Have used Turbotax for many years. Changes made to this version were not very user friendly. Found it more difficult to navigate that in previous years.

I found it easy to use, accurate and convenient. Had some technical issues though, had to reinstall x3. Crashed when trying to register or use help button. No autosave, so I lost everything and had to start over. Was unable to register the program.

Miss marginal tax rate in summary
I miss the marginal tax % rate in the summary screen. The donation optimizer does not assist in calculating optimum carry-forward amount as done by the pension splitting optimizer.

I have used this product for several years but this year did not live up to my past experience.
I worked on this on two separate occasions - 3 weeks apart. I entered all my data on March 30 and it showed a refund of $700. I updated the TurboTax program, checked things over and added my husband's income when I returned from a trip 3 weeks later. We file separately and do no income or pension splitting - suddenly I owed $1400.
I could not find the page that did a year over year comparison - it only gave a summary for this year despite my checking off the 2015 box. I had transferred the 2015 file when I began the process.
I found it hard to get it to print only the pages I wanted, could rarely find a 'back' button when I needed one and generally found it frustrating in ways I never have before.
I was disappointed.

Lets see... 1. The Charitable donation sharing widget is unchanged from when I first used Quick Tax... remember that far back? And its still totally non-intuitive. 2. There is no opportunity to print the Detailed Tax Summary other than by cutting and pasting 3. You can specify the % of T5 items attributable to you, and by default the balance is attributable to your spouse. BUT when it comes to selling shares (in the same account covered by the T5) you are on your own. 4.When I tried to renew my TurboTax subscription it tried to sell me the 2016 version ... I'm currently using the 2016 version. 5. And as for password recovery, I got sent to a page for the 2014 version and looked at a wheel that spun for ever!! Unfortunately this application is the only reason I still have a Windows computer.

When getting the confirmation printed, it uses five pages, mainly advertising TurbotTax!! I will likely use another program next year.

the auto copy did not seem to work as in previous years. When the computer slept I lost my data and had to restart entries. My error?? The few help files I read were often not very specific and often were of little help. One in particular replied to a question and completely missed the point of the question. Progress through the forms seemed haphazard and even backwards in some cases. In general, I don't think this version was anywhere near the polished products I have used since TurboTax started.

I found that TurboTax missed the Equivalent to Married deduction for my daughter because she wasn't living at home at year end. I did't get through on the help line (45 minutes wait) and had to say she was still home to get it to show the deduction.

Had more issues this year than ever before. Needed to provide the DVD at least 2 additional times (after a successful install) once even as I was trying to print a copy at the end. Found the help function did not allow very good searches this year. CRA was making al sorts of noise over Primary Residences and Turbo Tax did not bring up any advice initially or via a search of Help. CRA website at least got me to the correct form to list the sale of my primary residence, but I am still not sure if I listed the sale properly. CRA announcements seemed to indicate we need to identify our primary residence each year but I could not find a place to identify my new home.

If the program crashes mid way thru... it only appears to save after entering T4 info and at the end when it reviews your return... Love that it crashes if it can't get your information from CRA.

The software is not user friendly, especially accessing the menu items and linking the menus to lines or sections in the various forms.

I have been using this product for the past few years and loved it, however this year I found it to be a little frustrating. When I push the help it would boot me out. I could not find the right industry code until I went out and did a search through google. If I experience this next year I will not continue using the product.

Maximizing medical expenses for a couple may not work correctly. TurboTax only considers the lower income individual as the best choice to use medical expenses and ignoring the fact that the lower income individual may not be able to use all the medical expenses filed, resulting in higher tax payable for the couple combined.

I have used Turbo Tax for several years. After loading the program and starting to work on my information, I closed the program and tried to reopen. I got a Script Error warning. I had installed the program from the CD disc and the Turbo Tax web site recommended that I uninstall and reinstall via file download. I did this and was able to return to working on my tax return. When I closed and reopened the program again, I got the script error message again and had to uninstall and reinstall a second time. This problem occurred in April and I am disappointed that there was no update in the program to correct this problem.

There are lots of bugs: e.g. unable to enter things in some fields, screen resolution problem,...etc... these bugs are reported all over the internet for the last few years, and are never fixed. Intuit needs to do a much better job of QA testing, and responding to user problems, especially on newer computers. Also, their review process is stupid. It asks you questions for things you've already done, or things they can't do anything about,... and if you have to do the review again later, you have to start from the beginning each time.
This is not the best usability designed software. BUT: we keep using it, because it's the only non-cloud based electronic software out there.

Both "TurboTax standard" with 8 returns. Filled 5 no problem, attempted the six and said I had pass limit. Checked online support, stated they had duplicate keys issue and needed to call them. That took two days as the wait time 30 minutes and could not always wait that long. Support provided new key and all ok now.... Another issue is that in previous year I always purchased “Premium”, but this year “standard”. When we filled the returns, it gave a warning that we had not filled income tax for the previous three years even though we had started the return by importing base personal info from previous year return!!!!

encountered quite a few issues this year especially in coordinating the returns. Did not transfer amounts between returns properly. eg split pension income, and income of spouse for personal exemption purposes.

There are now areas that are very unclear and put me into panic mode. In particular, towards the end, on my first pass there is a question that makes it seem like you have to pay up 5 days from then. The wording needs to be improved to something like, "I agree to pay within 5 days from Netfiling my return."

A lot of questions, not always worded well. I'm not completely confident what impact changes make to others areas requiring me to always go back through every step. Turbo Tax always pushes for me to upgrade from standard to premium saying that this return would be best done by premium, even for the simplest (no tax) returns. This does not give me confidence is the program. Standard was recommended on the box as the choice to meet the need, so why contradict that after I purchase it. I may look into see what rca has to offer in online filing.

Got a better return when I used my financial planners software. Turbo tax optimizer for charitable donations and income splitting do not work well together. Used optimizer for both and got a lower amount then my financial planners software.
Turbo tax insisted 100% charitable to me and a lower amount for income splitting resulting in a lower return.
When I over-road the charitable recommendation and used the amount my planner used, then Turbo tax would optimize the income splitting and give the same result as my planner.
Even after doing this and getting a better result Turbo tax continued to warn me during the review that I should claim all the charitable donations and give a lower return. Turbo tax still needs a little work.

We had better luck with other software in the past that had a help icon next to each field. In Turbo Tax, when you click help nothing comes up automatically. You still have to search to find the items that are currently on screen, this makes using help very tedious.
Also, the wizards were not easy to understand.

I use this software for many years and each year it has new bugs or very inconvenient changes to the interface. The EasySteps dialog takes long time. If I use forms, some obvious things are not considered, there are lots of bugs. For instance, I had to manually select the tax submission process from the drop down menu, otherwise the program only saves/prints, but does not start netfiling.

This 2016 Tax year, Turbo Tax gave me a lot of small problems in the "Form Mode". I had to keep switching to "Interview Mode" to fill such input information, and then switch back to "Form Mode".
It was very frustrating....and scary that I may lose data by switching.
Turbo Tax must correct this next year.

I really like your tax program, but do not like having to insert the installation CD every time we try to NETFILE. In the past this was not necessary.

I have been a customer for more than 10yrs. This year for the first time I had script error messages that I could not correct even tried uninstall and reinstall. I tried to contact you to no avail. The web site very unfriendly. The phone number was not in service. Very poor support. You may have just lost a long term customer.
