OK but sometimes confusing
Real problem trying to change something if you make an error with your input. Often when clicking an input button you do not know if the information was input or not.

lacks follow through
Should be able to click on any line to get further info... re: cap gains/losses, instalments. 2016 version was not easy to switch from one return to the second one. Could not review second until you scrolled through the first! Time consuming!

Not for MAC
Overall I find TurboTax a great application, the only downfall is that it is not available for Mac. So for those of us that do not want to send our financial data to intuit by using the online version of TurboTax there is the added expense of installing some sort of virtual machine and Windows.

Schedule 7
There is an error in logic on Schedule 7. In determining the amount of RRSP contributions to enter on line 208 of the return, the system, when comparing the allowed contribution with past unused contributions, bases its calculation on whichever is the greater rather than whichever is the lesser. This results in a higher value than allowed being entered on line 208.

Nothing has improved.
Turbo Tax does not get any more user friendly or less confusing as the years pass. It was confusing in the beginning and continues to be so. Do you not have product testers? For example, has anyone at Turbo Tax sat down and actually entered twenty or thirty medical expense receipts to see how tedious it is? Like at the end of this survey: there is a Preview button? Preview what? Does this mean I'm done or ?

Can be annoying
I have use this product for a long time and have never had an issue until this year. Every time I start the program, it needs to update. After waiting about 3 minutes, it informs me that I need to I need to uninstall and then reinstall because it can't update. Other than that, still a great program but please fix that glitch.

2017 Most difficult ever
Unable to open TT Standard program as loaded from received disk. No .exe file! TurboTax downloaded replacement program to my computer.
Spurious numbers appeared on Line 3 of PENSION worksheet for both self and spouse. Unable to resolve via telephone and case escalated by TT. Explanation by TT: Line is "User input". NOT SO! I accepted TT recommendation to manually over-ride. Net-file OK.
I recommend that this issue be investigated further by TT.

Lots of changes
There seem to be lots of changes to this years program. Some are easier to use, others not so much. Help menu looks for information in US tax system first, which is a nuisance.
Overall easy to use, lots of people can use one program, and cheaper.

Not impressed
Although easy to use sometimes, the Netfile submission was not clear; I am not sure what went through. I bought turbo standard 2015 and could not import it.

I purchase every year and this year found it wasn't any way near as easy and did not prompt me to import last year's information. Had to enter it all again.

very easy to use...
Very easy to use....but very hard to read....on high-resolution monitor with windows 10 this application borders on unacceptable technically. Typical of Intuit apps...have same problem with Quickbooks...very poor.

Turbo Tax 2016
I have been using Turbo Tax for a few years. It's the first year that I have so much difficulty. I finally succeeded. I had a hard time sometimes. For example, when I wanted to write the amount of money for donations. Another one was the period instead of the commas.........
My patience was almost at the end!!!

It could be better.
It was disturbing to encounter so many pages with entries to be made, but with no name identifying whether it was for me or my wife.
Often it was next to impossible to find a way to get back to step-by-step.
When I called for help nobody really listened, the conversations were terminated with we will send an email. At one point I had received 12 useless emails before I managed to get someone to listen and help me.

Glitch in software
I've been using Turbo Tax/Quick Tax for years. This year there is a major glitch in the software. Every time you change screens in Easy Step there is an error message. Sometimes you have to click more than ten times to progress to the next screen. It makes me wonder if my return is correct or will be transmitted to Netfile properly. It is also very annoying and time consuming. I've uninstalled and reinstalled. It doesn't work.

Still waiting for a Mac version
Every year I use this software on my Mac using Parallels Window software. Turbotax no longer works properly with Parallels (it keeps hanging). I have been waiting for a Mac version and I find the online version is too slow. Therefore, this will probably be the last year that I use TurboTax.

easier than paper
we have used turbo tax for several years now and it is easier than the old paper version. however loading the program was more detailed than expected and some of the questions are confusing so you are not completely sure you are doing it right. overall it is good value. it seems to get to CRA eventually.

Very poor system.
The program led us in circles. When we asked for information on something, it gave it, but no link to the actual input. You have to know what to ask and look for, which is the opposite of what such a program should do.

Maybe free online is as good?
Just a comment re medical claims. Hard to determine which spouse is better to claim on when reasons are not given. I fiinished without being certain I made the right choice.
There is no Enter to this rating window, so who knows whether it will go anywhere.

What di I buy for next year?
After completing two returns, the product refused to allow me to continue saying that the product was not updated and not approved.
I finally loaded my copy on to another computer and was able to continue. I know that I was not the only one with this problem. Since we have a fixed deadline to submit our taxes you would think that the company would either this problem or send us a notice.
I have used this product for 5 years and next year I will have to find a new program.

Quality Decreased
Quality of Standard decreased: Previously when the Rental Property form was used, the Partner's form was automatically filled with the appropriate %. In the 2016 version No More.
Support told me that now you have to buy the Premium version to have this functionality.

Not so simple
I could not get the auto fill from gov't website.
Tax saving hints were not easy to understand, explanations were general.
When I purchased the software I was told that professional assistance was always available, what they failed to mention was that it would cost extra.

Optimizer Functions are less than optimal
Turbo tax's easy step interview claims to be suited to a non-professional tax preparer. If I had no previous experience in tax preparation, I would have made a large error using the medical expense optimizer. TurboTax advised claiming all medical expenses on the lower income spouse's return, not recognizing that if the lower income spouse has zero taxable income, the medical expense claim goes to waste.

Disappointment
I have used Intuit/Turbo for many years and have always been impressed with the way the program un-complicated the Income Tax Return, however, this year I found that the new format caused it harder to follow my progress.
In previous years, the little box in the top left hand corner was very helpful to understand the impact of the various inputs.
I also miss the ability to print the comparison reports.
