Too Infantile
Even using the Forms method is painfully slow. Especially bad is having to enter Medical Expenses and Charitable Donations line by line instead of by uploading a spreadsheet. Help is useless. Review is a time consuming waste as 90% of Warnings are irrelevant. Going for a more expensive version does not improve any of these things and Turbo Tax will probably blame CRA for some of them.

error code problem
Good product I have used for years, but this year I was not able to complete one return as I got an error "Your spouse/partner's date of birth is missing" went to the page as directed to fix, but there is no place to enter the date. Could not Netfile as a result of the error.

Horrible activation, poor user interface
The activation system is extremely sensitive, and sometimes will break for no apparent reason. Just finding a number for customer service is horrible (the activation screen does not give you one, and it's not easy to find on the web site). Once you reach them it's a very long wait (> 2 hrs) to resolve this issue.
Also, the user interface looks like it's a Windows 3.1 program crossed with a web site designed in 2007.
If you can get it to work, it does your taxes just fine. For the same price I'll probably go back to Ufile next year.

Won't install on all Windows 10 computers
Turbo Tax won't install on all Windows Computers as I have a laptop that this product refuses to install onto and I need to be able to as Intuit/Turbo Tax does not make a software package for Apple MacBook computers at all to be able to use Turbo Tax.
It is not convenient to have to try many computers that may or may not be owned by me as the limit for install is only 3 computers......after that somewhat hooped!
Not happy about these issues so I may have to consider another tax software program.

FRUSTRATING 2020
I HAVE USED TURBO TAX FOR YEARS AND LOVED IT. I WAS UNABLE TO SUBMIT MY TAXES NETFILE THIS YEAR. VERY VERY DISAPPOINTED. I ONLY HAVE A T4, T4(p), RRSP AND THAT CERB CHECKED COMMUNITY TRIED SEVERAL THINGS STILL CRA WOULDN'T ACCEPT NEED TO CHECK WITH MY SOFTWARE SUPPLIER, WHEN ON COMMUNITY IT SAID PEOPLE WERE SPENDING LOTS OF TIME TRYING TO FIGURE OUT ONE LITTLE THING...HOPEFULLY THIS IS FIXED FOR NEXT YEAR....ANNOYING TO SAY THE LEAST. I MAY HAVE TO TRY SOMETHING NEW NEXT YEAR. UNBELIEVABLE I HAVE TO SUBMIT VIA CANADA POST..

WORST YEAR
I've used Turbo Tax for years but this year's version was extremely hard to use. It kept jumping sections that had to be completed and I had to manually selected the form from the menu.
Also, why does this review ask me to Tell Others About myself? What does that have to do with the review?

clunky
I have used this product for too long. Perhaps I expect too much but it really could use a user perspective to clean up the layout and formatting. It is as simple as putting the box numbers in a logical order. I seem to spend time looking for box numbers laid out all over the map instead of being columnar and in order. duh.
I also find some of teh language does not make sense and I end up have to look elsewhere.
It takes me longer now to use the software than it would to do it by hand.
Sadly its a msdos product with a windows wrapper

Another example I get an error for entering a nick name that has a space

2020 Standard Problems

Turbo Tax Unfair to Seniors
Many of us (seniors) are on fixed incomes and must budget everything we spend. Turbo tax is unfair because you don't find out until you open and try to use the product that it won't work on your computer program (Windows 7). We cannot afford to run out and buy an expensive program to upgrade and many of us have a great deal of difficulty learning a new operating system. SHAME ON YOU TURBO TAX you could have at least put a warning on the outside of your package (in large enough print to read). I have been a very long time satisfied user of your product but you blew it this year!

Turbo Tax problems
We've used T/T for 8 years, 2020's return has been the most difficult to date. We come from overseas and where to place ones pension income is very ambiguous along with interest earned on various accounts.
Also to report in original currency or CND $ because one has to be careful not to unwillingly (double your earnings).
These areas need to be a lot clearer, also pensions splitting was a nightmare this year.
In summary: It needs to be crystal clear where foreign pensions are to be entered.
Even your drop down menu below does not cover Retirees. NOT GOOD ENOUGH.
Spent nearly two day's doing what should have been a very simple exercise as our affairs and not complicated.

Error - Your spouse/partner's date of birth is missing. hit the fix and Turbo Tax did not take you to where to enter the date of birth...very frustrating as Turbo Tax would let me netfile without the missing date. Took forever to finally figure it out.
Also my spouse passed away in 2020 and you had to close one and open the other return and could not go back and forth to see numbers that had to be entered. When I completed mine it should have gone to the spouses like some other tax programs do.
Can definitely use some work on their product and pricing

Issues
Two years in a row I have had to go back through the forms & track down errors that turbo tax built into the system by filling in forms that did not apply , who wants to send in a tax form that your not sure is filled in properly ...probably going to pay someone next year it's only $15 more ..not worth the headache

A Bad Habit
I started using tax programmes when I was self employed and got into the habit -- now that I'm retired, its hard to break. This software is created on the cheap -- it does not intuit answers from the data already entered, so one is often forced to answer stupid questions and second-guess prior answers. Its also hard to get clarifications of questions. I think I will read some reviews of other brands next year -- there must be a better product out there!

Very glitchy install
Purchased TTax CD the past ten years and this year I encountered a major problem with installing the software. During install, I was never prompted for my licence code - red flag number 1. Once installed, it said that it was the premier edition when I had purchased the "Standard" edition - Red flag number 2. When I checked the "Return Counter Summary", it said that I used up all 12 of my returns; this before completing a single return. After an hour and a half on the phone with Tech support, the only solution suggested to me was to install it on another computer. I give full credit to the Tech Support person, Ammar, for his patience and willingness to stay with me until it was up and running on the second computer. He suggested that the TurboTax 2020 that I had just installed was pulling up data from previous years - an obvious glitch in the software. I suspect that Intuit relies on return customers so it shouldn't be surprising that there are versions of TurboTax from previous years on my computer. All in all, it took more time to install the software than it took me to complete the four tax returns that I used it to complete - not a good situation.

difficult to use
I have used both Quick Tax and now Turbo Tax for years. It is getting harder every year to navigate. It should not jump all over and make you hunt for deductions you know you are entitled to and have been claiming for 20 years.

something seriously wrong
Several times my saved file was lost.
I could not enter key data in the forms method.
I will complete the paper CRA forms to double check.

Program did not handle donated shares. Filled out the T1170 but program still carried the full capital gain to Schedule 3. Had to revert to a paper return.
