Could Improve
This program needs to alow screen printing. Also if a return is started with out importing the previous year ther needs to be away yo go back and do this

Some weak points still
The good - the check list at the start of the questionaire is complete, and guides the whole process, if you miss-select an item that item will occur in the questionaire, whether you want it or not, or (in my case) I missed an item and had to go loking for it as it did not automatically appear
The bad - the Charitable Donations Optimizer is confusing, has no instructions and contributed nothing to my return. I had to optimize by trial and error.

problems
Not enough instruction on capital gains/losses.
Would not print Federal tax form when it indicated it would. (no printer response). Printer box came on screen two steps after print request!
Spent considerable time trying to find why the printer would not work.

Optimize???
Medical Expense Optimizer didn't work correctly. I tried to save $30 but the program wouldn't stay with the optimized amount and repeatedly listed the medical expenses on the spouse with the higher income.

Not great for 2012!
Donation module failed me totally - had to restart due to inability to "unallocate" a donation by one spouse. Then, to top it off, the Donation Optimizer either doesn't really work, or it needs work to make it understandable. I figured out the correct answer by manually making allocations and checking the results.
Also, I need a form printed for post NetFile sending to Ottawa. Seems no way to do that after Net File, as my printouts say File Copy Only, DO NOT SUBMIT!
A poor job in my opinion ...

Good enough
The software doesn't do what it's supposed to do when it comes to saving the return. When the return is saved as a pdf file for record or mail, the file couldn't be read when it's subsequently opened. The file consists of funny characters that aren't readable or understandable by a layman like me. Otherwise, the present software is good enough as it is, but the above problem needs to be rectified before the 2013 tax version would be marketed, if in fact there's a plan to do so. I didn't have this kind of problem with your previous years' software.

In general, Turbo Tax (Standard) does the job.
However, compared to several years back when I first started using the product in days when it was called "Quick Tax", the product seems a bit less intutitive and more arduours to use.
Even when doing taxes using "Easy Step" questionaire, it seems like it is not ID-ing deductions as easily as it did in the past, and I'm having to manually search for items using "Forms" method to find what I need.
In the end, Turbo Tax got the job done, but I'm a bit disappointed in current capabilities of the product.
Somehow, the earlier quality of the product seems to be lacking.

Entering Receipts takes time
If you have a lot of similar medical receipts it takes a while to enter them all. It would be nice if you could somehow autofill the information that is the same on the receipts such as who you paid and who it was for.

TurboTax 2012 Standard
Word size too small, font too fine and color too light, especially the underlined words which, when pointed with the pointer, the light blue becomes even lighter in color. Very difficult to read.

Dissapointed

Lacking in straightforwardness
Dispense with the pictures and put more questions on each page. The questions asked when getting the file ready for e-filing are redundant and were already covered earlier in the completion of the return. The instructions are not clear at all. They should say "ignore any questioon that does not pertain to you or your situation."

Turbo Tax Standard
I had income on T5's in box 13 and 14, the amount of box 14 (income from other sources)wasn't incl. as interest - came up as error on review screen and needed to be changed.
Foreign pension was a bit tricky, didn't figure out how the tax treaty exempt portion was supposed to be put in on line 256 - ended up capturing it manually by double clicking on that line.
Overall easy to use, unless you have something out of the ordinary

No very intuitive
I was not impressed with this software , My wife runs a small business and I did not see any advantage to purchasing the upgrade nor did you give me any good reson to buy it!!!! Show me examples of how the upgrade will be of benefit!

Annual pain in the butt
This software appears to have different sections designed by different people and they didn't talk to each other . The input for different slips is not all the same to input several things the spreadsheets are not active and getting to the input requires a double click at an undefined point on the spreadsheet . The help sections do not give much of a description of the tax rules for the associated parameter.

Full-Time Student problem
It seems that if you were born in 1994 and were a full-time HIGH SCHOOL student you have no where to indicate this!!! My grandson was born in 1994 and took an extra semester (thru to the end of 2012) to boost his marks for university, so he was still my daughter's dependent, however this scenario is not even considered!!! He doesn't have tuition, but was not born in 1995... what to do?????

Hire a new programmer to verify inputs.
Not impressed with the programming verifications before sending out updates, net file area where it asks for SIN and Birthdate, the Birthdate boxes are off the page. Looks like the training came from Microsoft they are good at that. I updated the program on April 23/2012 and the error is still there.

Turbo Tax useless for efiling?
I have been a Turbo-Tax user since 1992 (Cantax, Quick Tax). This year is a night mare. It will not allow me to efile. Something to do with the election to stop CCP payments. It states if you are not between 65 and 71, this section does not apply. My father is 95, and has not paid CPP since 1983. So if this stiops efiling then the whole program is useless. I am between 65 and 71, and I have to fill in these so called election forms. Is this something new? Again it stops e-filing. If I seem frustrated , you are right. I am. 20 years of excellent service with you software has just been destroyed.

Not quite as good this year
For some reason, the program seemed quite "buggy" this year. Occasional numbers had a tendency to disappear after they were entered and had to be corrected several times. We never had this happen in previous years.

Awkward to use
Navigating the Step-by-step Method proved to be awkward. The questions were not posed in a clear and unambiguous manner. The grammatical structure of the questions can use improvement. Keep it simple. Use no compound sentences. Write plainly.
Finding the schedules for entering foreign source income and deductions and tax credits was not straight-forward. The Step-by-step Method hides the questions and answer bullets in a hidden menu which is only revealed if the user first answers yes to a question which by its design is not intended to elicit a positive answer -- i.e., the question of foreign income, deductions and tax credits is not asked directly and unambigously.
The pop-up advertisements are an unnecessary distraction.
The explanation pop-ups are ocasionally useful; some could use further elaboration, while others are only minimally informative. Recognizing that this is a basic version of the program, perhaps the short-comings are understandable.

Problems going back into program after exiting.
This year I had a number of problems with the software. I have used this for years but this year I found that if I closed out of the program, it wouldn't load again unless I rebooted the computer. This is the only program working this way. I thought that maybe there was a bug in my version so I even checked to ensure I had the latest version.
