frustrating
Even though I saved Turbo tax in my computer, when I tried to re-open it the next day, it would not open.
I had to remove Turbo tax from my computer and then re-install it.
I never has this issue in previous years

This software is easy enough to follow however not at all easy to see!! The screen is 80 % empty and all the info/ instructions are crammed at the top and or sides. I have a large monitor but still I was compelled to use a magnifying glass. Also the contrast with the light blue writing in the forms is not sufficient for good visibility. Why not make use of the entire screen space and save us much frustration...The pink forms were easy to read...

cllumsy and slow
this is my 3rd time using turbotax and I found it very slow and awkward to use. Hard to go back and change specific information. Gives annoying warnings that it should know don`t apply based on previous questions answered. Help info was usually not helpful.

2011 Turbo Tax Standard
They really have not changed this much.
The medical expense worksheet is a pain in the butt
You should be able to skip thru one return if you are doing joint returns in review mode
The review function is good for checking and picks out mistakes

one flaw
I used turbo tax online last year and I could not transfer last years files to the cd version of turbo tax this year. Very very bad, really made my blood boil.

Used To Be Good!
Too many questions to answer for a basic return. *.tax file should be easier to locate. Why don't you save it to the desktop by default since that's where the computer looks for it first. Duh!

Getting better
Finding this software is getting better every year: Format feels less complicated, interfaces run smoother and the help files are better: easier to access, bit quicker response time and the answers are clearer. I especially appreciated being able to import information from last year's return - speeds up the process, and reduces data errors.
A few things that could be improved:
- insisted I had medical expenses, even though I did not select.
- Still a bit of a pain to navigate. Reviewing information is tedious and repetitive: If you don't flag, you have to go through every page of a section. Same issue applies for updating information.
- The nag screens to confirm everything is done properly, and nothing has been missed, are probably necessary, but, are too repetitious, and go from helpful to irritant very quickly.

Won't use Mozilla Firefox
My complaint with this software is that is doesn't use Mozilla Firefox, which I have set as my default browser. It is using an extremely old microsoft explorer - and then it keeps telling me "your browser is ancient" well I have a great up to date Mozilla Firefox - just use it!!!

"improved" to less than last year's version
The new EasyStep Interview screens are clunkier and harder to use than last year's edition, and forced me to sift through my papers in a non-intuitive order, especially when doing two spousal returns at once.
The suggestions during the EasyStep Review need to be smarter; suggesting to use the donations optimizer after it has been used, suggesting to claim provincial benefit XXX when the other spouse is already claiming it (one per family), etc. are just annoying and make the process take longer.

Confusing
I found 2011 Turbo Tax Standard more confusing than previous editions. On more than one occasion, after having filled in requested information (on income, for example), I was asked for the same information a second time but under a different format. It was not clear whether I had to provide this information again or not. The only way I could tell that I shoudn't do it, was that when I did, the running tab of how much I owe in the upper right corner rose. This indicated to me that in effect they were misleadingly asking for the same info again. Bad.

Navigation still an issue
I completed my and my spouses returns over a month ago. I saved them as ...tt's and pdf's. When I reopened them to day I was immedately presented with an offer to purchase quicken, but how to get back into our tax returns was NOT obvious. I had to play with the navigation tabs at the top of the app. and work my way back through the review process, before being able to file our returns. I had visions of having to reenter all our returns over again, which didn't make me appreciative of your software. All in all a bit of frustration near the very end of the process.

ok but
Font size is too small and not enough contrast between text and background (font seems to be gray, not black) Too much scrolling down...really wish they would work at reducing the number of clicks necessary to get through. Overall, OK but better design would be appreciated.

Medical expenses limits
You are not made aware that there is a limit of 120 medical expense entries until you've exceeded that number and contact TurboTax. It would be nice to know about this earlier.

Turbo Tax 2011
I continue to have problems with the browser. I don't use internet explorer, and Turbo Tax will not allow the use of a different web browser. I spent 3 times the time trying to transmit my return as I did entering data.

Good software, year over year
I've been using this software for many years. I am quite happy with it and how it simplifies my life when it comes to filling my taxes.
I would love a more comprehensive explanation why I cant enter a value (override) and where i can make the correction. Many a time I am left frustrated because i cant enter a value in a field that I need to complete but there is not clear link or destination where I can make the require change.

One on One Help.
I feel that the "one on one" professional help should have continued till the end of April. Because of personnel matters I was not able to complete my tax return before the April 15/2012 dead line for help. There were questions I wouild have liked to ask, but had to find out another way.

not so easy to navigate
I found a few issues this year versus last year. The easy step (especially for my children's return as students) was not working. once I transfered the data from last year, the easy step function did not work and I had to go through the various forms.

Less easy to use

Too difficult to make corrections
I found it comprehensive but in order make and change or correction you have to scroll through pages and pages. There shoulld be some way yo jump just to the section you need. If there is some shortcut for this, it should be explained better.

I always start electronic filing with great trepidation as I have a history of losing all info or hitting the wrong key. I find the reading all the instructions very boring hence I loose interest and my mind wanders off to some other subjects.

2011 software full of bugs
I have been pleased with this software in prior years and the helps section has improved steadily. However, I had a lot of difficulty using TurboTax this year. Perhaps because it was used on a MAC (Windows XP installation)? The data for my husband's and my combined returns was corrupted twice. When I would change my mind about where to declare income, I would make the necessary changes, including to our personal profiles, but later I would find they hadn't "taken". Eventually I made a point of doing a save right after such a change and that seemed to fix it. I had to talk to a tax rep and get an override to fix one error that I couldn't remove from the return's memory any other way. All in all, I was worn out by the time I got to the netfiling stage. I just may make the switch to free online tax software next year!

Filing Problems
Most years I have used this software I have found the interface between this programme and the income tax revenue software is wanting and this year is no exception. Efiling which should be one of the easiest parts to complete continues to punish. Surely the experts can make this more user friendly.
