Not so good this year
I'm not sure if TurboTax has actually filed my return, because it keeps sending me back to Help? and I can't print my return. It also tells me I have to keep updating my version before I can file. Much more frustrating than last year, and I need to get this resolved quickly.

Not-so-Charitable
Even though my wife earned the income and made the Charitable Deductions, TurboTax insists on applying the credit to MY INCOME TAX return. Why?

Same old software
Software is cumbersome and slow. no real improvements to the user interface in years. They just keep charging for the same software with updated tax tables.

good but more expensive than others
I am just too lazy to switch. I have seen how ufile and studio works. They are pretty good and cheap. I am not sure if I will use turbotax next year.

Not user friendly
2014 turbo tax is not really that user friendly not like in previous year. You can't go back and forth to the easy step method.

Turbo Tax ???
I have been using this product for a decade or more and have always found it easy to use. This year I did not recognize the product that I purchased. At first I felt that I had been tricked. I usually do at least six peoples taxes. I was able to file everyones taxes with this product but found some of the wording misleading. If I was not familiar with filing taxes and previous versions of this software I may have made choicers which would have complicated things for me. I found the software clunky (slow to respond).
I will be checking reviews before I buy this product again. Up to now I have always told everyone what a great product this is. ???

Turbo Tax needs to improve the software.. seems buggy. selling to much stuff... the final submission process was slightly confused after filing.. taking it back to file page had to click done with filing... I just filed... should be move on automatically.

Bug needs fixing
TurboTax Standard really needs to fix the pension income splitting bug. To get all the numbers correct in our return I was forced to give up on income splitting.

Bad Disc
My disc would not download to my computer. My son said it was a bad disc and that he would down load Turbo Tax from on line, then I was able to register using the code on my disc. I know of other people that had the same problem.

TurboTax not for Windows XP (or Mac OS)
Easy Step can not be used to prepare a return if your PC uses Windows XP. Also TurboTax is not available for Mac OS.

Could be better
Would have been rated higher but it seems TurboTax flags and offsets 2014 capital gains against previous year capital losses for the federal return only, but not the provincial. Had to go to the forms to fix it. Really big oversight for this software.

pretty pretty pretty good
Overall good to use, a bit confusing in parts. Pity the cd version does not have an online code included as my latest laptop does not have a cd drive and I had to use my old laptop ( please include an online key in the 2015 version boxes).

Have been using TT for at least 10 years. Noticed this year that there are a few warnings that come up that are completely not applicable to me, which can easily be confirmed by the information I have entered. I would hope that Intuit could improve the logic for these warnings.

Program Should Decide Best Options
Turbo Tax is missing something important. Program should have the option of letting the tax program decide what the best option is for optimizing refund. Medical, charity and pension income splitting are areas that I had to try out on both returns to figure out which is best. Another program I used in the past was a lot more helpful than Turbo Tax.

Flawed
I miss the portion of the easy-step where I could click on an entry and get an explanation. I have no desire to seek help on an on-line forum...just the facts as an explanation.

Average at best
Less friendly than previous years. Medical section is particularly weak. Writing on the box sides and bottom requires a serious enlargement. Designers did not provide a readily available TurboTax phone number. If you have an understanding of Tax Preparation this package is adequate.

Instructions can be confusing
E.g. Instructions on whether to print or not, when all we are doing is saving to PDF file.
Review porcess and Netfiling should be better integrated, i.e. review leading to netfiling.

needs two refund lines for pension splitters
It would be nice as the program progresses, if you are splitting pension that the tax refund box shows the individual taxes for each partner. When you get a positive number, it is assumed that each is getting a refund when, in fact, one is paying $650 and one is getting back $900

Manual Netfile & Interview Process
I've been a WinTax/QuickTax / TurboTax user since 1994. Each year except this year, I've used the manual process -- my instincts have been correct. As an advanced user, the interview process is challenging as questions are anked in a different order than the way I input.
I'm glad the interview process asked me about My Account and the ability to receive notification. I would have missed this in the manual process. Otherwise, I'll stick with the manual process next year.
I needed to use the Help feature to find out the Safety Deposit boxes could no longer be claimed.
I filed three returns and none of the cases, the automatic Netfile process worked. I needed use the manual process.

Confusing
I have used Quick Tax or Turbo Tax for the last 10 years or so. I found this year quite confusing and really slow. I accidently checked the help route instead of forms and thought how bad could it be. It was really bad and really slow.

Only one hitch
The Quebec rebate for workers over 65 was mislabeled on the Quebec summary as student working in remote resource region. I spent a wasted hour trying to track it down. Please fix it!

major problem this year
This year it took to long to identify error on cd version regarding pension income amount. I spent hours trying to find my error as it was not listed on your help section. I think you owe something to customers who had a problem with this. I do not think we should have to pay to talk to a life person for help

Good but some bugs
I filed 6 returns in total One return did not allow to us the tuition amount (had to carry them over). One when playing around with the Charitable Donations between myself and my wife I put in an override but I could not clear the override so I had to start over.

Bug free software
Just a few improemens required:
- no support for long last names
- previous years tax details (RRSP dedcution limts etc.) is not asked to enter unless user knows/remembers to enter it manually. (First time users will not have a file from last year to do automatic import)

Frustrating
Unable to Netfile for hours as program would not let us register. Little did we no you had to shut off our fire wall. This would have been very valuable information. It would have saved us a lot of time and frustration. No where on the program did it tell us to shut off the fire wall.

Caregiver amount
I have done a tax return for my brother-in-law for the past two years, and he claims the Caregiver amount for his elderly parents, who live with him. It is not easy to use, and requires some updating to make it easier. For example, I could not easily find where to put the net income for each of his parents as a part of the Caregiver claim. It took a lot of searching to find where to put these amounts, and to be honest I'm not sure if I have completed the Caregiver section correctly. Please make it more user friendly. Thanks.
