Program needs to be improved
I've been using Turbo Tax for many many years.
I was very disappointed with Turbo Tax this year. The update process crashed several times and many fields did not accept entries as in the past. Sloppy execution this year guys and if this continues I'll be changing programs.

ease of navigation
TT continues to make it difficult to find completed part of the file. there should be a button so you can find what you have entered for individual donations not just something that brings you back to the general info and totals

changes, not for better
this year's turbotax is not "turbo", it is very slow. Click and wait for the indicator that something is going to happen. Disappointing. little pictures make it look like a kids program. Sorry, after more that 20 years of using it I will be investigate other options for 2017...

Not as good as previous years.
We have been using Turbo Tax for about 10 years. This year is by far the least intuitive, and most confusing. Not sure why 2016 was such a bad year, but we will look for another alternative in 2017.

Hard To Use
Started out easy however, near the end I was not able to netfile it direct and I couldn't print it no matter what I tried.
Some areas relied on me to calculate when I thought the program would do it all for me.

Update Issue
Went to finalize my taxes (because I owed this year) and when I went to update TurboTax I received an error message so I had to spend an hour just fixing the software. Uninstall and reinstall.

Error messages
I was very upset that My Standard Edition product constantly had script error message: "cant find automation server". I checked online help for solutions, but nothing helpful was posted by Turbotax staff. I tried some suggestions posted by other customers (ie. uninstall, then re-install), but nothing worked!
It was very annoying & wasted much more time using the program with that error message popping up every 5 seconds.

not happy
Not happy with the changes to Turbo Tax... used to do my taxes in an hour or less - took 3 hours.
Used to make decisions re who should claim medical expenses etc - didn't seem to work well this time.
Difficult to make corrections - not sure we will use it again.

Turbo Tax - OK but not great
I've used a version of TT for a number of years, but I found this years to be quite ... frustrating. Particularly with the lack of an easy 'comparison switch' button between spouses for Donation and Medical expense claiming. Which option is the best? A full of the full amount for one spouse or the other? Partial for both? I would have liked to seen (found?) a single easy screen option that shows what happens if I add $100 to person A or take away $200 from person B and this is the resulting refund amount.
Help was a 45 minute wait to hear back from someone today (I had no patience for that). It was frustrating to get details on summary forms as well. I expected to click on a number, and be brought to the details for how that number is calculated. That didn't happen.

Glitches

Problems with Province Changes
Overall product works well. It had difficulty with working in multiple provinces when one was Quebec and not all as it created Releve 1 statements for all T4s entered which was not correct. This was difficult to correct and made mistakes with calculations. The help line offered no assistance and no one called me back after submitting a trouble ticket.

For some of the questions, such as language preference, elections canada and foreign assets, when I click on the box the X did not show immediately. Once I saved the file and went back into it did the X appear

The New Back End of Turbo Tax Sucks
I have been using Turbo Tax for over 5 years and up until this year was very impressed how user friendly it was and what good overall value it was.
However, this year Turbo Tax decided to re-write the back end of the software where you proceed to NetFile and this was very poorly done. it is now very confusing, you are not sure if you are done or not and it keeps asking you to continue to proceed and Netfile again, all with intent of trying to force you to accept some type of feature for auto processing your Notice of Assessment. This needs to be fixed or people (including me) will not buy this product again.

Trouble in Paradise
It seems the easy method gets harder and more cumbersome every year. I ultimately end up dropping out of it and going to the forms and doing a line by line as I would have on paper anyways. I always find some sort of mis-allocation based on the lack of clarity in the easy forms. The issue is that there is no overview for the information. One other issue is the ridiculous entry method for medical receipts and expenses. The whole Slip entry screen setup is a bit out of date. Lots to see improved in the future.

This is my 4th year of using this program. It works very well for our current retirement lifestyle. As our tax situation experiences little change from year to year, completion of our Income tax forms seems to get easier every year. This year, however, a Script Error message appeared every time I completed a page of the form, and wanted to advance to the next page. The message had no meaning to me, and the only way to get rid of it was to click Yes, No or X it away. Many times it did not disappear easily, and I became very frustrated. It took the fun out of completing the form. I did, however, complete it and Netfiled our forms successfully.

Reasonable Tax Software
After using the online version for several years I decided to buy the Turbo-Tax software at a store. I was disappointed to discover that my tax data from the online returns could not be downloaded to the standalone software and also to discover that the tax questions in the standalone software were not as user friendly as the online version. For the cost, it was good software as it saved me money as compared tot he online TurboTax software, but it should be able to download my details from my past filings and should have the more user-friendly questions that are used online as well to get full marks.

Too many problems retrieving my TurboTaxTT16 files
My TurboTax Standard 2016 program did not consistently save my tax return files (TT16) altho I regularly hit the save button and never exited the program without saving my work.
This problem was reported to TurboTax Customer Service and Technical Support.

Purchased turbotax once again
Unfortunately, I was saddened with the lack of ease of using the EasyStep, and in finding answers to some questions ... could not find answers in "help" and/or on the internet. Because of this it makes me wonder if I even want to use turbotax....or is there a better program out there?

focus on your core
Turbo Tax has not really innovated much since inception. This year the "help" menus deteriorated to un-usable. The program would never return results for anything related to the Teacher and early educators supply credit. Sad really. This company used to rock.

T5008 entry painful/RRSP carryover painful
Easy Steps doesn't ask whether or not you should carry over RRSP payments to the following year. Although this isn`t common, it`s something we need to do, and I have to chase through forms to get it to happen.
T5008 entry is painful!! I had quite a few entries to put in, and a spreadsheet format would have been helpful.
ALSO, I own some instruments jointly, so reporting my portion of the sale of an odd number of mutual fund shares reports wrongly (TurboTax rounds it up).
ALSO, unlike other investments TurboTax won`t divide the proceeds 50% with a spouse, so I have to do a lot of hand calculations.
If this was spreadsheet-style for entry, and was able to split 50% with a spouse, it would have saved me hours in data entry time.
