Nice to have, but some difficulties
I have used TurboTax for years and will continue as it is great value for money. However for 2015 I found it difficult to use 2 features: changing from separate to combined returns with my spouse; and using the split pension feature for the other return - the return for receiving the split amount. The feature works well for the return splitting the pension amount, but not for the other. I hope this gets fixed for 2016.

didnt efile
Filled out in April and thought net filed but the government didn't receive so had to do again.
Thought might of found info and resend but couldn't and had to redo all numbers.
Did on library computer so was difficult.

Bug in manitoba tuition rebate
There is s bug in the software for Manitoba Graduate's Tuition Fee Income Tax Rebate
turbotax forms shows the correct year and cumulative tuition fees, but does not recognized them regardless of being entered via easystep or the T1005 form. It says I have to fix the problem by "You must enter the year you graduated and the eligible tuition fees". NETFILE cannot proceed with this error. I will have to print and mail the form.

somewhat disappointed
I have filed mine and my spouses taxes. With two 18 month old twins, we still have to pay $6000 in taxes which seems wrong to everyone I spoke with. Unfortunately I don't have the time to cross reference this number with an actual tax professional. So I remain skeptic that the program got the full value out of my return and if it wasn't for the fact that I file so late, I would have dropped this program and ate the cost so I could take my return to a tax professional. Unfortunately now I have to file the $6000 payment and try to find out how AFTER its filed. My fault for waiting so long to get it done.

Excessive self promotion.
Excessive self promotion within the software. I understand the desire to promote your other products and third party services. I just don't like having to click through them in order to finish filing my taxes. I will be considering alternatives for future filings.

Turbo tax
Turbo tax is fairly easy to use but it is not clear in some cases. For instance when I clicked netfile it gave me three options. The first option was my name and the next two were more clear (2 I want to print form, 3 done with filing) I had no idea what my name meant in the context I was in (I assumed it would just take me back to my form which would not accomplish my goal of netfiling) so I clicked option 3 which didn't say done with netfiling, if it had I would not have choose that option. A couple of days after I thought I had filed, I realized I had not received confirmation from CRA so I open my tax form again and again clicked netfile and this time I choose my name this time since neither of the other two options seemed make sense or work. I immediately got started on the right path and got a confirmation # from CRA.
Options 1 and 3 should be reworded and clarified for minds like mine.

Going downhill
The Easy Step method looked just fine last year. The new 2015 interface is harder to read - most of a page's info does not fit on a screen, requiring scrolling and hunting.

too much advertising
Too much advertising in this product and pushing for unnecessary upgrades. I spent my money on the product I needed, stop trying to get me to spend more money than necessary!

Frustration
I have been using this software for many, many years since before Turbo Tax bought it. It annoyed the daylights out of me some years ago when they limited the number of returns to 4 or 5. I am equally annoyed the last couple of years because I want the ability to print the return whenever I want not when you think I should!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Good, but Windows only
I have used TurboTax for many years & while I found it easy to use in the past, this year was more challenging: I have switched to Os X & there is no TurboTax for Mac.
Yes I could use the on-line version, but I like the desktop version. It's important for me to have the SW that I use to prepare my taxes on my computer (in case I need to open the previous years tax files.
So if you are looking for tax software for windows this is a 5 star software, but if you want to run it on the mac it takes more effort & you may want to look at something else.

Moving between forms and easy guide
Watch out for moving between forms view and the turbotax easy guided user interface. Make sure you SAVE before and when in forms view it does not allow you to save or easily get back to the easy use guided tour.

misleading for new user
the box says that it can import last year's data from other tax software but it can't. disappointed as I had to find past records for input. found this difficult as some records needed were prior to 2007

Never again
The Quebec renovation credit doubled the credit due, and we were unable to override it.
Unable to access spouse refund to cover amount payable, had to over-ride making it ineligible to efile. Had to incur costs to mail and track.

I thought this was feed back. this is community- sorry people, I was hoping for turbotax to fix this.
I did the survey against my better judgement hoping there was a box to ask this. Having used Turbo tax for at least 10 years and every year having carry forward of Donations and every year having to do work around, this year I had time to chat then was transferred to 2 different people before getting a work around requiring me to input all the slips again. Please fix for next year.

Medical Expenses Optimizer
Medical exp. optimizer doesn't always apply calculated amount and it didn't really optimized, but lowered our refund for about 100 bucks. I went back and forth to return the original refund amount and only after 45 minutes of clicking it finally accepted my selection.

Won't buy again after 10 years of use
Last year I had issues with the software, and forgot about it as in previous years I always had a glowing review. Bought again this year, and issues are worse.
1) I don't like that the cell you're entering in to does not display what you are keying in.
2) Some cells do not work, cannot type in to them - and not because they are calculated cells, they just do not accept typing of anything in them. Example (2014 & 2015) is Installment payments made.
3) Had trouble revising cells previously entered. System would not allow changes to be made on the T2125.
**Eventually figured out that this must be a deliberate feature of the software when using Forms method - because I'm using the Standard version, and not paying 3 times the price for the Business one, it won't work well using Forms method - had to use Interview method to complete returns and this really frustrated me.
I WILL NOT BUY THIS NEXT YEAR after having used it for 10 years or more.

It assumes you understand tax basics
Even though the software creates a profile for you and a breakdown of all the steps, it fails to clarify some critical points.
Example: There are several options for provincial tax credits. But, there is no explanation of what they are for, who's eligible, etc. You are left on your own to Google around to see if it's something you can file for.
The help file doesn't break down the fields on the screen you're working on. Rather, it opens a search window to a community forum that may or may not have any answers related to the field you're stuck on.
I have very little knowledge on tax and return. Even the final steps stumped me when submitting. It wasn't clear that I would be able to submit BOTH my return and my spouses ... until AFTER I did the first one. I starred at a screen with only the option to do one, or the other. No explanation given that I had to do one-at-a-time. Sounds simple, but if you've never used software like this, it makes the headache you already have even larger.

Fast and thorough, PC-only
I've used Turbotax and its predecessors for years. Thorough, easy to do family taxes. They dropped Mac support a few years ago, now it's PC and Online only. I'd switch to another product in a heartbeat for a native Mac product, but it does work adequately well on Windows running on Parallels.

Long Time User
I've used TurboTax and it's predecessor, QuickTax, for many years. It's probably the best tax program out there but there are some glitches. For example, for the 2015 tax year the "Help" icon on the toolbar didn't work (I had to use the drop down menus). And the help is very poor. I found it quicker and easier to just search the internet by line number rather than to try to figure out how to find what I was looking for in TurboTax Help. I'll probably buy TurboTax again next year but I hope they read these reviews and fix their bugs.

MAC User
I recently changed to a MAC computer and need a program that is compatible with a MAC.
