LATE RETURN due to no clear instructions
I used turbotax for 5 years. This year a lot of changes were made and it seemed to have confused me at the end. My Provincial tax was never submitted!!
After submitting the Federal, I was asked to do a survey, I filed the survey and after that it seemed I was finished.
4 months later, I found out that the provincial tax was never submitted!
Due to all the new changes and survey, the turbotax flow of filing the return is not as smooth anymore as it was before.
This was a very crucial part of the submission and TurboTax should have made it absolutely clear that only ONE tax return was submitted. It seemed they found the survey more important than the actual tax returns.
A real pity, as I liked TurboTax in the beginning, it was easy and clear. Now they have made it more complex and it's more about their software rather than helping you ensuring you fill and file everything.

I thought i filed my return
i completed my form in in march and believed I had filed it. I have not rec'd any deposit in 2 months. so I sent in a late return.
IThis was my second year using Turbo Tax. I had signed up to receive a copy of the new form and purchased it as soon as it was offered in Dec or January. apparently it wasn't up to date. when I tried to find the updated version, I was unable to down load it . what's up with that?
I ended up filing it by mail. I thought this system was to save paper.
Turbo tax was not easy when it came to filing it. I don't like being late. you make me look foolish.

dependant problem
I can do a paper version faster, and the fact that I had to push other to have a child allocated as a dependent to spouse was crazy since it was imputed in my questionnaire in the beginning. As I file I am not feeling that all of my tax benifits have been acknowledges

Fix your error, TurboTax!
Box 28 isn't self-employment income, but somehow, we couldn't file using Netfile because we hadn't entered all the information for (non-existent) self-employment income. Infuriating!!

Impossible to Net file a Spouse Return
I printed a potion of my wife's return so that I could validate the entries. My return is not due as I am self employed. I wish to netfile her return. The system will not let me net file hers without fixing errors on mine - which I have nto actually entered anything. The system doesn't work and I can't get help. As such, I am printing and mailing her return. Your software wasted a lot of my time not allowing me to netfile her return without having mine complete. This is unacceptable.

Not user friendly
I have used turbotax for many many years and previous years versions were much easier to follow. For someone new using this program and not understanding what to look for etc would be confused.
If next years version stays the same I will look for another product for use for my taxes.

Has a few annoying weaknesses
I have used the product for years. This year I did a joint return with my wife. I had three issues. The first was finding an override I had inadvertently put in for my wife's name and birthdate. The override prevented Netfile and it took searching every form to find (rather than being led to by the software). The override was identical to the default, which I thought the software might have been able to determine was not truly an override.
The second was Industry Codes on T5013. There is no entry field on the form, and even when corrected on review, the program refused to acknowledge the fix and prevented Netfile of my return.
The last issue was a glitch that required me to review pension income splitting a second time, because the first "optimized" number recommended by the software was wrong. A second review corrected the error.

Don't recommend
Having used tax software for many years, I find this one to be below average compared to previous issues. The directions were unclear, the help window search was difficult to find what I needed, and there seemed to be multiple, unnecessary windows and steps.

I have just done a return for a deceased relative and am very dissapointed in how the program works. There are many questions that could be removed or changed as they do not apply or are inconsiderate.

Not user friendly
Sorry, I should have completed this review right after completing my income tax as the specific issues would have been easier to recall. It is now almost a month later and all I can remember is that it was frustrating using the software. I remember having difficulties with the quick step method and having to switch to the forms method so that I was better able to find the items I required.

Difficult to use
I don't know what you have done, but I've used turbotax for several years and I found this year's version much more difficult to use. The programs jumped into places I didn't want and thought I hadn't asked for. I was most frustrated!

I find that you asked the same question twice on easy straight forward questions and don't ask the important questions. Could you not make a tax return for the easy returns. With my wife and myself, basic income, medical expenses and tuition..... not hard stuff but your product makes it difficult. Dumb it down for the basics

too much upsales and too much
you did not build the software from scrap but you charge full price every year?? Sooner or later, many like me will be using free tax softwares. Totally not worth full price for it.

Painful
I fixed a Netfile error and it would not take it. So I could not Netfile a return. Then my other return there was a connection error to Netfile. Two other returns went through okay but it was still a frustrating experience for two of them

Getting Worse
I've been a TurboTax user for many years and am finding the product is getting more frustrating to use each year.
There is usually no ability to transfer or split some income between spouses, and it's still not possible to paste multiple fields concurrently.
And this year, there were NetFile issues. Although a workaround was provided, the experience wasn't what I would expect from the big player in the industry.
Time to move on.

Very hard to use easy steps - could not make moving expenses section work, then locked up entire process. Please review the two questions: distance from old address to new place of employment should be straightforward. Reply to the second question, distance from new residence to new place of work, would not work.

Problems and errors
Anyone using this software for Quebec provincial returns is in for problems.
Also, it will not let you netfile without an OAS amount if you are 65, whether or not you receive OAS.
Definitely lacking!

Generally ok - Optimizer wrong
If I had followed the Optimizer advice on Medical expenses it would have cost me $400.00 more than needed. Otherwise good program - I've used it for 5 years . I hope the others were right.

Limits & Glitches
This product is not supported by older technology versions of desktop operating systems (XP) and Internet Explorer (prior to Internet Explorer 8). As a result, when it came time to netfile, I was unable to do so, and couldn't update my system to allow me to netfile.
Additionally, for some reason, despite the fact that the Enclosures List included Schedule 4 to be included for my spouse's tax file, the system did not print a Schedule 4 and would not allow me to manually print a CRA version of Schedule 4, despite the fact that that supporting form was required for her file.

Improvement?
Used the product for 5 years.
This year took twice as long to file 2 instead of 4 simpler returns.
User unfriendly and difficult to navigate.
Interface has changed for the worse.
Cd is obsolete - provide a code and download from a host site - one has to logon for updates in any event.

Error in programing!!!
When doing the tax profile I included a tax form that when filling out the taxes I was not able to input that income. Overriding it made the netfile option void. if you have income and you select a form you should be able to input it so that your taxes are done correctly.

Turbo Tax - No MAC Support
I am very happy with TurboTax, but I was not able to get it to work on my MAC. That meant I had to resort to either running it on the Web or on an XP system ... neither of which is a good solution, If this doesn't change for 2015 will have to try something else
