Special Needs
The software needs more work in this 2013 version.
I have been using it since it was made by Intuit, then it was better. Simple repetitive tasks like entering medical data were easier, now I cannot type with two hands as I am recovering from a brain hemorrhage, and I wish it would be simpler to use Turbotax.
Today I use my voice-activated computer, however, this software doesn't accept commands or data. I hope that the version for 2014 gets better.

The install of this software is very diffculty,
and when you run it long time it became very very slow, the harddisk of computer is very busy. I don't know why.

Most disappointing version
I have used the Intuit program for MANY years. This is the first time that I wished that I had paid someone else to do my taxes!! I wish that I could give some specific examples. Because I felt that there were 'changes' made to the places that I directed data to, I did my wife's and my taxes 3 times before I was satisfied with the results. This shouldn't happen. I talked to a friend that was also using the program, and she too found that the program was not very 'user friendly' this year.
Don't get me wrong, I will buy the program again next year, but ....

Why is there a warning about the northern Ontario grant on where I live when TurboTax has my adress on this program that shows that I live in Northern Ontario and qualify for the grant?

2012/2013 Return
Easy to use program however had problems with 2012 tax year software which ended in a large penalty fee. 2013 software was easy to use; could use the option to easily enter multiple medical expenses.

not as easy as ufile
It's alright, but I don't like how it flip-flops from one spouse to the other. Ufile allows all of one spouse's information to be entered and then enter the information for the other spouse.

Good but not great
I do enjoy using TurboTax for my taxes and have used intuit's software for many years. My biggest concern is the stratification of products and the 'standard' really isn't even that standard.
Why? Simple investment income of even small amounts triggers a response that prompts you to upgrade to the next level of product, and thus really doesn't help to ensure it's done right. For the price of "premium" or whatever the next level is, why not just take it to an accountant?
Then on top of all that all the "services" that are offered through the process are mostly just annoying.

I have used Turbo Tax/Quick Tax for 10years but had major problems this year with very slow system response time which has clouded my opinion. Still managed to work through it and to netfile.

Simple interface, easy to use, my 4th or 5th year using this brand.
The amount of ads cross-selling other tax products and services that the user has to now click through to process their return is laugh out loud ridiculous. I feel like I downloaded a program off the internet.
Will have to seriously look at other brands next year.

Harder to use this year
Have used this program for a number of years but this year had a lot of difficulty doing a return for my parents. It kept changing who was using the medical deductions and it took hours to get it right. I like the new method of reporting.

errors
There seem to be errors in the program:
1. It was optimal for me to split my pension exactly 50/50 with my spouse, but the pension splitting optimizer was a few cents off this.
2. The program seems to default to carrying forward unused tuition credits rather than asking if these can be transferred to a spouse.
3. The program kept asking me to choose a 12-month period for medical expenses when I had not entered any medical expenses.

Too many glitches this year
1) claimed ineligible RRSP amount on no earned income.
2) Inter-provincial CPP / QPP calculation would not work
3) Last screen shows that all incomes should add to the total but the total includes T5 slips and this is not an option on this screen.
The Review includes irrelevant statements.
In general the program is getting easier to work with.

I found that this year it was harder to move around in the program it was especially hard to switch from my return to my wife's return. I also found that the optimizer reduced my tax return instead of increasing it

Although it was difficult to use and some explanations are hard to follow, I had a very good return. I dont understand completely the law but in my two years using this software I did not have problems with my declarations. I appreciate the effort to import slips from Revenu Québec file. I only had to copy a few new fields in the federal return. To programmers: you could make easier the profiling (first step) and how it is related to the easy interview steps; several questions are incomprehensible

Adequate
This product is adequate for its purpose. My only complaint is that is allows you to enter a total RRSP and other pension amount that exceeds the allowable contribution. I think there should be a warning when this happens.

Not good for final return
TurboTax made filing a my father's final return (he died in 2013) difficult due to several restrictions and a flaw in the return preparation process.

Program Good - Carry Forward Disappointing
I was most disappointed that I could not carry forward from 2012 Turbotax Online to the 2013 Turbotax CD program. It seemed rather ironic and frustrating that I could have forwarded other tax programs, but not turbotax.

Trending in the wrong direction
When you were Quicktax you had easy to use, intuitive software. Every year since you became TurboTax your software has become less intuitive and more difficult to use. You need to get back to basics. Spend less time trying to upsell me to links to other software or "improved" versions of the core software and more time improving the utility and simplicity of the core product.

Frustrating installation
I have always used TurboTax and until this year have been very pleased. This year however was quite the opposite. Installation failed from the CD, caused my computer to freeze. Tech support provided updated version. However turbotax can not be fully uninstalled. The new version had no effect because my computer remembered the original install and froze at the same point during installation. resorted to installing on a different computer. Could not start the program from the shortcuts. I had to manually start it from the exe file in the program directory. The software did ok completing my taxes, however there are many other products out there that do the same thing for less money, I will not buy this one again

Annoying Ads for other Intuit products
I find it distasteful to pepper TurboTax with ads for other Intuit products. Also, it distracts from the main task. The alternatives are less expensive and without "in-app" ads. I will seriously consider alternative application the next year.

Too many ads
I've used TurboTax for a number of years but don't think I will be using it next year, there are too many ads (hence the value rating of 1 star, if it was a free version I would put up with all the ads).
The program has enough usability issues of its own and its very aggravating for me as a user to try and determine when its asking me about my taxes or selling some kind of "value added service".
