No trouble in previous years.
I am an experienced user and use forms to enter info.

Decent purchase
Saves lots of time! Quite easy to move around in the program. Once in a while it locks you in and you can't get to where you want to go. Be careful when filling out the split pension information.
