Not the best version of this tax software standard I expected. The workflow has lost its ease of flow and appears to ignore responses; incorrectly showing up as either tax savings, warnings or errors later on. Unusual overrides identified when none were done leaves one just a little skeptical as to its accuracy and reliability.

TurboTax is a mess. Nothing is clear, the instructions ask if you have certain things and then proceed to never inquire about them again, and there are actual spelling and grammar mistakes scattered throughout the program; It’s embarrassing.
On top of that, it keeps pushing paid features like a desperate street vendor. I came to file taxes, not to be sold a dozen add‑ons I don’t need. The whole thing feels clunky, outdated, and weirdly unprofessional for a company handling sensitive info.
I'm no longer recommending it to anyone.

I have been a user of CanTax, and forced into TurboTax. I prefer to use the forms method of input (I find the interview method very cumbersome and time consuming), and that works similar as in the past. The main problem is when you go into review and print/save. Somehow this has become more complicated and the help seems to only address the "interview" approach. I was having problems printing for sending to CRA (did not get my Canada ID in time) and it was difficult to find. Called the help desk and their only solution was to re-install the program. He put me on hold as he was going to look it up, and in the meantime I found it. Never had this kind of problem in past years.

Bought again this year to import last years info but nothing came through. Fiddly install. Too many repeat questions are confusing. Upgrade offers list incorrect possibilities making user think they are wrong. It would not merge couple filing so one had to pay and other gets a refund, although refund was greater. Basically counterproductive

I have used for over 10 years but this was by far the worst experience. A number of bugs (for example Lifelong learning repayments not working, and weird crap that triggers self employment/business income reports such as having "source of foreign income" in a T3 but no Foreign income reported. This triggers a wack of errors requiring additional self-employment and business income. Worst of all is that May 1st they immediately shut down their call is support - even though CRA extended the filing for those with capital gains (because of the mess CRA created insisting on higher capital gains inclusion reporting)... Turbotax you need to keep the support lines open for two weeks after filing!! especially when filing has been extended. And fix the bug please !!

They've changed some of the UI logic and the 2024 version gets confusing for some pretty stupid reasons. For example, despite answering NO to disposing of property - it keeps prompting a warning about disposing of property. If I've answered NO - why keep prompting me? I not even confident it submitted the forms correct. Medical expenses don't print out or get saved with the PDF and if I try to print the Medical work sheet on it's own it prompts me that I'm using up a return. Finding forms for whatever reason got a lot harder. I don't know what's changed - don't have the time to go back to 2023 to compare the interfaces but after using this software for the past 8 years, this version sucks. Hopefully they get their act together by 2025 or 2025 will be the last time I use this product.

Need to install an old version onto a new PC? Even though you bought and own the software they won't let you reinstall anything older than 6 years even though CRA requires you to keep 7 years. Their servers won't validate your license even if you have the old install files and your installation key.

Asking for sharing information re: common law information at the beginning of the program workings. It should have been done at the end then automated, We had to print out the return in order to retrieve the information. You are supposed to shorten our tax filing work not extend it.

Too many issues besides being over charged and I month later my refund request is still open there was too many issue with trying to Netfile this year. I know you blame CRA but I run into issue with no error codes just wouldn't let me file.

don't know what intuit was thinking when they made each license key be tied to only one account. We are a multi-generational family who buys 1 copy of Standard so we can file for 5 people. 3 belong to 1 family, and the other 2 are the grandparents. I would like to be able to file all 5 returns without requiring having the grandparents log under the child's account, or vice-versa.

1. Whoever designed or created the questions for 2024's tax filing need to come up with a better way of asking about marital status for 2025's tax filing. Two people had to re-read the question, "Were you or your partner/spouse married, in common-law relationship, separated, divorced, widowed, etc. since December 23, 2024?" What if you have been married PRIOR to December 23, 2024? There is no question that takes that into consideration!
2. Near the end, a question for schedule 3 popped up when that question was not around in the beginning! Schedule 3 revolves around the tax filer's investment or principal asset. When you answer the following question, there is a tick box for "none of these apply", but the explanation associated with that choice makes the tax filer admit that they have flipped their investment or principal asset when, in fact, they have not done any sort of home renovation. What the heck, creator of Intuit Turbo Tax? Are you in cahoots with the Liberal Government Party of Canada, trying to trick the tax filer for answering a question that does not even apply to the tax filer's current situation, so that the tax filer will end up paying the government and not get a tax refund?
3. Near the end, questions surrounding importing one's inputted tax information onto CRA's NetFile, so the tax filer gets a notice about their return in as fewer as 8 days by registering for an e-mail or going paperless. Why is there no option for those existing CRA account holders to log into their already registered e-mail with the CRA website, import, and amalgamate relevant tax information???

The button size was terrible. I was unable to move windows between multiple screens. The application froze when interacting with CRA because my browser required me to indicate user.

The SW has grown more confusing than in the past. There are many fields that do not apply to me, yet it kept prompting me to enter some value. I am a Canadian Citizen yet I had to check of I am a Canadian Resident. Silly isn't it. After I made some overrides, I changed my mind and it wouldn't auto fill those field and continued to show those field in red even after I entered the figures prior to overides. I am not a first time home buyer, yet it kept prompting me annoying me with that review question. Why did not the SW ask that question during data entry. I am a retired person, with a fixed income that is pre taxed and a few simple investment receipts sent to me by my financial institution, yet it kept me asking if it is subject to capital gain or just an investment. The SW is no longer as easy as it used to be when I first started to use it in early 90's. I don't know if I will continue with it in future or go to another SW.

I've been using Turbotax for last 10 years & the previous version were very user friendly. This version of Turbotax is complicated with very poor guidelines.

It is frustrating that there is no longer a CD or DVD available. Also, the capiyal gains had to be added in a different location so they did not appear as a net capital loss. Also, the additions have proven incorrect.

IN CANADA YOU CANNOT TRANSFER YOUR 2023 ONLINE DATA TO A 2024 DOWNLOAD VERSION OF THE PRGM....POOR SERVICE

I have used this software previously with good results but 2024 was different. The software had errors that were not addressed for over a month. Something as basic as T3 capital gains were handled improperly. Communication was poor and there has been no word of compensating those that could not file or were locked out of their Netfile account. Test your software before you release it.
