Problems this year
I am doing a return for a disabled family member. I want to mail it and do not want to netfile. I could not find the path to do just that. I kept going in circles and the program wanted to print the entire return each time. The choices were to print a copy that is not for CRA or netfile. I did see a choice to print the entire return or schedules, but that was for the saved copy, not suitable to send to CRA. Secondly, on my own return, I ran into a problem when I wanted to just print the T1135 so that I could send it in on time. If not there are big penalties. I had not finished my tax return and wanted to netfile the tax return later when I would be ready. I got the message that printing the T1135 would be counted as another return. But it was for my own return which I had started already.

Poor product and NO support
1-upload of Quebec Relevés is not done correctly
2-there are a number of fields calculated by Turbo Tax and do not have an explanation e.g. line 31260. Cannot double click to go to source calculation or explanation
3-line 31205 does not carry the correct amount from the T4 to the TP1
4-There is no way to talk with someone about these and other unclear issues i.e. absolutely NO CUSTOMER SUPPORT.

VERY frustrating purchase
Has me going in circular decision paths that are very annoying. Not nearly enough topical (i.e. helpful to what page I'm working on) help. Terrible at allowing customers to progress thru the program. Made my blood pressure rise dangerously. No good suggestion/error reporting method. Why do I bother spending 6 hours on TTax and not even complete the filing?? Will not purchase Turbo Tax again. EVER.

Not recommended
I have used TurboTax for many years,but this tax year I had some changes. TurboTax did not make it easy when I had to change a field.
Override made it unacceptable to NetFile.

the review and print should be separate clicks.
i got a whole lot of printed forms that i did not need. custom printing should be an option.
such a waste of paper and ink. when i used this program a few years ago, somehow it
seemed easier to use

It'll do the job -- but there are glitches.
I bought the installer CD-ROM because I prefer to have a copy of the installer file. The install routine told me to launch SETUP.EXE from the CD-ROM, but there was no file of that name. There was another file which presumably an installer; attempting to run that resulted in a direction to run SETUP.EXE. I had to resort to installing TurboTax 2022 from a downloaded copy.
Page layout of some items is hard to figure out. A large part of the problem is very small indents for the subheadings under relevant headings that make it very easy to make a mistake when attempting to select appropriate options in the EasyStep process.
When I attempted to print my return for review, the print job was sent direct to the printer without providing any option to change printer settings. Does Intuit really think I want to print a 40-plus page document in anything other than a draft format when all I want to do is review the return? Come on -- printer ink is expensive!
If the EasyStep process offered any option or guidance concerning entry of capital losses to be entered on Line 25300, I missed it entirely. A Google search took me to Intuit's website where I found that information.
The EasyStep process mentions the availability of a deduction for digital subscriptions, but nowhere in the software help could I find any reference to digital subscriptions.
And in addition to the above, the on-line help is absolutely useless. Obviously, nobody on Intuit's staff has tried to draft a meaningful question in less than 170 characters.

Misleading
After filling in all the numbers, I should have had a $1900 return. It then says we qualify for the Canada Workers Benefit. It doesn't offer any explanation as to who should apply for it. So I say I'll claim it. Then a bunch of other questions pop up. After I answer them, suddenly my refund drops to just over $500, with no explanation as to why. And googling doesn't help either. Maybe fix this part of the program where it should state why we don't get the extra $1400. The same thing happened last year.

Just okay
I tried to import CRA information for my wife's return but couldn't. The software continued to wait for the info which wasn't coming and there is no cancel button, so I had to close the software and start over.
Couldn't find any place to enter a CERB repayment.
I feel that this software is quite pricey and shouldn't have issues like these.

Donations
The ability to share Donations between spouses is blocked in the download version of the standard Turbo Tax. This is needed in a few situations - where donations are high and taxes are low. Very frustrating and costs some taxpayers.

