not too sure
had difficulty with my husbands and my return. I didn't understand certain sections I had to fill out and couldn't find answers for. I didn't feel I was 100 percent accurate with our return and dread I will be audited because of it. It is well suited for straight forward returns but other than that, I would go to an accountant....

Marjs TROUBLES
On the whole few problems , except during printing of the spouse return, a update was required. NO HINT AS WHERE TO FIND IT , execpt in one place. We spent an entire day looking for it, searching the program hints and the WEB. Finally finding it and downloading. The download would not work untill the TURBOtax was shut down this detail was also omited.
We also missed the running totals and set-ups provided by a bar graph on the side.
Overall a less satifiying product then last year.

Serious decline in quality
Confusing layout and organization compounded at every level, this year's edition is a serious disappointment. One thing you could always rely on with previous versions was that the results, no matter how hard to get, were reliable, but even that benefit has been compromised with the 2014 tax year edition. I had to manually complete the relevant schedules to optimize my donation and medical deductions, and the help file just made the mess more opaque. I finally found out that the deduction that I entered 3 times was not appearing on the right schedule, forcing me to enter it manually, saving me $100 the built-in 'optimizer' would have lost.
Disappointed in extreme. After more than 5 years with this product I am definately moving to something else next year.

more trouble than ever
This year the program was very user unfriendly. Could not use the web file feature and it was necessary to paper file with all the extra work involved. There was no way to see if anything was going on. After an hour there was no confirmation.

necessary
with more people buying MAC's I am astonished that you have not got it together for the public to buy Turbo Tax for MAC and they have to go to YOUR WEB in order to file or use another program to use TT on a MAC.

accurate but awkward navigating
Works fine if you can start and finish in one session but poor navigation when needed to make changes on the fly, wording could be a little less confusing by times. I feel that return was accurate just getting there was a bit painful.

what have they done to my taxfile
used Turbo Tax for at least 4 years. seemed to flow well.
This year not so! No confirmation that file has been received by government. I have paid the bank within the 5 days suggested. Indicates that netfile no longer necessary as Intuit forward file direct. But I feel uneasy that I have no confirmation that my file has been received.

I was extremely annoyed that I was not able to use netfile. Because I had income from "other sources" turbo-tax deemed me self-employed and because I am NOT, nor do I have my own business I was not able to include required information, and therefore not able to "fix" the errors or file. Wasted a great deal of time and had to mail my return in.
Will not purchase this product next year.

Northern Residents Deductions
Second year in a row that have problems with the northern residents deductions form. Both spouses live in a prescribed area and both have travel expenses on T4 (box32). If one person claims both basic and additional and their travel expenses then when the other person indicates they also live in prescribed area so that they can claim their travel expense it also puts in the days for basic deduction. Then you have to override it and then the program will not let you net file. Also because both are being done together if a person does not notice that one person might have the basic deduction and the other person would have both basic and additional deduction - the program will not pick up on the error.

Not happy with 2014 Turbo Tax Basic
I have used Turbo Tax since 2009 and I have to say I'm not happy with 2014 version. I don't find it as user friendly and I found it hard to navigate. I hated it so much I may change next year.

Good Tax Software, Poor Platform
The tax portion of the software is set up well and is easy to understand. Sadly, the Internet Explorer 8 platform does not run well with Windows Vista and all of the data entry boxes were cut off. You couldn't see what you entered until you finished and looked through the review page. Unless this is fixed, I would not recommend buying this product in the future.

Poor Compatibility
While the taxation portion is first rate, the software portion is one of the poorest I've ever used. Requring Internet Explorer 8 to run the software is ridiculous. Most people use Mozilla or Google Chrome now. IE8 will not run on a Windows Vista platform and running an older version of IE or running your computer in Windows XP mode cuts the data entry boxes off so you can't see the numbers you enter. Its a shame they try to run a Cadillac software on a Volkswagon platform. If they don't improve this for 2015 tax year, I will look to other software.

Hard to read
Horrible user interface in Easy Syep -- light blue on bright background is for all intent invisible -- small or very small fonts are used everywhere. Help content is readable but I never did fine what I searched for

NEWER FORMAT
I found the up-dates were a real problem with saved data. The up-date did not recognize the correct file often and caused real issues. It was also much more difficult to ensure proper saving of files.
All-in-all considerably less user friendly than the previous years. I have been using this for many years and only am considering seeking alternatives for next year due to the issues experienced this year.

difficult
The printer stops printing after 3 pages -it is not my printer because it prints other multiple pages - when I try to print the other pages that were not printed, it does not allow that option. It is very frustrating because it will print 1 to 7 and then will not print others that need to be submitted.

Lots of Work Again
Previous products automatically transferred over information like names, SIN, telephone numbers, etc...not this year. Needed to re enter all that information for me, my spouse and others that I do forms for on this program. What a huge time waster this year. And by making one mistake and clicking the wrong button, I needed to become a computer expert in order to override my mistake. Good thing I could figure it out but I couldn't imagine what a non computer person who tries this for the first time would do.

Poor Help files.
I am a long time user of Intuit software including tax software. The help files were useless regarding Designated Transfer to RRSP after retiring. CRA phone help was more helpful then Turbo Tax. Errors in Turbo Tax prevented my wife from filing her return for two weeks. The error involved transferring pension to a spouse. Nothing in Turbo Tax alerted us to this problem but the live community. Perhaps Turbo Tax could have posted something so that a search would have shown the error.

Losing faith in TurboTax
Survey appeared before I completed the process.
Process is not intuitive. Somewhere it should tell the customer that the tools on the toolbar are actually the steps to go through. It should also let you know in the Print process that if you choose not to mail in your taxes that you should complete the Netfile step.
Tried to print a page when I was in the middle of a step ... it did not let me.
I'm finding this software is becoming less intuitive or helpful than it was. Jury is out on whether I will use again next year or move to a different tax return product.

Ease of use
Explanation is not specific and detailed. Sometimes the explanation does not make any sense. It is written for those who understand fully taxation, but for novice or those who are not technically conversant with taxation, the explanation does not explain at all. The easy steps are not really easy to understand. It is not helpful at all.

good but not as good as it could be
This is the fourth year I have used TurboTax and may be the last if improvements are not made. Firstly there are cheaper products available and ccording to my friends they are jst as comprehensive for less money. Secondly this is the first year that I needed to download microsoft's Internet Explorer in order to run TurboTax, previous years my existing browser was sufficient, this was not mentioned on the box, only when you started the download from their CD. Thirdly, the medical expenses and charitable donation optimizers are so difficult to use they are useless, there is no step by step process which they use so well in all other partsof their package. This has led me to have serious discussions with frends who use other tax filing software to identify a better product for a better price

Errored Out and Wouldn't Let Me File
It indicated that I had an override, but the override search field was not enabled, and it wouldn't let me file my Netfile due to this error.
The "clear overrides" button was not functional, even though I pressed it multiple times.
If this happens to you, prepare to re-enter all your information again to fix it.
Waste of time, but it worked in the end.

Impossible to file
No idea how to file the return; only options given are print and mail or 'done with filing'. Most unsatisfactory. So-called help info is useless as none of the scenarios presented can be found.

Self Employment Needs Fixing
I had a T4A to claim and it kept going to self employment which would not allow me to netfile. Fix it as the customer pays for this product.
