evaluation turbo tax
I would like the program to be a bit more intuitive. I am asked to put in figures and these are added up but I dont know why or what is going on in the background. more explanations are needed in pop ups or some other form.

False Forms Entries
Just because I clicked on a blank form without entering any data the software seemed to capture the form as being used and generated errors or warnings.

Installation Key Code
Had a lot of problems with this when i wanted to file a second income tax. I also purchased an additional installation key code and that did not work. Next time I will just file online.

A few places it does annoying operations
It auto applied donations before I had a chance to input medical deductions.
There was something else about the entry but I have forgotten what it was, I had to do a lot of manual entry through the forms, annoying.

decidely and disappointingly poor
TurboTax as a product and the support provided are disappointing this year. QuickTax was a better product - with fewer bugs. QuickTax had good local (Alberta) support. Now, everything is outsourced to India and the Indian support is decidedly and disappointingly poor. I will be looking around to see what other products are out there. I will return to TurboTax next year but necessarily because I want to. :-(

2012 tax year edition
No option to run program on a non internet computer and get a file to netfile on the "other" computer that does have net access, there was last year and I used it. Intended to use it this year as well but could not! Had a problem with installation key as it is not compatable with XP, had to phone for a backup #. Had to do an estate return and this year a drop down tip gave me an overview of what I needed ...that was GOOD... but I needed it last year. I wont buy next year because it's far too expensive to purchase for just 1 return to net file.

Takes time
Turbo Tax should link more keywords to their definitions. I had to copy and paste over 10 different tax jargon words to find the definition of them. It cost me somewhat less than it would have if I used a tax preparation service like I did last year but it took me several more hours.

Pain in the Rear
It is very easy to use until it is time to .net file. The file is nowhere to be found. After an hour of seaching on the internet I found a way to save a .net file.

Very helpful but...
The software is easy to use & follow but the big thing for me is the font & the quality of the printing. The font should be bigger & printed in bold letters so it's easier to read...especially for those who have problems with eyesight like me. This is a problem for me every year.

inability to update
This is the second ear in a row that I have had to remove the installed software in order to be able to download the updates. This is extremely time consuming and frustrating. It really reduces the value of your product.

Excellent except for re-install
I love this program and I have been using it for years. I have, however; had the same issue last year and this year. Whenever I exit the prgram, it gives me an error message when I sign in again. I am forced to uninstall and re-install the program which is an aggravation.

First Time User
This was somewhat difficult & frustrating for a first time user. Once I got the hang of it it was OK. Getting the end result filing was a little difficult also but then any tax return other than the basic simple one is a challenge. This one was a joint one with pension splitting.

Make Changes
Found it very difficult to go back and make changes on the forms once data had been entered. Frustrating.
Also, when doing the income splitting, doing both files at the same time did not work for us. One was finally done manually and sent in that way

Best Tax Software
I've used Turbo Tax for years.
Although the font issue still is not resolved this year's package is better.
I would recommend anyone from novice to expert to use this software.

Was unable to file because of a change of address, ended up having to print it off and mail it anyways. This specific info should have been made available to me early on in the process. Next year I will do it on paper to start with.

Printer Problems
Program print selections did not recognize my printer. Printer works fine and has for many years .. including printing Turbo Tax and Quick Tax returns from the past. It is an Epson cx3800. It is working fine, but I can only print from my saved PDF file on the computer. Why?

I did not like how the software would not let me claim all of my donations and made the bulk of them go to my wives return to maximize her return. I had a BtoB investment that was hard to input into this form where in the standard form it was quite straight forward to account for dividend income, loan expenses and mutual (CI Financial ) fees input as carrying charges. Probably my first time usage of your software, but I really do not think that I need the full Accounting package to declare simple income and loan expenses.

Printer Problems
For the first time ever, the program would not recognize my printer. Yes, the printer was listed and chosen, but at this point the program froze. I had to print my copy of the return from a saved PDF file on my computer, not from the "print" selection in the program. Rather disappointing.

No carry forwards?
In the help, I read that the basic version of Turbo Tax did not do carry forwards from previous years. This was disturbing, because I was not sure if my standard version had this shortcoming. It appeared not, but that would be a very big deficiency that would cause me to look for alternative software, if I really found that assumed features were not there.

More difficult to Use in 2012
My wife and I had a number of problems and surprises with TurboTax this year. First of all self employment businesses that were classed in their final year last year kept on showing up and had to be dealt with through edits or deletes every time you started over (what a pain!). The software doesn't allow previously separate returns to be transferred into one husband/wife return so we could take advantage of the optimization tools in TurboTax (another pain). For some reason this year's printout or pdf file copy has a totally useless and unnecessary water mark on it.

Irritates
For the most part ok to use but I find it irritating to have to dig down for "other" boxes for T-slips...why not just list them all up front? Also, during the review process, if there is something that needs to be looked at, why doesn't it take you right to the input sheet to make corrections? Why can't I go right back to the review area I left off at?

I would like to see a view button where I could increase the font size, even if it is just for a line by line read only feature.