Still hasn't been fixed
Every year I find problems with TurboTax. Unfortunately they're often the same problems year after year. It still thinks I'm a farmer for some reason and for two years in a row has tried to advise me about Farmer food donations. I don't know what that is, and I have no idea how it comes to this erroneous conclusion two years in a row. This year again, it tried to throw away a huge amount of tax credits that should be carried forward. It didn't apply them to the current year and it didn't carry them forward, it just recommended that I get rid of them by massively reducing my tax credit number for no reason. Its RRSP recommendation was terrible too.

Could Be Better...
While it's understandably difficult to write and maintain software that enables you to file your taxes, the cost does is not justified for our simple returns. Navigating around the app wasn't easy, although I did manage it eventually.

Time for an upgrade.
The program is badly out of date. The graphics are very difficult to read because they are too small. The information in the help side is dated with information that has not been updated for the current year. Trying to use the Forms requires a guessing game of where to position the mouse cursor. The menu bar is difficult to read (small) and the menu icons below the menu bar is uselessly small. The bar to select the forms on the bottom left is equally bad. I'm needing to look for a better product.

not happy with this years turbo tax
last years turbo tax was a much better program. it took me a very short time to do my taxes, less than half the time that it did this year. It was unclear and difficult to follow!

Turbotax is becoming very difficult to use. It is no longer as user friendly as it has been in the past. Use to be able to complete a tax return in 15 - 20 minutes, now it takes over an hour to do one return. Some areas you can miss entering information because the selection for it is not readily apparent. For example where to select that you qualify for the Northern Residents Deduction. Had to go hunting for it. Also the program did not pick up line 71 of a T4 slip, and reported it as an error. This prevented e-filing. Had to skip the error checking which allowed me to e-file the return.
Another irritating feature was the constant pop up of ad to sign up for "expert tax advice" for a fee. Very annoying.

Terrible download
Like the product but absolutely disliked the time and effort to download spent almost 3 hours to download. Had to contact customer support 3 times to finally accomplish download. they should be able to improve this.

Poorly Designed Software for Sophisticated Users
Very poor software if you want to use forms method. No easy way to print the schedules and forms you want. Forms you have open are randomly closed the next time you use the software - why would you knowingly aggravate your customers this way? Very very poor help available using forms method.

Worst Experience in 15 years
I have used Turbo tax for the past 15 years. I have never had difficulty in the past. This year I found it difficult to choose the appropriate options, enter our data and Netfiling was a nightmare due to numerous Errors, Required Fixes that didn't need to be fixed, Tips popping up that I had already addressed. Fixed all that needed to be fixed and was locked out after trying to Netfile more than 3 times. One hour and 20 minutes on hold with Revenue Canada to unlock my file so I can Netfile.

Standard edition bugs
Would not import my tax slips from the CRA website. Simple tax return, T4, T5, T3. Thats all. Had a Turbotax technical help person look at it and no luck. Ended up manually entering my slips. Fundamental feature and its not working, not exactly raising my confidence that this product is reliable in all other areas as well. There is a free tax program that works better than Turbo tax. Next year I'm going to use the free version.

Okay purchase
There was an issue with the question of spouses living apart. Although the question was answered in the profile section, it came up as an error in the Review process and then would not let you make the correction. As a result, one spouse was e-filed but the other had to be mailed.

Frustrating
only can get help if you spend more money, and then might as well use a person to do it. Would be cheaper. Getting stuck on a warning with no way to figure out how to fix it is EXTREMELY frustrating. I don't know if I'll be back.... ESPECIALLY since you majorly messed up things for me last year. Which if I had known about BEFORE I purchased again this year I would not have. Feel like it's been wasted money.

Not Cheap
The Basic version would be fine as I am retired and have only pension income to report but had to go up to standard version to file jointly with spouse. Free version I tried to get would have cost even more than what I paid for Standard if I wanted to file jointly.

I f you try to download the program you paid for in person at the store. it does not provide an easy link. Instead, it keeps trying to sell you what you have already bought. I was only able to access the product through CD.
