Areas for Improvement
I would ask that the developers look at some of the warnings that are being issued when doing the review. For example when doing a return for a couple it appears that warnings or suggestions are only based on the value of one return not the 2. Retired couples who individually may qualify for the OAS Income Supplement will get a message to check it out and after doing so find that their combined income disqualifies them. Not a good service to the customer.

Turbo Tax Standard
Seems to have more glitches, especially w.r.to charitable donations optimizer -- still creates forms that are unnecessary for a particular tax payer -- ie when all the numbers are zeros, why does it create the form????
Seems to be less efficient than the old Quick tax

Printer problems
2 years in a row having problems with the printing aspect. Tells me to select a printer and when I do, does not move forward to let me print. Keeps saying to select a printer. Very frustrating.

Difficult to see

suggestion
I would have liked to Netfile. However I had to attach a cover letter with a request to assess and interpret. If you had a box like this, where we could simply send our request we could Netfile and save all the paper!

I have been using net file for several years and since this year it was only available through download I went bat to trying Turbotax. I was disappointed that it was pretty much the same. It is not very intuitive if you are not a tax expert going back to make changes is cumbersome. Overall the software lacks polish, switching back between forms and easy step to navigate to specific numbered boxes seems very primitive to me. Also asking questions from users about specific deductions seems counterproductive, that’s why I buy software for you to answer the questions. Overall still needs a major upgrade.

OK, It works
I've sent a couple of reviews previously, the second not very flattering. I was told that there was an erroneous character in the address somewhere. I had updated the address info once but it still didn't work. The next round, I went through and used the delete key for every area in the address blocks, and finally it worked. It would be useful if there were some sort of highlight for the area where the error was located. Otherwise, frustration level is high.
Anyway, having updated all blocks in the address area, the program worked.

Visually Displeasing
I find difficult enough to enjoy doing taxes with the paper copies of the forms because they are so drab. The interface of TurboTax can be a little more visually engaging. For instance, when we use it at a full screen size, the line length for the text is too wide and the font size is too small. If the line length is to be wide, the font size should be bigger so that we don't lose our place when we are reading.
Ultimately, taxes aren't fun to do; but, we need to do them. What if TurboTax made doing taxes a bit more fun and visually engaging? Just a suggestion.
EasyStep is a good idea; however, it needs a bit of work. It keeps bouncing from place to place and sometimes it doesn't provide users with a link if we have questions on a certain item.

Lengthy and not impressed
It took approximately 3 times as long for me to file my taxes with turbo tax than it did to have it done by an accountant and I am receiving less than half of the return of the previous year. Next year I will NOT be using Turbo Tax.

Programming Error
Long Term Care Expenses
The Turbo Tax program has some errors in it. Keeps insisting that you have to enter the amount of taxes paid and this is neither necessary nor needed by CRA! In fact after repeated attempts to correct the so-called error the program compounded the errors by indicating the I was trying to claim in all the categories indicated, something that I had never entered into the program.
More interesting was when I looked at the detailed tax return it had actually accepted the amounts entered and showed the amount that would be paid by the Ont. Gov't in 2013!!

Frustrated
Because one of my in-laws died last year, the product didn't allow both in-laws to be opened up in the software at the same time. I was constantly closing down and opening up the other form to get the numbers. Very frustrating. Good tool when having to enter simple information.

Ease of use
I find that as I have accounting experience, it's slower than more professional software to navigate between the different schedules. The reminders about credits, etc. are handy.

Font Size too small
The font size is much too small for a senior's eyes.
I am sure that there is a clever way to modify the monitor display driver software.
However, that is not the correct way to fix this problem - which has been occurring for a number of years with TurboTax.
Have a "text size" button included in your software to easily change the text size displayed on the CRT.

CONFUSING
HAVE USED FOR 12-15 YRS NOW BUT STILL GET CONFUSED BY THE CAPITAL GAINS/LOSS SECTIONS AS SOFTWARE DOESN'T SEEM TO HAVE AN OPTIMIZER.
CAN'T PRINT COPIES OF MOST OF THE FORMS AND SCHEDULES WITHOUT GETTING 'CHARGED' FOR ANOTHER 'RETURN' -

Other software seemed easier to use
One thing that bothered me was the "help" column that appeared at the right hand side of the screen. There was no way to get rid of it, I had no occasion to use it, yet it made for much scrolling back and forth so that I could see the buttons that I needed to have access to. It would be better to have it available as a callable mechanism, but first explain how it might be useful.
The optimize mechanisms left me cold. It wasn't easy to recognize the optimum selections - or rather I couldn't. But yet, the review process kept haranging about the need to check for the best choices. Nuisance!

SO SO
HAD SOME TROUBLE NETFILING, STATED I HAD AN ERROR THAT WAS NOT THERE, SPENT AN HOUR ON THEIR 'LIVE COMMUNITY' WAITING FOR A RESPONSE JUST TO FIND OUT IT IS JUST USERS LIKE ME RESPONDING. FINALLY HAD TO RE ENTER EVERYTHING BY NOT FILING MY TAXES AND MY WIFE'S TOGETHER. VERY EASY TO USE WHEN YOU DONT RUN IN TO ISSUES THOUGH.

50/50 split required for Schedule 3 & (SUPP)
Same problem every year. TurboTax needs to have a 50% option for Schedule 3 SUPP. Else it forces the tax payer couple to enter all the stock trades twice. It takes an extra half hour or more for the active trader.

Frustrating
I found the instructions for Netfile to be vague. As a first time user of Netfile I needed an easier walk through than what was available. Through trial and error I was finally able to do it but it was extremely frustrating.

Turbo Tax 2012
This years taxes seem to take forever to do and I think there were problems with the programme as for as the Medical and Donations were concerned. Anyway, finally have finished them and maybe next year will have to get an accountant to take over these "simple taxes".

Several discrepancies this year:
-would not update (CD version) nor direct download version. May be TTax, may be my computer?
- "What's new" said for 2011; either the information was obsolete of the title was wrong.
- when Netfiling, kept telling me it had detected no internet access, desipte my open and logged on browser.

I was disappointed particularly in the review section. It is NOT user friendly and leaves the user to himself in trying to figure out how to proceed with warnings etc.
Filing was also a problem; as I write this I am not even sure whether I filed or not.There was no message if it did or not.

Needs a program for Apple. McIntosh computer. Hard disc needed not one on the internet.
Condensed version appears to have left out some pages which had information on it at the same time it had sheets with no information on it.
In certain sections boxes with numbers were not available and you had to search forms to get the number.
