Why I won't use Turbo Tax anymore
I have been using Turbo Tax for about 5 years now, and unless you have an understanding about the tax system in your province, you are better paying someone else to do your taxes. I have just figured out why there has been so much trouble getting my refunds as I have sent them. There is alot of double entries that happen with turbo tax that you really don't see. I will not purchase Turbo Tax again

It asks for spouses income in each of the spouses forms.
My father has died and instead just asking for the status and do the right forms and assignments makes the return so painful and difficult. Data cannot be trasfered at once and be put simply on the right place!

one big problem
At my first input I had my daughter's unused tuition deduction transferred to my filing. Then Turbo Tax warned me that it did no good for me to do that, since I did not have any tax payable. Turbo Tax continued to transfer the unused tuition to me, even after I had repeatedly changed both my filing and my daughter's filing. Finally, I had to start my daughter's filing from the beginning, as if it was a new filing, and over write the original daughter's filing with the brand new filing. It took me a long time to figure out that I had to do this. Very frustrating.

Poor Product?
I buy this every year, but for some reason it does not want to work properly on Windows 8
it has crashed numerous times as I tried to save specific forms
NOT WHAT I EXPECTED FROM TURBO TAX!!

No remittance Form
Seeing the screen was incredibly difficult and I won't buy the program as the text was too small to read. There were no buttons to enlarge the text and using your text adjustments ont he computer did not work. There was also no form to submitt a remittance if you have a ballance owing. Not everyone submitts bank information electronically some of us old folks like to go to the bank with a form and make the payment. It would have been beneficial to print the form for my records and make the payment.

Problems Starting the Program
I had a lot of issues this year using Turbio Tax. The CD would not start up automatically. I had to contact the support line and have them download a new program. This took quite some time. After preparing and submiting several tax retruns during the week, the system would not start up again after clicking on the icon. I wasted several hours trying to get the system up and running again, so that I could complete my last return. I'm not happy!!

Was better last year
The Turbo Tax service was better in the previous tax year for 2011. I purchased the same product Turbo tax standard both years, the prior year cost the same amount of money, but this year you charge extra for live advice - a service that was free last year.

Got a Lemon
Don't know how many times I've had to insert the disc and a simple return took me as long as it would if I'd had done the return the old fashioned, written way.

Date format
Ok...this is a minor complaint, but I really hate how TurboTax formats their dates. The Canadian format is YYYY/MM/DD and even when you enter your birthdate on Netfile they use this format. It can get confusing when you are used to one way and TurboTax uses DD/MM/YYYY all the time.
Also, I miss QuickTax. TurboTax is a dumb name

disappointed with PDF watermark
I have used TurboTax & QuickTax before that for many many years. I am very disappointed that now when I "save to PDF" the result ends up with a "File Copy - do not submit" watermark. I do not want to have to see this watermark when reviewing past tax returns. This is very much an undesireable result.

Flakey software
Installed on a Vista system. Had to reinstall several times... each time was a different experience. Screen icon would not trigger a load of the system. This was consistent. I had to remove the software from the system and reload it to get access to it each time. This software is flakey

GST and Trillium payment schedule missing
For many people such as seniors and students, they no longer get a refund, but scheduled payments monthly starting July or quarterly payments also starting July.
I was surprise that I had to use the review process tp see the payment schedules, but I was even more surprised that I could not print out the schedules.
This was not well thought out.

Too many sales attempts
throughout the program there are various attempts to get the user to upgrade, buy audit insurance, etc.
It gets very irritating to see after one has turned it down

Shouldn't be this confusing
Why once you set up from 2011 does the set up page continue to load?
Why two different print screens........
Very disappointed from other years, will think twice about buying Turbo Tax next year after buying for the last three years

Not the best
I found this particular program difficult to navigate. When I needed to make changes I could not find it quickly. I had to keep pressing continue until I found what it was that I was looking for. If I tried the Icon to take me directly to where I wanted to go I could never find the exact thing I was looking for. I do not find this program user friendly. I have used others that are way more simplified with more helps that I did not have to pay extra for.

QUADRUPLE CHECK YOUR ADDRESS!!!
Although Turbo Tax used my prior tax information for their new “Netfile”, this STUPID program would not create the “*.TAX” file necessary to file? I fought with this for over 2 hours…… THE SOLUTION!!!! Regardless that my city has quadrants (i.e. South West usually being “S.W.” on my address label) the PERIOD at the end of this line, although it was brought forward from my previous tax year using the same software (obviously a year earlier version) this stupid program WOULD NOT CREATE THE TAX FILE REQUIRED!!!! I took the space out of my Costal Pode – nope… Retyped EVERY line of my address individually and discovered this MESS! Terrible programming by Intuit. This is gonna create a storm of people trying to E-File and finding this!
Stop trying to sell me more software I do not want. FIX THIS!!!

Pension Splitting not working well
I had a lot of difficulties with the pension splitting optimizer. For some reason, the splitting amounts do not coincide between Fed and Pro returns (Quebec). As an example the Federal splitting amount was more than $12K but the provincial amount suggested was $0....! I will try another tax software to see if these are the amounts are the optimum amount, I am suspicious...!

Harder to use than past years
Used to be so simple when it was home tax then quick tax. Seems harder to follow now that is is turbo tax. Instructions are not always clear. Help box does not clearly clarify questions.

It is a good program for indivisual tax returns,

Convoluted
I've used this program for over 5 years and this year's version seems more convoluted and confusing than previous versions. What happened to the simplicity in working with the forms? Questions are more "wordy" and this year's version seems to have glitches... after correcting an issue you get the same message (doesn't update), or switching between spouses returns not as easy. Take a look at the simplicity of the past 3 years and stop changing what worked well with those versions.

Confusing - For spouse of deceased
I have used turbotax for years when both my wife and I were living, but since my wife passed away in 2012, I have found this version frustrating and confusing. For example, on the first page of the form, second column, it asks if this return is for a deceased person, and asks the date of death. Then completely ignoring this answer, it asks for the Province or territory where this person now resides. I entered the word "heaven" for the answer to this question and apparently, turbotax did not consider this a valid answer. Sorry, but I think this form needs some major revisions!!!!

Declining Quality
Compared to last year really bad software. It can't seem to consistently remember where it left off. Keeps returning to forms once you looked at one and when you do make it back to easy step wants to start all over. Randomly moves to other sections. Asks for choices before getting to the sections on eligibility, etc, etc

I always liked Turbo Tax previously, but the explanation of Business Incorporated was extremely not helpful, since it was the equivalent of filling the forms online.
Standard had a problem filing and needed to be updated, I was not satisfied wit the 2012 experience. Although I loved it in 2009-2011
