No Auto Save function
The program was fine but I didn't periodically save my file as I progressed through the Steps. My computer had been plugged in but somehow it became unplugged. With no warning, my computer shut down. On re-booting, there was not temp file autosaved in either Turbo Tax or Windows. I lost an entire day of data entry as I had almost finished entering data. Since the program is to save time, the advantage was defeated for me. Yes, I take some blame myself as I know to periodically save, but was confident the computer was plugged in. My computer also does not really flag low power as my previous computer did. Programs such as Microsoft Word have an auto save feature that at least backs up periodically to a temp file and not everything is lost on a catastrophic power event.

transfer file
It is very unfortunate and cumbersome that you cannot transfer previous year's online return to a software pc version. this should be disclosed by turbotax on the box so as to warn users.

Not impressed
I switched to another (less expensive )tax software for the past 5 years and tought I would give turbo tax another try. I was sadly disappointed that it was not as intuitive to use and was not as user friendlly as the other option I was using.

Good program but too restrictive
I like th ease of the program but too many barriers to being able to stop, print, review and continue. It requires too much time to flip between screens - seemingly to prevent users from using too many returns. Ease up, the product has been bought and paid for.

so-so product, caution advised
I've used TurboTax (formerly Quicktax) for several years. I USED to be satisfied with it. Last year, I used the online version. Big mistake. It did not have a forms option. Friends of mine found they lost data with the online version. They saved it and when they went back, it was gone. So they bought the desktop one. This year I bought the desktop version and learned that I could not import the data from my online version last year. Quel catastrophe! This is a serious glitch. I had to find and import last year's data manually. Do not EVER buy the online version. It is seriously flawed. I MIGHT recommend this product to a friend.

This product could be more user friendly. When I tried to enter some information, I would get a message that the information would be entered automatically from another source but I had a hard time finding that source to enter the information. Also, I could not override it. Having the program go to the right page so the information can be entered would be very helpful. Thank you.

a bit grumpy
I've used Quick/Turbo Tax for about 18 years. This year--about the 10th that I've filed w/ Netfile--the last steps were tedious and cumbersome. When I hit "browse" it took me right to the WRONG file format and I could NOT move out of the "browse" easily to locate the *.tax filed required. I had to move around to the computer and documents section. This was the first time such confusion and extra steps occurred. I don't know what happened in the programming (or was it my fault????).

My wife & I didn't find this program as user friendly as in the past. We've used Turbo Tax for past 7 - 8 years & we found this was not their best product.

It should do better
When you have a software based application , it should provide you more tools , questions and options , guidance and then help to fine tune your tax preparation to ones specific needs , now that would be a software that would be worth its money , what makes you different than the crowd of Tax software makers. if this is not making sense, study the difference between BLACKBERRY & the IPhone. at this stage Turbotax is a Blackberry and you know where its heading- if you are doing what everyone else is doing then what is UNIQUE ABOUT YOU ?

Medical Expense Problems
The medical Expenses optimizer does not work properly. I had to override it to claim the expenses under my spouse's higher income which resulted in a $200+ greater tax refund than if I had gone along with the optimizer. Turbo Tax really needs to correct this glitch. Meantime, pay attention to the results of the optimizer if you are using it.

There were a couple of things that I wish had been clearer. There was one warning in my spouse's return that when I clicked on "Tell me more" just took me to a section of the actual form but didn't show me or highlight exactly what was the issue. Aside from that, very straight forward.

Updates NOT more helpful
I have sucessfully used this product for many years however I found this year I had glitches and new functions that were more frustrating than helpful.
I found the "fix it" selections fixed nothing and it was difficult to make changes. For example it recommended that I save medical expenses for another year but deleteing them was near impossible. Once you did this it would not recognize the changes throughout the document this meant that it would tell you you had errors even though I went through several times start to finish making the appropriate changes. This was the first time I was told net file would not accept the return because of this and it was infuriating. Previous years I could make changes easily and have never had any problems.

I don't like how you have to go back to step 2 to change any details and most times even when you change it there, the information does not truly leave. Most of the time I have to start the Income Tax over again.

My problems with Turbotax
I was disappointed because I have never had any problems with Quicktax which I had used for some 10 years. I have slipped up a few times when I was using the Turbotax and then when I tried to correct the situation, I could not do it. Your program just did not keep my corrections. I had to call your support center and they had to help me. Very annoying.

Disappointing
I found that this years TurboTax was very difficult and uninformative in several areas. I spent much longer time preparing this years return than I ever experienced before with TurboTax or QuickTax.I hope that next year there is no "bug" in the product.

Although this program tries to be user friendly -- it is not so much! Automatically transfers information from previous years, and if not wanting to use that info in the tax year, you have to find the appropriate forms and remove it. Very frustrating, and not user friendly.

Printing
I am shocked that you would put out a product with such a major flaw. I could not print the return. I made and saved the .pdf file but your program could not be encouraged to recognize any of the printers that I have available. Luckily, there was a work-around on the Internet, which I followed and got the printed copy that I needed. Where is the patch to correct this? I updated my version, just before this session and was using the latest program with all the available updates.

Needs improvement
I like the program but entering the Medical receipts needs to be improved it is to hard to go back check what has been keyed in and there should be some more information for when the non-refundable exceeds the tax payable. Add a running total or at least show the difference somewhere, it's very frustrating trying to figure it out.

Program Needs Improvement
The program needs to be more intuitive when requesting data, such as SIN for example-required format of "999 999 999" not "999-999-999". The program needs to either provide the format or automatically format the data when entered. The client should not have to guess it.
PS, it would also be beneficial to have a spell checker for this review area.

Great for the basics, but it can be tedious to go back and forth to enter or adjust various values. Also had to manually dig through a number of forms in order to determine where to enter a few less common items.

Frustrating
Moving around on the program was difficult, especially if you use the "interview". The "help" section was ok, but I finall had to phone to solve a problem. And for some reason it lost all of my income data and I had to reenter it. In the end I didn't trust the program enough to file without going though all the forms to make sure that the data had been entered correctly. I also found the "optimizers" confusing at times, especially when I tried to adjust the result.

NOT AS GOOD AS BEFORE
I find it harder too navigate around, it was easier in the past to switch between the easystep process and the form process. The program was reinstalled twice and still would not accept up dates. I missed the older help and advice column on the left. I am new to filing from quebec and was surprised at the end that I could not net file and I found Turbo had no 'helpful' information about that.
