Overcharging for extra returns
You charge way to much to purchase extra returns. I paid more for 3 extra returns than I did for the initial purchase. I will be trying the free online tax preparation software with Revenue Canada next year.

Not very impressed
This is the first time I used a tax program with the intention of netfiling. I had to install, reinstall 3 times. I go through my taxes almost to the end and all of a sudden the program closed. Not only did it not save it anywhere I could not reopen it. I had to uninstall, reinstall and restart my computer everytime I wanted to open a file again. It would not allow me to install the updates-said I had to reinstall again-I did not do this. I get to the end and find that I cannot netfile for some reason and am now killing a tree for two returns to get mailed in which is what I wanted to avoid in the first place. Would I ever like to get my money back. It took me more time to use this program than doing it myself on paper and I used less paper doing it myself as well. So much for technology

Horrible Glitches!!
My husbang is self employed; I work for a company. This program will not let me Net File my federal return because if thinks I have not entered Box 14 of my T4 when very clearly , I have and it shows clearly in the Forms section AND on the return.
I had no problem filing the Quebec return.
I now have to mail my Federal return. Thank you Turbo Tax!!

Relaunching Turbotax
It is unfortunate that every time I needed to relaunch Turbo Tax 2012 I couldn't. I constantly had to reinstall the program and remove my firewalls and other security items of my computer to be able to do so. I don't understand how in this day and age a program will not allow a computer's security to disallow it from launching, yet leaving the computer open to viruses and other potential issues. I am very disappointed with TurboTax 2012 as it really slowed down my work for the first time in over 10 years that I have been using QuickTax and TUrbo Tax. I hope it will be different next year, or I may consider purchasing another product in the future.

slow and clunky
this used to be a great product. but instead of rewriting code they appear to be merely adding to it. Makes the software incredibily slow and clunky. Numerous attempts to upsell, distracting online social network sidebars all contribute to a very much degraded experience this year. I have noted the relative decline in the product over the decade I have been using it but this is the worst year ever.
Folks, invest in updating the code so that this product runs better by next year or I will be looking at alternatives.

not reliable
It has become very complicated to use turbo tax and because of glitches, has been quite an ordeal to file my taxes. I will going to tax accountants in the future.

easy step - too many non value steps
The easy step has to many things to fill in and it seems like you are being asked the same questions over and over again. It should be designed like a spread sheet where you only have to fill the information once.

My time to do a paper/pencil return used to be 3-4 days & it always drove me nuts. In 2007, with TurboTax, it took 3-4 hours. That was GREAT! No problems since then - until this year. this year, my guess is because of aging (I'm 85), my brain did not function as well as it has in the past. However, because of the quality of the software, and my confidence in it through past experience, I was able to complete the process and send the reuturns off via Netfile/. This year it took me 5-6 hours.

Things are poorly explained in some areas. I cannot print to my Xerox Work Centre. The program demands A4 paper instead of normal letter size. I finally stored a PDF version and printed from it.

Frustrated
Turbo Tax Easy step is not adding value:
• It picks up only minimal information from previous years:
o Why can't it remember my real-estate in complete detail, i.e., joint ownership %'s
o should caution me if I miss a deduction or even an income claimed in a previous year. Some times it might be warranted to say ... "last year you claimed xyz do you want to do the same?"
o You already know how old my children are why do you ask if I want to claim a child tax credit... just do it... maybe seek confirmation if there is some question as to which spouce to put it under but recommend the best solution up front.
o The interview is long and frustrating... it is like doing my income tax twice. Perhaps the simple questions would be did anything change from last year?
o GST rebate, Working income tax benefit ... really every year you ask, every year I say yes, every year CRA says no... Can't the software tell me if I qualify. Sure let me overide if I want to be stubborn about it but again make recommendations.
o Why do you ask for the following under review when you calculated it earlier in the process:
Rental and leasing property
CCA and carrying charges claimed on rental and leasing property
Net income from rental and leasing property before CCA and related carrying charges
Revenue Canada has no issue with US address on Rental Properties, why do you.

Worst purchase ever
I found this year's version of the Tax return much harder to use than prior years!!! Why don't you in clude a function to return to a previous page . This version was not nearly as easy to use by a senior citizen as prior years, nor do I believe that it would be easy for first time users. I can't remember your predeccors name, but it was far easier to use than your product!!!

Not all users use IE. It will not allow for other browsers. This year I found it harder to use and

Not intuitive at all
So many simple features would make this program soooo much easier to use. No back button is maddenning.
I'm a very experienced software user and have submitted many returns in the past, and the paper copiers sure seemed a lot easier!

I file a U.S. tax return as well as Canadian and use U.S. Turbo Tax and it is 100% better than the Canadian version. The Canadian version asks you to check off things without explaining what it is you are checking or if it even applies to your situation. On the U.S. version, just answer the question you are asked and it basically does eveything for you. To netfile the U.S form it is one click. I gave up on netfiling the Canadian. It is a nightmare. Your software writers should get together with your counterparts in the States.

Not as good as it was before
Program does not prompt you to fill in deductions as indicated. The only reason I knew to add them in the forms is that I used the same type of deductions last year. I used easy step and it was far from easy. Not confident with your product have been using it for years and next year I will try something else.

PLEASE redo the Medical worksheet entry system! Can you do it so people know what the 3% of their income is BEFORE they go through the tedious process of entrying in all the data!!! As well, it would be useful if the entry system is easier to use (ie have a default name entered automatically until the name is changed by a manual entry... it is silly to have to enter the same information in again and again line by line. As well, the rigidity of the date system you use is a pain.

not user friendly
couldn't find the blue arrow to go back "just one page" when i wanted to; had to start over.
also, Would have preferred ability to enter all my own info and figures and THEN enter all of my spouses stuff rather than flipping back and forth doing them together.
