Not as easy to use as it should be
Doesn't provide enough info on certain areas that are not clear to begin with. Didn't ask for some info and then later gave a warning as that info wasn't entered and was needed. Every year I have used this software it continues to give me a warning as I have not entered my middle initial when I clearly have done so (annoying). Best thing about Turbo tax and the main reason I use it, is so that I can netfile my returns.

Stressful
I am a first-time user. Navigation was generally easy but correcting an error was next to impossible. The Easy Navigator was definitely NOT easy.

Surprised
I have been using this software since 2007 and have had no complaints/problems until filing 2014 last year and 2015 this year.. We use the "pension income splitting" and the optimizer to double check to whose return the deduction should be entered. In both years the optimizer indicated that applying the deduction to the higher income would be more profitable.....so I changed it. However, during the review the deduction was back to the lower income again,....so I had to change it again. After NETFILE I was unable to print confirm. # ... Tried many times but no success. I had to write the confirmation # by hand. How do I send this??????????????

changes made it less useful
In past versions of turbo tax, "Help" was more helpful. I found this year I had to search for my answers more. Also, i wasn't able to search and find a solution for the error codes I received upon netfiling. I had to google it and found the answer through a competing product's website.

Not bad
I've used this program consistently for the past 5+ years and this is the first year that I've had issues. During the review phase I was told several times that I had created overrides that simply were not there. Other than this hiccup, the program and data entry went smoothly with few issues.

Ok, but not great. Limited help
Some forms that require help bring you to an online site. No clear examples, and doesn't seem like anyone cares to answer better than the generic answers listed. Also, sometimes I would have liked to see an actual example rather than a definition using terms meant for accountants.

too many glitches
in the past i have been very pleased with turbo tax, but this year i found it frustrating. it did not coordinate my childs tuition and it changed the amount i could claim from $5000 to 0 with no change in other entries. i could not get it to go back to the full amount and i don't understand why. if i tried to go to another section or review my bookmarks it would not let me. it claimed i had errors to fix/overrides and would not fix them or show them despite following the directions. my copy was up-to-date. i am disappointed in this years edition and am not confident that my returns have been filed correctly. i did not want to have to pay for the extra protection, but maybe that is why there were so many bad sections of this program; to scare people into paying more!!! very disappointed in this, my 7th year as a customer

Internet errors Family Tax Cut Credit
When reviewing the Family Tax Cut Credit, an error would appear preventing me continue or access other pages.
Furthermore, I could not NETFILE directly... this is a first and I've been using TurboTax for nearly ten years... Probably going to try another software next year.

not enough explanations

Turbo Tax
The product seems to get less intuitive every year. The help function isn't much help. This year the filing process had a loop error. Product quality is fair.
Savings from automatic yearly download were more than lost to internet fees due to the file size. If you live in a rural community you don't count...again.

Could be more helpful
for example, I prepare returns for my souse and dependant daughter on the same computer, yet I have to open the other returns manually to extract information needed for my return, like unused credits, etc.
Also, I have to manually calculate the maximum amount allowable to transfer withheld taxes from my federal to my Quebec return.

Good product, but help is lacking
Relatively easy to use, but often the help function returns very little useful information. Also, the ability to look at forums and asked/answered questions seems diminished over prior year versions. Perhaps this is missing from the standard version, but it used to be included and was useful. A small step backwards.

Problems with HiDPI laptops
My laptop is a very new HiDPI laptop. The screen resolution is 3840x2160 (4K). It runs Windows 10.
I have no problem with other programs to run under this resolution. Windows 10 does a great job in rendering everything well. Great display.
But Intuit products (TurboTax, QuickBooks) simply do not display properly. Everything gets super small. Super hard to work with.
HiDPI in PCs (and in Macs for quite some time now) is a reality. Softwware should be built to automatically support any resolution.
Very frustrating.

Still some bugs but overall OK
The return went pretty well.... until after working for over 2 hours and saving the return for the next night. The next visit asked for an update of Turbo Tax which I agreed with. The problem was that all the work I had done had disappeared, forcing me to redo the entire exercise. Not a happy camper!!

Puzzels can be fun
It will probably be a lot easier next year, however I found that there were parts that were confusing abit.
I was not sure where to enter my Student Loan Interest deduction so that was a bit of a puzzle. Also I could not see why I would have to pay this year as my pensions both deduct income tax, and I have asked my employer to deduct an additional $25/paycheque so I do not understand why I ended up having to pay. If there was a graph that could show me directly how much tax I needed to pay on each amount that may be more helpful.

Printing Issues
I seem to have printing issues every year with the this tax software. I have a printer that works fine with all other applications. I am unable to print with Turbo Tax. My system asks me to add a printer. It allows me to select my current printer, however once I select the printer, nothing happens. Same issue year after year.

Turbotax review
I don't like the fact that I could not compare my results with last year. As well, when I purchased other programs for the same price, the other program carried forward my previous years tax amounts. I did not have to go into my records to determine what they were.

Could be better
Downloading T slip from CRA site into TT keeps failing...!
Also TT should make use of "specific case scenario" to further amplify income tax line explanation already provided by CRA and not merely "Copy and Paste" CRA information into their help files. Help files that duplicate CRA information (almost verbatim) are some what useless...!

OK product
We had to pay the same amount for 2 accounts ie. 8 accounts under turbo tax standard for families.
There should have been another product in between for only a family of 2 which could save a few more dollars

Does Turbo Tax do a thorough job?
I have used turbo tax for 10+ years now. I really wish it would stop badgering me with questions like what language do you want your return done in. English, just like ever time before!
What I would like to know is if it accurately calculated my income splitting eligibility from 2014. I have no confidence level that it got my maximum return.

Not that easy
Not that easy for a 1st time user. I needed to call the friend who urged me to use it for help. I called the help line only to be told I must have bought the wrong version and I needed to upgrade before I could go any further. My friend came over and helped me prepare my return using the standard version. For persons (like me) who may not be that computer literate, this is NOT an easy / simply thing to use

Good enough for me
The product was easy to use. However, sometimes the "Continue" button needed two clicks to register. Also, I couldn't download the electronic T4's etc. The program froze and threw an Internet error. But it's easy to use!

Difficult GUI for entering slips
The forms used to enter information from Tax Slips are not user friendly. Ideally, we should be able to enter the information in rows and not in columns.
Also, I could not find a way to see all the forms (whether used or not) on one page.
Turbotax should reach the standards of Personal Taxprep, without all the firm and practice administration stuff.
I find it frustrating that I cannot print certain forms for hard copy review without the printing of one or two forms counting as a return.
