Hard to go back once you've added things
I like it, very quick and easy, but if you are unsure of something, fix it before you move on or it is impossible to find again.

Glitchy
I found that there were so many js errors that it was neary impossible to use this years software. Also, at times it asks you to go back and change a response in easystep to continue, but the default that needs to be changed is actually FORWARD in easystep. It literally took me an hour to figure this out. This was the BC back to school credit for children. It automatically sets the default to "YES" instead of no. When you first enter the process it gives you a list of check boxes for eligible claim items, and if you uncheck the one for the back to school credit and you have what it considers an eligible dependant, you'll get an impassible error. The key is to check the box as if you are going to claim it, proceed a few steps forward until you can answer no, go back a few steps, uncheck the box and the error will go away. Lousy.

Does Not Display Properly on New Laptop
After using TurboTax for many years with Windows 7, this year I got a new laptop running Windows 10. When I opened a return using the Forms method, the toolbar at the top of the page and the Tax Slips button and other buttons at the bottom of the page were microscopically small and unusable. 45 minutes on the phone with Customer Support did not give any help at all. I eventually found out that I needed to change the screen resolution on my laptop (something Customer Support should have known, since this has been an issue with other Intuit software in other years). But even after finding the best screen resolution, I still find the tool bar and buttons display at a smaller size on the new laptop compared to the old one. That size is too small for me, so I'll be looking for other tax software that is easier to see on the new laptop. (Note: the zooming function in Turbotax works only on the text in the forms, not on the toolbar or buttons)

Simple tax returns okay
This is okay for people with simple tax returns. However, if you have a tax return that has just a little more than simple this does not work well. Being disabled , I found that this was not very good at all. I used the search and help functions to get more information and it did not work at all. I ended up looking on-line for my information and then trying to find out how to retrieve the correct forms to complete my return. This is not even a complicated tax return but it was almost horrible to complete.
I think turbotax should have their help function to actually help customers

Disappointed
Rather than improvements year over year the product remains stagnant or removes features. The graphical summary no longer displays marginal tax rate but continues to display the useless average tax rate. The application continues to ignore the wide spread use of high resolution large screen displays making it difficult to read the unsalable fonts. There are also annoying pop ups that cannot be disabled. I check a box saying do not show again and the next return shows the same pop up.

For the past 5 years I have commented on the Medical Expense information input and NO CHANGES HAVE OCCURRED. Why do you ask for input and then ignore it? Inputting the Medical Expenses is very cumbersome and time consuming. You have to use Ctrl C or Ctrl V to copy and paste. Why can you not change to use the mouse for copying and pasting? Some of the information fields allows only limited characters, regardless of the actual reason for expense or payment to. There are only 120 input claim sections available. It means trying to go back and combine. Expand the total to 200. Make the movement between claim sections easier. Going from 1 to 120, you must click on the arrow one at a time. The Medical Expense Worksheet only allows 50 visible records. Expand this to match the input claim section, e.g. 200. In the Form Lookup, there is no Federal Worksheet, T1-2016, to calculate age deduction and other information. There is a TurboTax sheet called 2016 Personal Information Worksheet. On page 2, under Spouse or common-law Partner Filing Information, the first question is totally confusing or misleading. It should be broken into 2 separate questions.
Next year, I may consider using another software for Income Tax return because you ask for input and then ignore it.

MAKE EDITING SIMPLER
I FIND THAT WHEN I WANT TO GO BACK AND CHANGE DATA IT TAKES A BIT TO FIGURE OUT EXACTLY HOW TO GET TO THE EDIT PART. I DO USE THE SUMMARY IN THE LEFT MARGIN BUT THAT DOES NOT BRING ME DIRECTLY TO THE FORMS. ONCE I'M THERE IT IS EASY ENOUGH TO ADD AND EDIT .
ALSO, I HAD TO USE ANOTHER COMPUTER THIS YEAR, SO I HAD TO TRANSFER ALL 2015 RETURNS BY MEMORY STICK. I TRIED HOME NETWORKING BUT THAT GOT MESSY.

