Worst Year with Turbo
Software was a disappointment. Initial problem was incorrect Quebec form popped up for Ontario over 70 individuals. Reported to Turbo and it was fixed. But shoddy testing done before release.
Difficulty with reporting on two Principal Residences in same year. Had to contact CRA for help.

I was not impressed
I have used TurboTax for a number of years. Never have I had as much trouble downloading this product. I had to access the help option for which she was very good.

input problems
I had difficulty using the forms method. It took several tries to get the check boxes on the first page of the T1 to work. I also had to use the easy step screens to enter the address for a new return and to change the marital status box.

Not a good Year for turbotax
Product can not tell whether you own or rent a property when it comes to the provincial tax credits. Had to delete all info regarding renting in order to continue doing my taxes and missed out on the credits. Also both help on line and contact info for Turbo tax was not working kept getting an error.

Not So Easy This Year
Usually my husband and I have nothing but good things to say about Turbo Tax, but this year was poor. We kept getting a message that there were errors about overrides, re donations that were supposed to be optimized by placing the entire donation amount on one return (spouse who made the most income) but in the end, for an increase of a measly 36 dollars, and despite clicking on cancel all overrides, it determined my husband could not net file. Disappointing. We may just take our taxes to a professional next year.

OK Program
This is a ok program. I always do the easystep and there are always question there that should not be there. At the end there are fixes that should not be there, but they show up any way. What a pain.

crazy glitches drive me crazy
Review function tells you that the industry code you are using for self-employment is wrong, even though you got it from the CRA site. When you try and link to the list of industry codes approved by TurboTax you get a Error 404 screen. When you open the T-slips dialog, the window has become so large that the top and bottom of it disappear from your laptop screen and you can't close it and are stuck. You have to change your screen resolution in order to make it small enough to access closing buttons. Pathetic.

CRA says I owe money..not true
Because TurboTax EasyStep has a messed up T4A form my CPP was in the wrong 'box' and the CRA added it twice. The form presented by TT was very confusing and WRONG.

I have used and recommended TurboTax since 2010. But the 2018 version was horrible! While doing it most would periodically save but SAVE or SAVE AS could not be done! HELP was useless so I wrote a email to TurboTax and you ignored me. Only by some wit did I think I got it saved. Note: I THINK it is saved.

Also, my wife and I are separated with a legally separation agreement. Not until 2018 did your software hassle me over slip income and tax.

Lastly your HELP stinks.

Had a difficult time adding in other income to line 130. I had not answered the question correctly and for some reason save the whole return in pdf but then lost it and had to start over 2 times. This was a big waste of time.

Too Many Errors
I had to cancel out and re-do the return twice because of stupid, unexplained errors. Support was useless as it said it didn't know exactly why the error was occurring. Tried over and over to netfile and so many errors ended up printing and mailing. Won't waste money to purchase next year!

Whats wrong
Every year I fill in all the blanks right down to the last penny (remember them) and every year I receive a notice stating that I owe more, Very upsetting to say the least. If it happens again this year it will be last time I use this software

Really hard to use
Next year I will put the money towards paying someone to do my taxes for me, getting just too hard on my, I have been using Turbo Tax for about ten years and this has to be the most difficult year using this "Turbo Tax" , really sorry I used it, not even sure it is done correctly, sure hope and pray they make some GOOD changes, can't figure out what Intuit is doing. Hope I can sleep after this workout.

Buy lots of ink

Bugs In Program This Year
Having used Turbo Tax (and it's predecessor) for many years, I was surprised to find two bugs in the program this year.
First I had difficulty bringing forward the personal information from last year... ended up solving that issue.
Most frustrating was that after completing the preparation, I was unable to print the return or go on to e-file. After many attempts and almost 2 weeks delay, I finally was able to do so.
After more than 20 years of using the product with great success, I was very disappointed with this year's version.

TONS of trouble updating
Not acceptable at all. I don't work for this company and shouldn't have to search for the software updates, to run the software. No update buttons appeared. Anywhere. Very frustrating.
Usually very happy, but this update search and repeated attempts to load before TTX "wasn't available" took longer than doing the returns.

update problems
I have used turbotax for over 10 years. The 2018 version is by far the version where I encountered so many problems. I kept getting messages such as "not responding" or can not connect to server when updating the program. I kept being requested to register every time I opened turbotax.
Netfiling was impossible and It wasn't until the middle of March and 4 manual updates to finally resolve the issue.
I am not sure that I will using turbotax for 2019.

Download Canadian version for Mac
I retired last year and switched to a Mac-only household...Very annoying that I had to borrow a PC in order to download or install a version of turbo tax that would read my prior year's .TTX files. Yes, I could go online and fill in all info from start but avoiding that hassle is one of the big reasons I kept using this product year after year.

Lots of little bugs
I have been using QuickTax/TurboTax for over 20 years, and an increasing number of unresolved bugs is undermining my confidence in the software. Some examples:
- Double-clicking on calculated fields in forms often does not go the source as it should, and sometimes goes to completely unrelated forms that are not used at all.
- Answering "no" to Do you want Revenu Québec to calculate the tax shield..." should result in TT calculating and entering the amount, but it does not unless the corresponding line on INFOWS is manually changed to "No".
- For the second year in a row, Online Registration does not work.
-The Auto-Fill pop-up appears at random times for no apparent reason.
There are many more, some of which are merely minor annoyances, and others that can affect the bottom line for those who do not meticulously review their forms and catch such bugs before filing.
While nothing is perfect, in the past Intuit has worked to provide a produce as close to perfection as possible, addressing bugs as they become aware of them. In recent years, Intuit seems to have taken more of an "It's good enough as is" approach.
I will be looking at alternatives next year.
