Application response time is slow (but could be hardware related)
Issuer section (i.e. financial institution) accepts entry of extended character length but will not SAVE since it exceed character limit

Joint investment accounts
It is very difficult to use Turbo Tax if you have joint investment accounts with your spouse because TT only shows the "gross" amounts in one of the returns and nothing in the other ... TT splits out the correct amounts when filing or printing but it is difficult to use.

COMMENTS & MEDICAL
There seem to be some errors in comments, E.G. the amount of OAS for year. The medical entry form gives a reimbursement line which doesn't deduct the expenses. I have never spotted errors like this in any prior year. The quality seems to be slipping.

Good but not compatible with Google Chrome
The software is good, I've ben using it for about 10 years (since it was Quicktax), but this year had a problem with installation. Could not launch it (after installation) on my computer, where I have Google Chrome as a browser. Somehow Internet Explorer doesn't work on that computer whatever I've tried. And that appeared to be an issue for launching TurboTax. I've called the support, whatever they suggested as a solution didn't work on my computer. Fortunately, I could use my daughter's computer with IE, where TurboTax works very fine. Hope, this issue will be solved next year!

Charitable Donation Optimizer broken
The charitable donation optimizer is not working or it is but poorly designed. In the help it instructed to use the override to be able to switch from me to my spouse did not worked very well then when I tried to complete my filing it said that I had to remove the override a pop up opens and ask if I want to do this Yes select yes but it does not clear it.
I had to restart from scratch. I guess it work well if you do not change things

I like the package, but am very upset that I had to install it on a different PC than I wanted because it would not install on my XP Pro machine. I don't want to upgrade a machine that works fine otherwise.

Needs minor adjustments
The question regarding income tax quarterly installment payment, for the taxation year section, is not clearly worded. In regards to entering, total amount paid for the year, or, payment over a three month period.

bugs
Biggest bugs:
1. does not show the 50% allocation of T5 & T3 slips on the T slip summary page
2. does not correct Business income on forms when it is eliminated from the election page for Business income, self-employed income, etc.
3. sometimes does not carry forward capital losses to next year

Bad Search Engine
Why does the search engine for "Take Me To" assume only the first letters of the page title? Unless what you remember happens to be the exact title, you are better off to use Help -- which has a more practical search engine -- and then click "Take Me There".

Good, but had one flaw
It is easy to use for most circumstances but I had a problem with the pension sharing functionality - the forms were either incomplete or not properly linked and so to enter amounts I had to override data entry fields which negated the NetFile option.

Tempted to go back to manual
Have used Turbo since day one. It gets less impressive each year. Particularly annoyed that there is no MAC version and no auto save in the event that Windows chooses to run an update automatically. Also does not allow cut and paste for repeat entries in forms like Medical. For this day and age the process should be smoother and the review process at the end should not be pointing out warnings that were not prompted during the data input; you end up having to go back into the forms and decipher the warnings. At the price paid for this software for one time use, it should be considerably better!

Not always obvious
This software is excellent if your return is simple. It is not so easy if you need to add items such as previous years carryovers, past balances, etc. You almost need to know the answer to difficult questions or you need to check the government websites.

Bit disappointed this year
Bit disappointed this year
1) moving expenses did not work
2) endless loop in printing section
3) doesn't automatically link children with parents for tuition deductions. Not much insight on tuition transfer -- could use an optimizer -- is it better to transfer credit or carry forward?
4) 'go to forms' dropped me on a random form, I thought it would take me to the area I was currently working on
5) Some "yes/no" questions use radio buttons, others use drop down boxes. Seemed inconsistent.

Not easy anymore
I have used this product for 6 years and this year encountered a problem entering information relating to a scholarship. The amount was shown differently in federal and provincial returns, causing a warning to be issued, but no matter what I did I couldn't get the info to stay as I showed it. Years ago, I would have been able to call customer service to advise me why I was having a problem. But now I have to pay extra for this service. I already paid for the program, why should I have to pay if I can't get the program to work?
I will reconsider how to do my taxes next year.

