not easy to navigate
I found the easy format which I chose to use was not as easy to use. I kept on having to go back and forth to make sure I added the correct information. The software didn't prompt me that I had other income to add or deductions to add which I had checked off at the beginning that I did have to add.

Too Much Information
I found TurboTax's interview too complex. I was expecting after entering all the information required, TurboTax would do the rest. Not so. I felt it asked questions about me I have already given it. Some questions were very confusing, such as "Do you not want to do this?". How do you answer that! I had to read and re-read the questions 5 times before I could make a good guess. By now you can tell I am not an accountant. I think I will try a different Tax software next year.

Finishing program is a mess
So, I saved a PDF copy of my taxes, as I've done in previous years. This year that PDF copy said `FILE COPY Do Not Submit'. So a double-side printed tax submittal of 23 pages became 46 pages. OK, I clicked on the "print" icon, printed 46 pages and guess what? They all say `FILE COPY Do Not Submit'!!!!! HOW do I print a copy of my tax form????!!

Looking for alternative Tax SW
It seems Turbo Tax is getting buggy each year.
Or their quality team went on long holidays.
Been trying to edit my return but kept on coming back that I cannot use netfile due to some overridden values. The Fix-it button and Remove overridden menus is useless.
Have to redo from scratch to get it working.
Also, I paid for this software. Stop putting ads about audit defense or will unless you are giving it for free.
You can put these ads if I got your software free from an app store!

usually pretty accurate but not this year...
I have used TurboTax for quite a few years now to complete the taxes of most of my family members. For the most part our taxes are pretty straight forward and so do not take too long to complete using TurboTax. Usually all has gone smoothly but this year after filing and paying my taxes due when I received my notice of assessment I ended up owing hundreds
of dollars more...When I reviewed the information with revenue Canada we noticed that TurboTax had entered the wrong information on one line which created an error and so I ended up owing much more then they
originally calculated. So, that was very disconcerting and now I know that I must double check all information and not assume that the program is going to reenter my numbers the same way or in the right place. Which in the end does not leave me as confident in the product as I use to be or would like to be.

Turbo Tax
I find it very hard to use every year. It saves you money but not time. I spend extra time trying to figure out errors and why it won't let you file. I had to send the return by mail. If you are not a computer genious YOU WILL have trouble fileing.

Made a simple tax return overly complicated
TT complicated my return and would not let me file the same electronically. I now have to print and mail the same. What a waste of time and money!
Will never use this software again.

Bad PDF files
Program is easy to use and gives good guidance however, after completing and saving files as PDFs as suggested.....the PDFs print out all skrunched (technical word) up!.....and not useable......and printing from file prints out rediculously small 1/4 page and can barely read it. I will give this program another try next year because it has worked well in the past.....however if it has the same issues....it will be the last time for me!

Too simple or too confusing
As an accountant working in public practice this was my first time using turbo tax to help out a family member. The interview process seemed easy enough but was too simplistic. When I tried to go into the individual tax forms the interface was non-intuitive. In the forms mode there should be an easily accessibile list without dropping into a search menu. The interview mode should be more accessible to navigate if you have to go back and add or change things.
Overall the product is acceptable if you understand nothing about tax, however you could potentially miss certain credits if you are unsure as to your eligibility.

Too Many Ads
Too many ads. If there is going to be so many ads, the product should be free or at the very least half the price it currently retails for. I also felt I had to click through too many windows when I wanted to return to a particular screen - the flag feature could be better explained or featured.

Awful

Most difficult at the end
With errors, warnings the soft ware wants input that doesn't match the info slips. So incorrect info is given just to net file.
Once net file is complete, software gives the impression that filing is still to be done

Guide ME Thru the maze of easy-step questions!
A few years ago, you went from poor to slightly better with the interview and guidance, I was hopeful.
Now, 3 or 4 years on, you have not reached an acceptable level of confusion avoidance.
- The help info on any topic or line provides closed to zero guidance or useful explanation
- Through the pages of "easy-step" questions at every step, I have no idea how to answer the questions, TT provides no Guidance on 95% of them (besides the sparse "Guide Me" icons once every 100 pages, yet answering all these questions and understanding if they apply to you is crucial for TT to use the right forms.
You really NEED to step up your game as tax filing gets more and more confusing, on the pages where you list 15 cryptic questions and "click all that apply to me, you need GUIDE ME on every single one of those questions.
I have worked in finance, and I am comfortable with numbers, and I pull my hair out every year, so I cannot imagine what someone with no understanding of these accounting and the poorly formulated language of the easy-step questions does...
Unless you can hire more tax professionals to give real world added-value explanations and interpretations of all these questions, we might as well hire an accountant because 9 times out of 10, repeating the information in the official tax guides is of little or no use the layman.
accountants will usually tell you "NO, that's not what that means, and they you realize you have to know the ins and outs of what tax accountant standard approach is to all these things.
If you do not understand the questions in TT, how can you be sure you are doing it right.
PROVIDE MORE GUIDANCE, ALSO ON QC QUESTIONS SO WE CAN FIGURE OUT WHAT THEY MEAN IN THE REAL WORLD

After trying to enter data for 30 min finally figured out that a decimal spot is now a comma. The word frustrated does not come close to how I feel this program made me. After doing 2 returns I gave up and bought another program.

Too many advertisments now!
With this many ads you'd think this was a free product! Why am I paying for the software if you are putting so many ads on it? Very frustrated, I've purchased this for MANY years but might be time to change next year. I have recommended this many times in the past but not anymore!

It is becoming a sales program for other products
This tax program does the job of generating a Canadian tax return. But it is nothing special
The entry process for T slips, receipts, etc could be streamlined to make the task less repetitive by carrying for information like MS Excel does.
The program has limitation for entries in Sch 3 which should be expanded, this has been a limitation for years. This should be fixed.
The program had too many popup trying to sell you stuff you DON'T WANT. You paid for the program it should not contain advertising.
The easy step process can be a bit confusing with its review questions, Should show examples and provide better explanations.

Confusing
I found that upon review, it was asking me to fix or enter data we were not eligible for or had already corrected, leaving me confused and frustrated. Too many forms, etc. to manage through. Should be easier for basic filing.

The program is slow and cumbersome. You should be able to tweak numbers and push a re calculate button instead of having to proceed through what's left of the program. Especially for shared return with a spouse.

Whats wrong with it.
There should be a plain language executive summary of what one will be doing using the program. What happened to the easy switch between two people that used to be on the bottom of the program?

use many times - disappointed this time
The program after so many years is quite refined. I did waste about three hours getting it patched properly as each time I installed the patch it crashed, the program would uninstall and I would retry until I gave up and contacted support. Their support was adequate but I would have to conclude their programming team is incompetent. I am sick and tired of BETA testing for companies like Intuit because they can't seem to get things right during roll-out. Since they do this every year with pretty much the same program I was extremely disappointed....

Gets worse every year
I've been doing taxes for 40 years and have used this software for the last 10. Each year becomes more and more frustrating. Especially trying to claim medical expenses. The software forces all medical expenses to be claimed by only one spouse. This results in more money owing. Seriously...next year I'm going back to pencil and paper. You can keep your software.

Software design has come a long way in the last ten years. This software hasn't. The EasyStep feature is anything but - it railroads you down the path without doing anything significant to suggest tax saving opportunities both for the current return, or much more valuably, your NEXT return. By in large, many of the tax savings available require significant planning, and where this software fails entirely is in suggesting opportunities for future tax planning. It could also benefit from a total UI revamp; the software still looks like it did 10 years ago and it is clear that Intuit is content to produce a marginal product year after year without meaningful improvement.
