not likly to use again after 5+ years
after using quick tax for 4 years and then turbo tax for the last two this years turbo tax was very disapointing this year. it was much more dificult to follow and i had to hunt for my child credit entries. it said not to worry it would help later but it just passed them right buy.

poor experience
Could not get this software to work once installed and no help within the program for troubleshooting.
I was able to solve it for myself.
Some troubleshooting advice
1. Understand that this program is dependant on your default browser settings.(in Windows, Internet Explorer)
If your using Windows and find yourself using the Firefox browser makes no difference.
In my case I had IE8 set to a high security settings, preventing or blocking images.
The HOSTS file was altered and if you use a registry cleaner some IE8 files were removed.
2. If buttons or tabs do not appear or are greyed out on the programs main page, you will have to reset your Windows default browser back to factory settings.
Microsoft has a fix to help reset or repair IE8 and IE9.
3. Notify users of the UserID changes for curent and past tax years in the main page and what to do if required.
The changes to restore IE8 worked great, all buttons and tabs were restored.

Worst year ever
I've used this product for a number of years and this is the first year that I have complaints.
a) A minor complaint - some sections were more difficult to use and navigate
b) A MAJOR complaint - I had to create three returns to get one with the correct figures. On two occasions, the **wrong** amount was transferred from the slip into the general form and I could not change it. I confirmed that the amount was entered correctly and even changed it a few times to see if it would change on the general form - no override is available! On the 3rd return, the amount finally displayed correctly.

first time user
As a first time user, I found this time consuming but I persevered and actually was pleased when I was able to submit. I guess the results will be the telling.

buggy & advertisment
Turbo tax have too much self-advertisement.
The easystep is too annoying to follow, some fields are hidden in easy step and does not make it too easy...
Bug: app won't response until I start with admin access (under windows 7)

File closed without saving
TurboTax closed without saving after all information had been entered and a review had been done (but not printed).
On re-opening a day later, the file was blank and all information had to be re-entered. Most annoying.

Turbo Tax not Friendly to use
1. It does not allow import stock transactions from Quicken Canada 2010
2. Taxlink is referred to in the help, but nowhere to be found in the menus
3. It does not auto calculate the dividend tax credit and gross up
4. It's too expensive when there are other better software out there

to stuck on steps
I found to get it all done I had to repeat several steps and it was not easy to start it save it and get back to where you were. Why do you not have a option for people who can think for thwemselves. It was a frustrating bad experience and I have have been using tax software for as long as they existed and this was the worst!

Not as good a program as last years
I don't like the fact that the program doesn't automatically choose the best tax options for maximum return. I found it was very tedious to keep going back and trying the different options. I also found the program difficult to go back and access an area without starting at the beginning, example, deductions. I couldn't go just to medical expenses, I had to go through charitable deductions first. It took me much longer than last year. I need something faster and easier!!!

Very Confusing
Turbo Tax is extremely confusing. Used to use another tax program two years ago and for many years earlier and it was so simple. Turbo Tax seems to jump all over and doesnt explain things clearly. It was frustrating getting through it but I finally did. Not impressed with the program

As a long time user of QuickTax and later Turbotax, I am very disappointed as to how the software has evolved. It used to be simple and efficient. It has become more complex and unncessarily wastes my time. The easey step is no longer easy because questions you answer at the onset affect what screens and forms you can access later on. Simply going back to add a security box expense took about 20 minutes to find the correct location within the program to add the info. As it turned out, I had to go directly to the forms as I could not find a step in the easy process to complete.
In future versions, kindly place a higher emphasis on efficiency.

Seemed to be more issues this year than in previous years. There were many warnings/errors about items I had selected or applied. These never happened in the past but this year there were a bunch there. Looks like some settings or default values are missing or wrong as a default.

Unexplained blips
The return will show medical expenses where none exist and inflate line 260 income for purposes of determining tuition expenses for no discernable reason.

could be better
1. i found the process of moving from screen to screen awkward,
2. the layout onscreen is distracting and i would want a way to close the split window and not have all the verbage on the right of the page.
3. i finished a return and had not entered ANY deductions in error, ie. tax, basic personal amount, etc. and there was no error msg or tax tip hint suggested!

not enough info
I find that Turbo Tax does not supply enogh info and it is difficult to try to find enough info on issues or queries that are not just the basics When I do my taxes by hand the guidlines book gives me all the info I need--this is what should be included in Turbo Tax

First time in 10 years I had problems
This is the first time I have ever experienced problems with your software. I have been a user since the early 2000s. This year, the software hung up on me several times. I suspect that the program has become bloated and therefore my old dual core system using 2 gigs of ram may not be sufficient to run it smoothly. It also seemed to have left lots of stuff in memory so had to constantly reboot to clear my memory.

I have used Quick Tax and now Turbo tax for a number of years without incident. I'm not sure what the issue was this year, but there was no way to work on my computer. I'm in IT and can guarantee the updated, non-virussed nature of my personal computer.
Tech support via email was excellent next-day service, and I ended up getting it loaded properly on an old laptop running XP. Even though that pains me, I will likely purchase turbotax year and hope for the best

Will Probably never buy again
For whatever reason, this years version was extremely hard to use. I have used several in the past, and this one was the worst. It was hard to navagate, and when I was looking for specific information (ie RRSP`s) I couldn`t find it. I will probably take my chances next year and just send in my slips to the government before using this product again. Talk about disappointing.

There were some glitchs in the 2010 software that appear to have been fixed (difficulty in reporting social security income etc.) , however there are still some problems.
1. attempting to enter a date such as 10/28/2011 produced 10/ 02/820 every time. This caused errors in the return which were difficult to find and correct.
2. your explanation of how to file using net file needs work to make it easier for people who are not as practised producing files as many, especially older people. This needs to be improved.
