Crappy, slow, clunky - never changes
Every year somehow I seem forced to buy TurboTax, and every year the software is just as terrible as the last year. Why isn't it improved? No idea, but it clunky, unhelpful, gives stupid "suggestions" and "warnings", and lets you make nonsensical choices, only later to tell you not to. It's sometimes I regret buying every year.

Found a couple of bugs in the program
My main bug was in Charitable Deductions Optimizer. I inputed a carry forward of $18K in the section just after Charitable Deductions. At the end Review, the program took me to another Charitable Deduction Optimizer. I thought it would work similar to the RRSP Optimizer. The RRSP lets you play around with amounts but not change the figures you entered. The Charitable Deduction Optimizer changes your carry forward wheter you want to or not and after you leave that screen it won't let you back into it, unless you work through the program again. In my case it changed my carry forward to $6K. It would have been a real waste to throw away $12,000.00 in deductible credits.

Wouldn't Recommend
I can see this being affordable and convenient for someone with little to no unique circumstances but this took me several hours and I still have concerns about what I have filled out.
As I type this I am waiting to print it out because it couldn't be sent digitally via NETFILE.

money grab 2021 year
Turbo tax has decreased the number of returns able to be filed with their program from 8 returns with income over $25,000 to 5 and they have decreased the total from 20 to 16 -- - this is a money grab. CRA says "you may file up to 20 returns per computer or online account using NETFILE-certified tax software in Canada for each tax year" Turbo tax used to be a great program for value - this will be the last year I use it as they have found another way to limit the returns to get more money - I used to be able to file all 20 with no income limits - then it changed to 20 with 8 over $25,0000 - and this year - only 16 with 5 over $25,000. I will find another tax solution for 2022.

Disapointing
I have been using TurboTax for over 10 years. Every year was an improvement over the previous except this year which turned out to be a major disappointment. There is a major bug that freezes TurboTax when the connection with CRA does not happen. TurboTax has to be terminated using Task Manager and restarted. On recovery, data goes missing. Also, some internal links are incomplete making what used to me one of TurboTax best feature into a unreliable source of confusion and leaving me wondering if I may have missed something.

Could not access last year's return
I could not open last year's return (done on TurboTax) so had to re-enter all the basic information. Last year I ended up purchasing TurboTax and it did not come with a disc. Not sure if this was the problem.

The Worst Turbo Tax ever
We have used TT for many years. It looks like they have dumbed down Standard edition this year. Income section didn't allow for contractor's income, as previous versions did. Also, health expenses poorly done, not easy to find and record travel expenses for medical expenses when not due to a disability. I had to go to CRA to get the amounts for my province's km rate for out of town specialist/medical services.

Provincial / Federal return issues
It seems that each year that I use this software there are issues between the Provincial Relevé 1 and the T4 Federal. It should be easy enough for the software to put things into perspective but it's always a pain.

Most frustrating Returns ever.
I have been a TurboTax/CdaTax for many/many/many years. This was the worst returns ever. I was never sure if the NetFiles actually went through especially the one where $ were due. I had real trouble getting out othe return without telliny how I intended to pay. That is none of your business'
At this time I really don't know if I will ever use TurboTax again.

Program needs a fix
When using the forms method I cannot enter a value for installments already paid. I have to go to the easy step method and enter it there then go back to forms. Also I could not find a way to print the dsum form.

Used to be good, now is clunky and full of ads
The warnings and other information had nothing to do with anything in my return but they were displayed several times. I understand you want to be sure. I also bought basic and was under the impression it was the same as standard but the UI is horrid so I upgraded. Some of the buttons are not responsive and need to be clicked multiple times and there is no indicator (spinner or otherwise) to let me know that things are happening or not. There are many other minor annoyances but the ads were constant and a detriment to the tax completion process. This program used to be great but it has gotten bloated and clunky and is not worth it anymore.

I trust TurboTax less because of this...
I've always been a fan of TurboTax Software, but the quantity of upsells and attempts to upgrade me this year (2021) was quite aggravating.
Turbotax used to pitch itself as software that could replace a human tax professional. The application was touted to be the best way to save money on taxes by doing them yourself. However, practically every screen for 2021 taxes sought to upsell me on a human expert who could check my return. As a result, I have my doubts about the software's accuracy. If I have to pay more for a human to evaluate my return or provide assistance during an audit because the software failed, that's a big red flag!
As a result, I'm debating whether I should hire a tax professional to handle my taxes in 2022.

Calling for advice
The T1 worksheet is not the same as 2020, especially when it comes to transferring dividends from my wife to my return. When I tried to call for advice, the automated service did not recognize when I said my email 8 times, even after pronouncing each letter slowly and deliberately. However, I never managed to talk to anyone. This is extremely frustrating and I will seriously consider a different software for 2022. I have been using TurboTax and its predecessor QuickTax since 1998. You have made changes to the software without alerting your long time customers, resulting is needless frustration.

Not crazy about the new version
I preferred the 2020 version of the disc over the new 2021 disc. I had just become comfortable with the older version, and was confident in knowing which forms I needed and where to find them. I did not enjoy this knew "questionnaire' style version, and found myself having to use the Help function more than I ever have in the past.

Do not download from RC or RQ
Had to do my tax 3 times. 1st time downloaded, then erased and entered T slips and Relever Slips. Tax were way off normal. Second time downloaded only, again it was out of wack. 3rd time entered T slips and Relever Slips and got results similar to last 5 years.

Clunky, slow and error prone
Be very careful if using the "Questions" method to enter your information. It generated a $4000 dollar error in taxable income that could not be reconciled or fixed. Go straight to the Forms method to save a lot of frustration. The constant flipping to worksheets to enter information was very time consuming...why not set it up to enter numbers directly on the T1??? A 2 hour job turned into 6???

Pretty complicated
I used TurboTax last year and this years seemed more difficult (on my first return done this year). Certain screens I wanted to print (like a summary of my interest income) didn't print or at least I couldn't get it to print. I like to know the exact details of the income I report, not just the total.

Stressful at times
There were a number of forms that I could not alter or change that needed to be. The forms themselves had print that was FAR too small to read.

Getting More Confusing
Kicks me out when only half completed section. does not respond all the time, doesnt open always sold principal residence and now super confused on how to complete forms no step by step and explantion is more confusing

Technical Support
When program does not do what the words in the help say there is no real intuit support to get get answers to my questions. This just happened in the 2020 TurboTax products. I can get information from the US site but not the Canadian.

Oversimplification made it difficult
TurboTax was almost oversimplified making it complicated. Please add in the relevant details to allow us to understand the steps better - we're not complete idiots.
