THIS IS THE 2ND YEAR THAT I HAVE USED TURBO FOR MYSELF AND MY WIFE. BOTH YEARS I HAD DONE BOTH RETURNS ON PAPER BEFORE USING TURBO. BOTH YEARS AFTER I HAD ENTERED ALL THE INFO THE TAXES THAT I HAD CAME UP WITH WERE THE SAME AS TURBO. BUT AT THE END THEY SUGGEST TO OPTIMIZE THE SPLITING OF INCOME. I THOUGHT MAYBE IT NEW SOMETHING THAT I DIDN'T. FIRST YEAR THEY CHANGED INCOME SPLIT BY $127.00 AND CHANGED DONATIONS ETC AND THIS HAD ME PAY $1,350.00 MORE AND MY WIFE PAY $1,350.00 LESS. NO SAVING FOR THE 2 OF US. THIS YEAR THE SAME. THERE WAS NO SAVING, BUT THEY CHANGED THINGS AROUND. WHY DOES THE SYSTEM NOT REALIZE THAT THEY ARE NOT SAVING ANY TOTAL TAX, SO JUST LEAVE THE 1ST CALCULATIONS. ACTUALLY THIS YEAR WE PAY $3.00 MORE. NOT WORTH FIGURING OUT HOW TO GO BACK TO THE 1ST CALCULATION.

ok purchase
when starting a new return I didn't check self employed income, yet the program asks me under review to fix this problem. it was ok this time as I had to print return and ignore the fixes, but if I had to netfile the needless fixes would have to be corrected even though their was no self employed income.

be careful
you must know what you are doing especially if you are transferring data from one return to another. Even though the program asks you o transfer something it doesn't remove it from the persons return....so be careful make sure you know what you are doing,

Odd
As a tax preparer I am used to ProFile and found this setup odd. I can see how the easy step process would help someone who has never prepared their returns before but only if completing a basic return.
This product is useable, but maybe not the one for me.

Not that intuitive
It took me four tries to get the correct amounts sorted. You have no way of knowing if your amounts are correct unless you make calculations on a separate sheet of paper. There are no prompts to look up lines.

Update Necessary to Netfile
seems sketchy that you HAVE to download an update after you complete your form, but before you can netfile- you can't netfile until you download the update. A bug? Or a bigger issue with this software??

Needs some polish
Asked some questions, but didn't follow up (ie: contributions prior to March 01 2013).
Didn't like employer name, no explanation given.
Doesn't like people with two middle initials (names).

Needs improvements
This program is not always helpful. With medical deductions it says put on lowest income person but when you do that it reduces the refund in 1/2 so why would I do that??
There are other inconsistancies with the advise given Charitable donations and rrsp so I use it because I have not tried any other program but next year I think I might try. I have been using it for several years now so it was convienent to use but I am not as pleased with it this year! Sorry for the news:(

review of Print and file
I think that the netfile and print section is confusing and it was kinda circular, I kept going around and asking to save copies and I wasn't really sure that I had netfiled my forms.
I liked the easy steps as usual, my returns aren't really complicated so I could see that if it was I might not be able to file so easily

Every year, I cannot Netfile my tax as it shows error in year graduated. I chose in the drop down menu the year graduated, but it still ask me to indicate year graduated. I cannot fix the error, hence, Netfile won't accept my return as it shows error.

not so much
I had more difficulty with Turbo Tax this year than in previous years.
I had to exit the program in order to see the recaluculations when changes were made.
a button to Resume might help

others were easier
This has been an experience compared to other years, when I have used other software. I have used the other for several years and it seems simpler to use from the first time. However, could be 1st time user learning curve - I MAY give it another chance, especially if the other is not available.

Problem Areas
Does not indicate how many pages will be printed when choose to print return. Does not give the option to print 2-side to save paper. Many pages are blank forms.
Some questions assume you have the knowledge of an account - for example; "Do you have any RRSP etc. information to enter?" Does that mean RRSP contributions made, RRSP earnings, or what?

Disappointing & Flustrating
The program will insist on putting my medical expense on my wife's tax return.
Trying to insert a capital loss of prior years is tedious and not at all easy.

First time Turbo Tax
Not as easy as it seems, and it is difficult to find where to enter particular deductions that normally as easy to read on the paper return
errors occurred near the end that would not let me file
I had to return to a screen several times that did not have any entries on it, where turbo tax said I had entered deductions

Good but Glitch
I thought this software was very easy to use - better than previous years. Unfortunately, right at the end when going through reviews and warnings, the 'override warning came up on my husband's return. I clicked the 'clear override' button to fix but the warning didn't go away. I tried the other method by going to the form and manually tried to fix the override. The message stated that there was no override - it had been cleared. I reviewed the form and couldn't see where there was an override. I tried to 'fix' several times. Because of the override issue, I could not netfile his return but had already netfiled my own return. There were deductions that were transferred from my return to his so hopefully this won't hold up refunds too much. Somewhat of a mess so can't give this a great review unfortunately.

VERY FRUSTRATING
I wanted to print a summary of the tax return and it printed 34 pages for one return. That was after I requested closing any forms that were blank. We have 3 returns in the family. I do not want that much paper! When I filed my taxes by hand I was left with 6-7 pages to copy - very manageable. This is not environmentally friendly or cost effective. There should be some way to print a 1-3 page summary.

Printing forms
I love using turbo tax so much easier, Although when it comes to print for my own records. l thing there are some issues that should be addressed by the tech department. I printed of my sons forms, and when it came to do my husbands and mine, it wouldn't let me print. said my printer needed to be added and something about a spooler! My printed worked minutes before trying to print forms out and when it could print them out l tried again something else out and it did... So l had to netfile them off, never doing this before l was/am hesitant doing so. l like to have a paper trail to fall back onto.

This Year is not good
This year I thought the whole thing was confusing. I have gone through this and filed my taxes. It gives my spouse a huge refund and me a big bill to pay, that's OK except when I went back and rechecked it (After I filed) It now gives my wife a smaller refund and me a smaller tax bill to pay, the difference in both cases (combined Refund) is still the same.. Think someone screwed up somewhere.

Trouble printing single pages
I could not print the tax confirmation # page. Also, I could not print tax summary page. Ufile lets you print these. Acceptable basic tax program, but did not appreciate the printing aspect.

The product is great but sometimes it is nice to actually talk to someone. I was surprised that knowing it is tax season that there are not enough individuals available to ask legitimate questions concerning possible errors on the CPP/QPP calculations.
