a bit frustrating
For a senior, who can easily be confused, I did find myself confused often. One problem is to escape from a page That I don't want to be at. A second proble was getting a message server busy, It tells me to switch to somewhere or something I don't understand. I then cannot clear the server busy message box. shutting down everthing is one solution.

Good overall for individual tax preparation. However, there is too much advertising for non-needed services, e.g. representation in case of audit, will preparation software. Should eliminate the contact window on the right of the screen, it is simply a waste of screen space. Perhaps replace it with an F1 help button.

Good Purchase
I find the easy forms great but I was disappointed to find out that I could not submit an RRSP claim that I paid in January - February 2013 for 2012. I didn't record it last year and that was the mistake. Found that very difficult when I realized I had to change my 2012 tax submission in order to submit it.

Good but not great
Good but not great product. I wish it would allow opening up multiple forms at the same time. Often have to close my children and open mine, and vice versa. Help could be better.

Had a problem importing last year's data. The numbers were wrong. Did not realize it until I had finished. Tried again and the numbers were correct, so I had to start all over. They should ask you to compare last year's data with last year's Notice of assessment and let you make changes accordingly.
Tried to print federal return for mailing, but it did not include 2 forms the enclosure list said were required to be filed.
There should be a "Take me to" in the Easy Step procedure, so if you switch between that and the forms procedure you don't have to go through the entire Easy Step section to get back where you were. Either that or it should take you back in the Easy Step section where you left off.

Good Purchase but...
Works well have been using for several years, however this year they have decided to make every second page an attempt to sell you more services. They need to remove this to get a 5 star review. I'm more concentrated on getting my taxes done not getting a reminder of the other services they provide.

confused frustrated
sometimes when information was incorrectly entered it was hard to get back to the right place to correct it .
simple farm information was difficult to understand when the computer got done with it
eg. the ag stability thing if you're not involved

Suitable
The tax return was average. It was easy to use, but at the end when I was in Review it kept telling me I had selected something I didn't. That was annoying. But it was still easy to file. It does the job.

Best Buy and Easy
I highly recommend this product. Not only did I save money, it was very easy to do and done in very little time.
All I had to do was enter my information and Turbo Tax did the rest!!

The first time I would not recommend
I was very dismayed to see there was only support for Internet Explorer 8. I do not use IE because it is an inferior product and I do not want it on my computer. This requirement was NOT on the box and had the proper installation intstructions had included this very important and missing peice of information, I would not have purchased your product. Stop requiring the use of IE or I will choose another program to support.

Not the easiest
We find Turbo Tax needs to be more user friendly. It would be nice if you offered ONE free telephone call to a help line. We had several issues and went back a few hours later to see it rectified. Some amounts appeared differently than entered.

Frustrating
Overall simple to use but it has it's very annoying quirks that take double the time to eliminate or work around. For example, once you have entered information such as the UCCB beneficiary, it will not allow you to change it no matter what you do. The same applies to employment expenses - if you initially enter yes, then subsequently enter no, it will constantly ask you to enter your employment expenses. The terminology it uses such as 'net employment earnings' in the income section is misleading. It is not the same as net income. The word 'net' should not be used. It should say total earnings or some other word. You enter UCCB income for the person with the lowest NET income. Medical expenses mysteriously appeared in my return. I never entered any and the review section wanted me to designate a period of time. I don't know where the amount of $450 came from. It is not in the easy step in my return but it is in the PDF copy. Another annoying quirk - you have to click on 'continue' twice most of the time. This is a carry over from last year as it has not been corrected.

You HAVE To Fix This
I do not understand why a company like Intuit cannot write an app that will not work unless certain font sizes are used on the desktop! Weird. I keep thinking they'll get this fixed next year, but they don't. I'm thinking that next year I'll be using the much-touted (and free) Studio Tax.

Struggling
I did have some trouble with the program, as far as when and where to enter my RRSP contributions, it kept wanting to deal with my HBP and I could not find where to enter my RRSP Contributions. Very frustrating. Also when doing the Northern Living Allowance and the Travel part it was hard to know where to enter and who to enter. Also you have to minimize the window and go online to find information, also very frustrating. I have used this program before and it was a lot less of a hassle. I would probably go back to an accountant to have my taxes done in the fulture if this program stays the same. Thank you!

Steps format not my favorite
I did my Mother's Income Tax. She is 94 years old and widowed for over 25 years, but the Steps format and other times kept asking questions as if she had a spouse. It was very frustrating.

Intuit Tax file - not so easy to use!
If you change the platform, esp. upgrading, on which the Intuit program is run, do NOT copy and transfer the data files as the new platform will nor recognize the data files format. I had to re-input ALL the data again going from an XP platform to a W7 platform.
And terminologies used in the return do not necessarily correspond to terminologies used on h/c forms.
It is not necessarily easy, or straightforward, following instructions jumping from the input screen to the forms and back again. It is getting more and more complex - not an attribute us seniors appreciate.

Want a LINUX version.
I've installed and used TurboTax (previously QuickTax) for many years from a Microsoft XP computer. Support for XP is now discontinued and I've happily moved away from Microsoft products and onto the LINUX operating system platform.
I DO NOT WANT TO PREPARE AND SAVE MY INCOME TAX RETURN USING AN ONLINE SERVICE.
Please provide a LINUX version of TurboTax otherwise I'll need to use your competitor's products next year.

Moving to paid adware support software
I've used this software for over 10 years and over the past few years it has become more and more flooded with ads for other products and services. I've paid for the software and the software itself is quite good. I just taught my children how to file their taxes with the software to which they were very confused by the "audit protections" and other unnecessary clutter. Next year I will be having a real hard look at competitors offerings.

Worst Year of last 15
I have used TurboTax (previously QuickTax) for over 15 years and this year's program was not good. I contacted support 6 times for help related to program errors including the inability to netfile due to a program issue. My tax situation is exactly like last year so this should have been easy and seamless. It was not.
