Too many glitches for me
I had quite a few glitches this year when completing my return such as not getting the federal amount for laboured sponsored funds, not being able to transfer my taxes to Quebec when working in another province. I had to manipulate the data in the forms to get them. I even checked for updates but nothing worked except going into the forms.

|Horrible system to submit online
this is a horrible system that you have. please enlighten yourselves on immediate updates required once a customer installs the software on their system. there is zero notification advising we have not competed our online submission. just another money grab.

FAIL
After almost 10 years of using this program, it finally screwed up. It states that I'm not eligible to use NetFile because my 'self-employment' province is different than my residence province. The screw-up? I didn't have any self-employment income and so stated. And then there's no way to correct or explain.
I'll be looking elsewhere.

For very simple returns
The software is extremely inflexible and doesn't deal with numerous situations, thereby requiring lengthy and complicated work arounds. For example if foreign business income and taxes paid are reported on a T5013, the program doesn't pick up the foreign business income on form 2209, foreign tax credits, and so the foreign tax credit is not applied. If someone assumed the program was working properly then they would lose what could be a significant credit. Took a work around to get it right. Other examples like this.

Worst Year Ever
I have been using the product for many years but this year it was very difficult to use. I could not find how to transfer my son's tuition credit to myself. Not until the review did it come up. Also, T1008 was confusing and I just deleted them all since it skewed my results.

not good for deduction
there are defaults for medical deduction and caregiver deduction that are not optimized, and changes the return at every review.
also, the overcontribution message is unclear (even the help desk cannot fully determine the problem)

Not the easiest
The menu navigation is difficult. It's hard to go to a specific form that you've entered information. This is the first year I tried this hoping this was a better product because of the Intuit name, however after using this, I prefer UFile better. Ufile has a better interface and better value for money.

Constantly forgot information we entered
Although the program is quite helpful in putting together our taxes, the program has many times (3 or 4) ran into errors that caused it to forget all the information we had put in for the last hour. This resulted in significant frustration and uncertainty regarding the accuracy and completeness of our tax fillings. We had to review all the information multiple times to ensure the system had not dropper critical information. Very frustrating.

Can't get Updates
I have been frustrated as the program will not update. Whenever it offers to let me do that it says it can't do that and takes me to a 2015 Turbo Tax. It says go to Turbo Tax site but I can't get in as it says I am not registered but gives no method to register. What an inescapable circle. Very frustrating. Don't understand why Quebec resident has to pay Quebec tax and yet get back More than owed overall. Isn't it just taken care of by CRA. No explanation provided.

Declining Value
Every year I reluctantly purchase your Standard version which allows for 8 returns. I use only one of these eight returns but obviously I am paying for this service. I'm disappointed that your company doesn't offer a comparable and more reasonably priced version for ONE individual return.
Also during the return process it suggests I have to trade up to your premier version and obviously pay you more money. This is misleading. Even though I have stocks etc. I find that the standard version is adequate.

stull full of glitches
still doesnt work with cra site and hangs up so make sure you back up b4 chasing the cra download. Also 3 yrs running ive had my taxes increase by cra because of filing eith this monopoly. hope somebody else invents a tax program

Lacking
- Lacking explanations for many options, I had to google them to be able to fill out the forms correctly
- When clicking on explanations on some pages, check box is selected automatically. That's wrong.If we want to check out a box, it should not be marked by clicking an explanation.

Confusion
Trying to do 2 separate returns ;very confusing as all the data from 1st return kept coming up and had to delete it all as I went along. Last year I TRIED to do them together and was even more disastrous . I am not too computer literate. Trying to get in touch with someone??? no go; 1.5 hours trying.

does not seem to listen to interview questions, pushes upgrades, not easy to bounce around the return, best to all and extra info at hand before starting the program... just don't ask the program to get you ready for the next year

not so hot
things that should happen automatically, DON'T. Example, calculate best income split. Automatic carbon tax insert. Instead of hints, DO IT and show result and ask if desired.

Saving problems

Filled out my complete information and data early in march 2019 and saved it to my documents to complete later. When I went to open the file later all my information and data was blank??? Also It would not let me import my wife's data from CRA. I called CRA and all was fine with her account.

glitches
When comparing current and past year income and claim, the program reflected different amounts for past returns. The PDF's I saved showed the correct amounts. I also encountered a loop that would not let me exit a return I was doing for a couple. I even closed the program and restarted it. I'm still trying to fix this, and will do a search for others having this issue.

Principal Residence calculations
Form T2091 was extremely difficult to prepare and the form seemed to want to complete the same residence on two lines. The information from the Principal Residence Designation Worksheet would not carry to the Form T2091

Encountered problems with T5013/Rel. 15 forms:Missing boxes with no explanation, certain boxes with not enough room to enter 10 digits (box 14 in Rel.16) and 6 digits in box5 of T5013.. Lots of frustration and lost efforts

payment methods
the payment method does not state how to make your payment at the bank in-person. Only give, Online banking, Pay simply, Interac bank payment, Mail a cheque.
Also the address for payments is not the same as the one that the CRA gave me which is actually in Sudbury.