Not as good as it could be
The programme should automatically highlight and ignore areas that would pertain or not to ones situation. Example, if one's birthdate makes the person a senior, it should automatically populate information for a senior. If you say you are a widower, it shouldn't ask information for a spouse.

Fairly good purchase
I found it very simple to use, but for some of the questions regarding the tax credits I thought there could have been a little more information or guidelines. When you look at the list some of them are form numbers and being a 1st time user did not know them.

Gets the job done but...
QuickTax, now renamed according to their American product (-1 point), continues to be a standard that gets the job done, dots all the T's, crosses all the Eyes, etc. etc.
Here's why I didn't rate it higher:
* It's now a .NET (probably C#?) program that takes ever longer and longer to load, especially on older computers (fix this for +1 star on Easy To Use)
* It continues NOT to work on WINE (an environment that runs Windows programs on Ubuntu or other Linux OS's) (fix this for +1 star on Easy To Use, +2 Stars on Value, +2 Stars on Overall)
I am a software developer, so I know what I'm talking about when I say that basing programs on Microsoft's ".NET" libraries makes them easier to develop but makes them clunkier to run: more stuff to load, longer to do anything. TurboTax, like so many other programs these days, is showing more and more signs of .NET-related cost-shifting from development time to execution time.
But it'll get the job done and the year-over-year value import is still a really convenient aspect.

Auto Renew frustration
I have used TurboTax for years and appreciate the ease of filing using this method. However, I don't appreciate the auto renew merry go around. It does not save money and somehow a charge was entered on an EXPIRED Credit Card! I hope I have removed myself from the list for 2014.

Watch out for pushy upgrades
The quantity of advertising for other Quicken products is outrageous. Some of the questions seem to be reversed so that when I get used to saying NO NO NO to the ad the question changes to so I have to answer YES to continue without buying more products.

Difficult to record an X in T1 General fields
It was very difficult to record an X in a number of fields on the first pages of the T1 General form, including "language of correspondence", "reside within Nisga'a Lands", "Elections Canada", "foreign property", etc.
I hope that this problem is fixed for TurboTax 2014?
I am using Windows 7 with the latest service packs and updates.
Thanks

I've used TurboTax for many years. I've always found it simple and convenient. This year however I find that the program is starting to become like internet surfing with advertisement pop ups wanting to sell me something at every corner. Some of the straight forward questions are being ambiguous when they could be more direct. I'm losing faith in the product as last years tax return took less time than this year even though my circumstances have not changed. (Same number of T-slips and investments etc.) This can only be due to the program and advertising queries.

Navigation and Advice
I found the lack of useful advice frustrating. What is needed are scenarios for decisions I make when entering my data points; e.g. what is the better choice, to enter capital gains dividends as capital gains or is it more beneficial to enter it as income.
Also I noticed that the Forms program does not update when I made changes in the Step by Step program.
Also getting back to the spot in Step by Step after leaving it for another spot in the program is not easy and time consuming.
The program shut down once and I lost the data I entered. it would be much more helpful if my data was Saved every few seconds automatically.

Probably will not renew TurboTax
Perhaps the tax system has become more complex, but it seems to be more difficult to navigate between easy steps and forms ; also it is frustrating to be unable to enter the % shown on tax shelter for ownership such as it is on the T document and have to call someone to be eventually told that .005 has be entered as .01, which is not correct. I also encountered a problem when getting ready to file, the program would not open the specific file I needed - I had to find the thread to open the actual file from its location on my computer.
THIS WOULD NOT WORK FOR AN AMATEUR COMPUTER USER!

TurboTax 2013
I've been using this program since 2010. There are glitches. This year I had problems with the Installation Key (third number appeared like a letter 'C'). (I should have checked previous years.) In terms of responding to questions, answers should be akin to Revenue Canada, not other users. One needs expert help, not commentary! The program does not answer all the questions. Better Customer Service is needed; that is, longer hours for West Coast users. Overall the program is good.
