I have twice in the past few years lost all my inputed information when I inadvertantly shut the program down without saving as I went along. I was moving from one screen to another (going into the forms tab) and didn't know how to close out the forms and get back to the regular program. I do believe I got a pop up screen asking if I wanted to save it but I had so many pop up screens I must have ignored it.
Could you not have a feature that saves the program as you go along? It took my 1.5 hrs to reinput all the information.

Fair Purchace
There is a lot of in app advertising for services that I did not want or require. This interrupted my 'flow'. I would appreciate it if an app I purchased did not have advertising that interrupted my experience.
Otherwise it's a great and helpful piece of software that significantly sped up my tax filing process.

Useful as always
Once again it has helped me do my taxes in an accurate and timely fasion. The easy step process worked well and helped me to ensure that all data was entered correctly.
There is one short coming I see. As a senior my wife and I have a fair amount of medical deductions to enter. The software requires I enter each one individually. It would be nice to be able to upload them from say an Excel spread sheet, which is how I get the data from my pharmacey. It would save a lot of time and eye strain making sure all entries are correct.

Moving Expenses
If you moved this year double check the entries. For me IT adjusted to under 40 km and then entered $0. check that Turbo Tax credits your expense. The km difference NEEDED to be put in the form manually.

some challenges
I had trouble with the second return that I tried to print as it would not print, telling me that I had to get updates. When I tried to update at that point it was not an easy process- before I started, I tried to update and that didn't work. Not sure at this point what I would say, but eventually I got two returns done- now ready to do the third.

Crash crash crash
Each year I buy this. Each year it crashes repeatedly. The problem is a conflict with Dragon naturally speaking voice software. I use this software in conjunction with many other programs including AutoCAD & microstation drafting software. No problems except with TurboTax. I must close Dragon before using TurboTax.
Also, never buy this product online if a company is offering you a discount on it. Often the discount will not appear when it is time to pay. Buy it in the box.

Works well, but had issues with program crashing
I have been using quick tax and turbotax for years. This year, it kept crashing when I first opened it unless I rebooted my computer right before launching the program. THAT needs to be addressed. I use Windows XP Professional, but will not be using Windows 7 and not 8.

I found it very hard to arrive at just printing the General tax return pages only. When you ask for the Quebec return it doesn't ask if you only want this, but rather starts printing 20 some odd pages. Not good.

Will not allow ANY PRINTING.
As far as tax filing goes, it does the job easily and seamlessly. The product will not allow me to print of my tax form, my confirmation, nothing. Does not even recognize or allow me to select my printer. Very disappointing.

Some issues
Students who are attending university and must do an internship ship in another city for a period time is a problem for this programme. It wants you to be employed and not a student or not employed and a student. THis is not the real world!
It would be nice to have a box to explain to CRA special situations in special cases.
Explaing / noting primary residence and then noting temp student rental residence would be a nice feature.

Getting harder to use - many changes

Moving Expense Issue & Filing Issue
Had some difficulty using easy step with Moving Expenses - possibly because I had moving expenses carried forward from a previous year. Once I went to the actual form itself I was able to complete this section.
Also had some issue with filing - server was busy.

Filing with spouse - issues
For whatever reason, last year, when I filed my tax returns for both my wife and me, I was never asked to choose a payment method for my wife as she had a balance owing when I did not.
Let me be more clear:
I am expecting a refund.
She is owing.
My refund exceeds her owing balance, yet Turbo Tax insisted I inform it which would be the method of payment. Why ask this question if I should receive a cheque for the balance owning?

Easy to use, but expensive
The software is easy to use, but I only need to file 1 return, and I find the software overpriced for that. There is a basic version, but it will not import from last year's return (from the little information I could find about it), so it's not as useful. I wish there was a basic version that worked on my PC (not online) that would let me file 1 or 2 returns for half the price.

New Changes
I'm unhappy about 2 things using TurboTax:
1. We are a family of 4, and have 3 personal
computers, I do mine and spouse together, and
now my Son wants to do his by himself on his
computer. TurboTax can only be installed on
two computers which in our current situation is fine,
but sometimes we have to re-install our Windows
operating system on our computers due to
problems, and then we have already used up
the 2 allowed installations of TurboTax and can't
see our Tax returns or use the program before
asking and explaining to TurboTax customer service
last year.
2. New this year, TurboTax can now send our returns
via NETFILE... NO option to Netfile the file myself as in
past years.
TurboTax does it in less than 10 seconds, then i got
a confirmation page which I WAS NOT ABLE TO PRINT.
...When things go too fast, I worry about security of
my files and information on my computer, and wonder
what other files TurboTax can access on my computers. I also need re-assurance that i can print
out confirmations that file was sent, or see the files
when being sent.

THE CONNECTION TO CRA WITHOUT HAVING TO CHANGE FILE FORMAT IS AN EXCEPTIONAL IMPROMENT, I ALWAYS HAD PROBELMS GETTING MY FILES.
IN THE EASYSTEP METHOD IT STILL VERY TEDIOUS, CAN'T YOU STEAMLINE THAT A BIT.

fairly simple but not completely
I found some parts easy and some parts kept coming up to review. I did things right but still review would come up. eg: my medical bills were high because of hearing aids I got, also prescription, dental and eye wear and individual medical plan..
I had the darnest time at the end to realize I had to click the little red box to go forward ...
It was frustrating at times.

Poor Medical Expense Information Input
For the past 2 years I have commented on the Medical Expense information input and NO CHANGES HAVE OCCURRED. Why do you ask for input and then ignore it? Inputting the Medical Expenses is very cumbersome and time consuming. You have to use Ctrl C or Ctrl V to copy and paste. Why can you not change to use the mouse for copying and pasting? Some of the information fields allows only limited characters, regardless of the actual reason for expense or payment to. There are only 120 input claim sections available. It means trying to go back and combine. Expand the total to 200. Make the movement between claim sections easier. Going from 1 to 120, you must click on the arrow one at a time. The Medical Expense Worksheet only allows 50 visible records. Expand this to match the input claim section, e.g. 200.

value question
Each year I get my copy somewhere in January or February for approx. $38.00 and then a week later it is on sale at some other place for 28-30 dollars and the offer that your company sends to us is always higher than the price in the stores. Where is the incentive to order either early or from the company directly?

Help Dialog did not Work
I have used this this product for 5 years. The product was easier to use this year, but I found when I clicked on the Help button to get a dialog box to show "contents, or index" of available topics - the topics showed up, but not the details of the answer.
Don't think that the help topics answers were working on my version of the program, even with a product update. Frustrating because I had to read the paper copy of the General Tax Guide from the Canada Post Office for some answers and I will need to contact CRA by phone for clarification also.
Ease of use of saving the return and printing it out this year. Because CRA switched to a condensed version - using less paper, there is much less paper to print and to mail out; saves in Postage!
