frustrated

Not Sure Why I used this again
I said last year I would try a different tax package but we bought this one again, still a little clumsy, and a lot of delays in moving between screens. Computer is fast on every other program but this one is a litlle glitchy. Perhaps a little more testing is needed. a larger library of more common questions wiold help

netfile
i was not able to netfile my return as i had in other years. i don't know what the problem was but i never had any difficulty in the other 5 years that i have used turbotax.

Two problems
I had a script error when an unacceptable character showed in in the mailing address field.
Why not ask users to send a print screen of the error to a particular e-mail address to help your programmers to fix a script error.
In help, tell users how to change the mailing address field in the Identification section on page 1 of the tax return.

helps with guidance. but when your ready to file the program doesn't have all the material to do so. why sell a product without all the stuff needed to do so?

Not that great
This is the first year I have found this program lacking. It has been very difficult to register for direct deposit, income splitting can't find anywhere and very unclear on capital losses for previous years. Have been doing taxes for myself and others for a living for over 40 years and this is the first I had to get help from an accountant to do them.

Online version deleted my prior return
Online version deleted the version from 2 years ago with any warning notification email to users. Needed to make an update, so had to restart all over from scratch. Not happy.

Confused
I tired to claim my elderly mother for Caregiver and Family Caregiver. Said I had to add her as an Eligible Dependent so I did. Then said I had to remove her as an Eligible Dependent(???) but wouldn't take me to where I had to go to do that. Eventually I found her in the Introduction and deleted her there. The program should have redirected me automatically to where this had to be done - or even better do it for me. I had filed for Family Caregiver last year (using TT) and had all proper forms filed with CRA. This time the only way I could get by the error was to delete my mother as a dependent altogether. I thinking I'm out a few hundred $$$ but am so mixed up now I just let to go.

a bit disappointed
a bit disappointed in the lack of instructions and processing for cases when one party died. One has to complete the widowed party first and it asks for information on the deceased party that you can get until their return is completed

for couples it does not automatically transfer
amounts
to the spouses form to optimize the refund.the optimizer is hard to access while in the process.
does not explain what the choice does to the dollar return
Should ask to optimize dollar return for both partners in the couple(ie.we have a joint acct.at the bank).Also should show how much of the med expence can be carried over without affecting the bottom line.

Is TurboTax Slipping
In past years I was very impressed with TurboTax and the ease of finding answers to specific questions. This year, not so much. When asking for clarification of line items, sometimes the answers never did appear.
Also, I used the software for filing for a deceased person, and the continual advertisements and the tax tips and suggestions for future years filings were in bad taste.

great for simple returns
if you only have T-slips and RRSP contributions to enter then great. I was unable to Netfile my return electronically because the software does not provide industry codes for self-employment income. It will not allow you to netfile using CRA generic codes and therefore am having to paper file my return which takes 3 times as long and is very inconvenient. Not pleased with this software because of this simple fact.

Its good but...
I've been using this product for more than 15 years (quicktax before it became turbotax), and I do like it HOWEVER is frustrates me to no end that there is not a Mac version available! WHY!?!?!?!?!?!
...and NO, the web option is not an acceptable alternative. I want a stand-alone version for my Mac so I don't have to keep my old PC around for this 1 time per year that I need it.

Still work to do
Keep going in a circle in the review section. Everytime you will review the file, it keeps going in circle asking the same questions (smarttips, etc...).
The pension splitting optimizer changes recommended figures (not much few dollars, but...!) everytime you run it...!

I will tell you what I found difficult to do. When I had my tax form up on the computer and I needed to see my husband's form I had to close mine to open his and then close his to open mine. There probably was a way to do it but I searched and couldn't find anything. Also, when I wanted to enter, say, my husband's income, I had a hard time finding it as I was finalizing my form (forgot to put his income in) and did a search for "where to enter spouse's income" and found nothing. It just happened to be on the first page and it would have been nice if it could have popped right to that slot for me.

Caution
I did not find TurboTax as easy to use as in previous years. One concern is that it automatically pulled previous years info forward that no longer was accurate and did not verify the info. I happened to notice an amount that I did not enter and it was not easy to find the page I needed to remove it. Another caution is that the medical expense optimizer changed to the lower income spouse even though it was better for the higher income person to claim it in this case. Not much of an Optimizer!

Prefer the older version. This one seems to be less user-friendly. Had a hard time with looking for specific forms, and when you find the form, there is no direct link.

It's alright!
Having used this product before, I was surprised I had trouble trying to erase/remove an item, that for some reason kept popping up. (Guess I found a glitch.)
Had to redo my taxes four or five times, but I finally got it removed. With all the changes the government constituted for 2014's tax return, I'm thankful that was the only glitch. Otherwise, the program handled well.
If you have a 'basic' tax return, you'll probably will be fine. Mine was a bit 'irregular'. If that's the case for you too, just watch for any issues. Thankfully I recently upgraded my bookkeeping skills, and with the uproar on the press about the income tax changes, I had my eye open for possible issues. Not bad overall.

Good, but...
I've been using TurboTax for more than 6 years now. In this 2014-tax year version, I have a same problem as with last year version: when doing the income for Quebec, the software kept double my income. It has automatically add the same amount of income to box C (other income). I had to override by using F2 key to manually delete the amount.
It's annoying, but I'm watchful so I guess I can live with it.
The convience of being able to import info from previous year keeps me from trying another software.
I don't want to give a bad review. Maybe it is just me who donot do things right.

new template
the interface and over all look are very different this year and it resulted in many screens that were not necessary. so processing straight-forward returns was slowed down, but the system as in previous years did what it was supposed to do...

Not Bad
I've used Turbo Tax to do my family's income tax for at least five years, but this year was more frustrating. Apparently there were overrides on my return that the software wouldn't cancel, I had to do it manually. This year wasn't as easy

good for basic returns
handy but very vague. we are in a situation where there is joint custody of my spouse's child. the software kept trying to claim his daughter which we didn't want as she wasn't with us the full year. we had to go into the forms and change it. quite frustrating but did figure it out. you definitely need some tax knowledge to use this program unless its a very basic return. Also some of the questions were confusing. "is anyone claiming this credit" who is "anyone?" us? her dad? her mom? her mom probably is claiming it, so do I check yes? or do I check no so it doesn't try to claim it on our return? still don't have the answer to that one.
