Company is Dishonest
I have used TurboTax for several years to do my taxes and have had no issues with the product. Was reassessed for the last few years and there is an issue with the software that incorrectly calculates the Ontario Child Care benefit and had to pay the CRA for back taxes, fees and interest. Contacted TurboTax about he accurate calculation guarantee and have gotten a run around and still no rebate based on the guarantee. This is a violation of there product terms and conditions. Have checked online and there are several others that have the same issue.

Yall should really invest in at least one competent software engineer. This UI is buggy, inconsistent and makes the whole ordeal of paying taxes somehow worst.

Too many program problems relating to income splitting on T3 tax slips.
Programmers did not proof their program which could have lead me to paying more tax than required.

We had used the system for years. Now it seems to be problematic getting figures clarified and see what we owe. I see what your company is doing... Making money by charging for the program then charging for a specialist knowledge afterward. you have LOST honest people from using your program.

Not happy using online license code
The first copy I bought wouldn't work so I had to drive back to the city to buy a second copy. I live in the country so that was a great waste of time and money that should not have been necessary!!!!!! I have used Turbo Tax for years and this was the first time there was a problem!

not satisfied with the service-standard
I am highly dissatisfied with the service I received from TurboTax on 04/08/2025 of Interaction - last wednesday I paid $60 for assistance with my income tax filing, but the associate did not complete the process and instructed me to call back for further help. When I attempted to finish my taxes and needed a review, I was prompted to pay again. This is unacceptable as the initial service was not completed. I paid for a service I did not receive, and now I am being asked for more money to review my own work. My tax filing remains incomplete due to this poor experience. I am very unhappy with the level of support provided."

Unexplained delays
TurboTax would not submit thru Netfile until 24 Mar 25. TurboTax claimed it was "CRA Netfile Error" but after contacting CRA Netfile, I got a different version. Not sure who was accurate. Eventually it worked out. Trying to reach TurboTax help desk to get assistance with NetFile/TurboTax feature was not a fun experience (Long Delay...)

Un reachable
I tried several time to get in touch with the advertised experts, and paid $67 for the privilege, but it was difficult to figure out how to get in touch with anyone to help with my questions. I finally found a phone number, but sat on hold for 20 minutes and then they hung up on me. Useless!!!

Error issues
I had an issue with my wifeès taxes. She only receives disability from CPP and her work insurance. The work insurance disability is not taxed. She received a retroactive lump sum payment from CPP for December 2022, January 2024, and all of 2023. I filled out a T1198 for her to adjust the taxes to rates within those years. The Turbotax program would not allow me to netfile the taxes because the program requires that the total amount on the T1198 be less than the total sum of lines 10100, 10400, 12799, 12800, and 13000 on her T1. All of these lines are for employment income only. Since she does not receive any employment income, the sum of those lines is zero. I informed Inuit of the error in mid-March. and I received an email on March 24th stating that the issue had been corrected. It further stated that by simply opening the program it would auto-update with the fix. I open the program and nothing. I went to the help menu and checked for updates and there were none. I tried the program anyway and the error was still there. I started a new return and the error continued. I called Inuit again on March 25th and I was put on hold so the customer service person could obtain help from tier 2. I asked if I could receive some compensation for my time, as I do the taxes for all of my wifeès family I simply asked for 2 returns at no cost as I had run out. They said that I could not have any compensation because there was no true error, as I could simply print the return out and mail it rather than netfile it. I was on hold for 1hr & 15min. when the system hung up on me. I called again today and spent time on with tier 1 and with a tier 2 on the line and gave up. I printed it out and mailed it.

Buggy
Very buggy. Software kept adding info to forms I had no intention or had not filled out. Even clearing forms didn't help. Couldn't netfile.

It's gone downhill
This product used to be good. Things have changed drastically. The Standard version has always been my go to product and it covered all of my needs. Nothing has changed tax wise for me but now it's a constant barrage of attempts to upsell me to a more expensive and unnecessary product. I also did my return with 2 different TT products and got different refund amounts? What gives?

2024 version has its problems
Purchased the program in Mid March assuming updates to be complete, but it still had some bugs and prevented filing of Federal income tax online. Had to mail it in.

Poor support
This year was a horrible experience. Forms not updated from government as well, Intuit support could have resolved my issue by simply giving me 1 step to clear and close one form that was being included but not used. Instead I wasted in excess of 3 hours on the phone with Intuit to accomplish nothing. I ended up figuriing out the problem on my own, NO CREDIT to Intuit support

trouble this year...
1) program would not download properly
- had to access program by "run administrator" mode as pop-up window advised
2) was able to netfile (at least I THINK I was able as I got confirmation #codes from CRA), but after filing I wanted to print a copy of return for records....tried and another pop-up box appears stating "final version of form not finalized, check for updates after Jan 2025". Well, I'm doing this now in March ....checked for updates, but apparently I'm up to date BUT box will not go away and I can't print return. Thankfully there seems to be a PFD file saved. Found using Turbo Tax this year very disappointing and time consuming. No issues in PREVIOUS years-not happy this year. I'm hoping the correct information was transmitted to CRA - not good when you're not totally confident with your tax program used.
3) Just not as comfortable with using as previous years...a few other nit-picking issues but I mentioned the 2 major issues.
I WILL TRY TURBO TAX AGAIN NEXT YEAR BUT IF ISSUES PREVAIL - I will look at some other program provider there after.

TurboTax Canada does not allow me to have 2 mailing addresses for common law couples. Although my spouse and I live at the same address, our mailing addresses are different with CRA for file-keeping reasons. Software does not allow me to override only ONE of our mailing addresses. This cause problems with CRA. This may not seem like a big deal to TurboTax, but it is to me since I have to file separate returns instead of together as a couple. The issue has me considering using other tax software after using TurboTax for over 15 years. The software is getting harder and harder to follow. ALSO: IF I WANTED TO PURCHASE AN UPGRADE, I WOULD HAVE PURCHASED IT IN THE FIRST PLACE. I ONLY REQUIRE STANDARD, AND THE CONSTANT SUGGESTION FOR ME TO UPGRADE IS IRRITATING WHEN I DO NOT REQUIRE AN UPGRADE FOR MY PURPOSES

Yearly Carryover of Info
Every year Turbo Tax asks me if I expect any major life changes, my answer is always "None Expected".
Every year when I transfer previous years info it says "Last year you told us you were expecting life changes" and I have to go through the same questions again and again!

Last year import failed this year
I always import the data from the previous year, it's one of the feature I love of this software. For the first time this year it fails and I could not submit my taxes. I had to redo the entire returns for me and my wife from scratch without any imported data to get it to work. Spent over an hour on the phone for Intuit to tell me to start from again. This is the first year I am unhappy with this product.

Bitter sweet
My wife is just part-time self-employed, but this process makes it difficult to just enter Self-employment Income and Expenses without all the business breakdowns (she makes under $30k per year, no HST number required).

Software was buggy
I've used TurboTax for the last 8 years. This year the software was extremely buggy. Navigation wasn't working, and RRSP search didn't populate (or work). Fortunately, all my documents were already at the CRA so I was able to download them. If that wasn't the case, I'd have never been able to add my RRSP contributions manually.