Turbotax fails to explain how important it is to set up your profile correctly as it dictates what forms need to be completed. The small window summarzing your tax return is gone. The GUI is back to what is was 5 years ago. No real improvement.

Not as good as previous years
This year's version was not as good as previous years. The questions asked in each Easystep section were confusing and it was easy to overlook something you should have entered. Also, the final summary did not come up automatically during Easystep. I had to click on the summary explicitly to see it. I would only recommend it to previous TurboTax users.

Tax Time Again
Turbo Tax could be more straight forward. But, all in all, it is easy enough to use. Taxes are always frustrating but the computer does the calculating for you and so far has always been correct. I just wonder where the numbers go and if they are going where they should.

Circular Ending when done
When I get to the end of the taxes, I find myself in an endless loop where it goes around and around...I don't want to net file yet, nor do I want to print and I have not filed so I'm not "done with filing"..... I'm in Turbo Tax purgatory!
There is no suitable option. If I hit done with filing I end up closing the file - and that's not what I want... so please give another option that does not close the file.

Issues
I have used Turbo Tax for many years but this is the first time I became so frustrated that I almost went to another program. The one issue I had was trying to correct Medical Expenses. The program would not zero out an error and remove it from the summary. I could change the number but not remove. Very strange glitch.

i feel this program was better in the past years. it is more difficult to find some deductions and you are not even prompted to find some with the easy file system. It has not improved.

Changes to your program
I have found that this years version of the tax program is not well thought out. I first noticed this when I started to input our tax returns.
I have been using Quick Tax/ Turbo Tax for the last 11 years. This was the first time that the program wouldn't import the basic personal information from previous years. This had to be done manually.
I also had to use the Help to find where I was supposed to input data from a tax slip. It was not clear at all when I did the first run through, it didn't ask the right questions to allow me to know where the information was supposed to be entered.

Disappointed this year with TurboTax
Anytime a tax software has a calculation error in it AND there is no way to talk to someone on the phone about the software glitch without having to pay for the "privilege", I become hesitant to use it, wondering what other glitches there may be that I have not uncovered. I am certainly not prepared to pay to tell the vendor that their product has a problem!
Nor would I recommend TurboTax again until a better support system is in place.

Mac users use free online
I purchased the downloadable version and then found out the online version is the right one for Mac users. They should have a dialoque box which makes the buyer confirm their operating system prior to purchase or at least make the purchaser aware they are buying a windows based product. Unacceptable!

Not as easy as it seems
I have use this product since before it was this product and have had reasonably good results. It was a bit tedious inputting data at times however I was able to complete the task in relatively reasonable time.
Not this time. All the GUI's are nice to look at but it is never clear what is already recorded and what is missing. After about 4 hours of wrestling, I went to the page by page input with finally finishing after 6 hours work.
These are not highly complicated returns, we are retired and have some RRSPs as well as my wife works part time. Not all that tough. Still it took me for ever to finish. I am not a wiz kid on computers and prefer to use form formats so the GUI's just got in the way.
That being said, once I did get all the data input and I was satisfied with it, the filing was a breeze.
I was a little confused by the 'optimization' sub routines in that when I used them my tax return amount was REDUCED by 15 to 20%.
So, when you use the program, WATCH the "Total Refund" box as you input or change.
Overall, still a valuable program for dealing at arms length with the kids in Ottawa.

Good for beginners
The software is pretty easy to use. If you have a complex return or prefer to guide yourself I would not recommend the product. If you have an easy return or limited tax knowledge, this will do it for you quickly.

Not happy with this years program
Found this years forms easy to fill out but ran into problems printing out the forms. It printed out blank forms even when I told it not to plus it printed duplicates or triplicates of certain forms.

Recommended with Cautions
Very, very easy to use, but with glitches. The problem I had in 2016 was that Turbotax doubled up on a dividend that I entered and there was no way to reverse it. I had to abandon the entire return and start a new one. The new return worked well and I filed without further problems.
