Form Overload
In Easy Step mode, despite answering "no" to interview questions, the software loads forms that are not required. Consequently when saving and printing, despite saying "yes" to closing forms that are not required, these forms are printed regardless, Examples. Statement of Employment Expenses, Other Employment Expenses and Principle Residence Worksheet, etc, Creates clutter and frustration. Waste paper.
Filed jointly..when printing spouses return it printed mine. Hoping on Netfile it filed the returns independently or will have more headaches with CRA. Brutal!!!
Have always used Turbotax in prior years. Will have to think twice next year.

Waste of time
I have been a dedicated TurboTax user for many years. For 2017, the company decided to do something to the CD software that makes it so that you cannot save a clean copy of your tax return as a PDF to print from a different computer. It used to be that you could save TWO different PDFs: one for your personal records (that has a "Do Not File" watermark embedded in it) and one for mailing to the Canada Revenue Agency (without a watermark). The latter option is now gone for some reason. I phoned the TurboTax Help Line twice for assistance and both agents were useless - the first put me on hold for 15 mins and never came back on the line; the second emailed me instructions with screen caps that did not match the software version I was using (it was clear she was in the USA and had no idea what I was talking about). This has added hours of frustration to what is supposed to be a simplified filing process, by TurboTax's own words. I won't be buying again.

Unsatisfied customer
It's nice and goes very well at the beginning but once you get on the Quebec Income Tax, there's always a bunch of trouble that appears. I try to fix the problems and it never works so I end up sending them by mail. I will not use turbotax next year, I will pay someone to do my Income Tax by hand. I put four people (allowed up to 8) and the same problem occures for everybody. It's back and forth all the time.

Finicky software
I've used Turbo tax for over 10 years and the conditions of my family are pretty much the same. I've used the easy steps format but this year the Easy steps are not so easy. If a warning applied to me, and after making the necessary changes, the systems did not recognized the changes and would allowed me to file the return.
The warning was general and did not point out what information was missing.
Had to consult to my friend who is an accountant which defeats the purpose of getting the software.
I've used the software for many years and was happy with it until this year.

Rent entry stonewalls filing
Been using turbo tax over 10 years.
Entering the rental cost through easy step or form method (in the dialogue box) does not transfer the rental amounts to the provincial line 6110. This causes an ERROR which will not allow me to Netfile.

Awful
Terrible. Together with CRA requirements, which are an invitation to duplication, brokers' lack of upfront, necessary information and most difficult program to follow and use. Probably the most difficult I've ever used. You're not getting better with age
FYI: I was a tax auditor and have used computer programs for years, including Turbo Tax(never again).

so frustrating
The script error meant I had to navigate through the so-called 'easy' steps one 'back click' at a time. Intuit's solution? Use the forms mode instead and don't bother with the 'easy step' process for which I bought the stupid program in the first place. Never again.

Too Many Non-Tax related steps for Upselling
At the end of the process when I did not choose to rate the return experience it circled me back to the step to verify my return state.
I expected to arrive at a step that says "FINISHED"

Duplicate printing problem
I want to mail my return into CRA. When selecting Print to Mail to CRA, the documetns comes out with the watermark - duplicate Do Not Send by Mail. No workaround. No response from turboTax.

Worst version ever
Changes this year make the version the worst ever. Drop down menus switch to my second monitor and if the text on the first monitor are enlarged, the drop down menu/page is larger than the screen. Therefore there is only one way to exit... kill the program by going into Task Manager. Also investments that are joint with someone other than one's spouse do not allow for a split. All T Forms must be manually split and entered. Also too much emphasis on upselling rather than putting effort into the software working properly. I am a long time customer and this is my last year using it.

Each year, this software gets harder and harder to use and more confusing. It often sends you in circles looking for answers and spends far too much time trying to upsell to more expensive versions. There must be a better way!!

I have used Turbotax for several years and liked it, but this year's offering was terrible. It kept throwing script errors on almost every screen. It made decisions without explaining why and missed deductions. The CRA interface didn't work and the NETFILE feature was terrible sending me back to incorrect forms to fix. It also kept trying to sell me reviews and other nonsense that I didn't want. All in all a very bad experience. This will be the last year I use it.

Horrible User Experience
The user interface and overall design of TurboTax is really bad. There's an obviously better method to design almost every aspect of this program. It is unnecessarily complicated and unintuitive.

This years edition was not user friendly in any way.

Terribly Buggy Software
Terrible. Every page you get multiple "res://C:\Program Files (x86)\TurboTax 2017\tt2017ir.dll/js/automation.js" script error popups. Obviously they didn't test the software on an up to date Windows 10 computer. I have never seen an official release of a program so terrible. I am a long time user but will look for alternatives next year.

Stay Away From This Program.
This is an overrated, over priced product. It does not live up to its reputation. It suggests that it is easy, but for only simple returns. Otherwise you need to be well versed in the tax processes and law, and just use the forms. It offer no real help screens for the lines or forms, it offers no way to navigate to a specific line number. It doesn't always auto fill from one set of taxes to your spouses. Even there phone in help was extremely limited. My advise is to go find a better product out there, because this one will leave you frustrated.

I have bought TurboTax for over 10 years now and this was the worst version ever. It did not guide me. It did not pull information from last year, like it usually does. I had to set up address, SIN etc. And I still don't know what it has claimed for me and what it has carried forward re: school tuition. I am lost and it is a very simple return. I have never had this issue. Sooooo very disappointed.

Disappointed in 2017 version
Been using Turbo Tax for years. 2017 was a major disappointment over previous years
- Auto update would not work had to use awkward manual updates
- Kept insisting on information that is not required by CRA
- would not print without insertion of CD when I purchased original product on-line

Frustrated
Your software had NO exit path...after the popup to save the file at the end ,you are tossed into an endless loop. As a retired software developer I know poorly tested software when I use it...spend some money on Quality processes....

Worst tax program ever - don't waste your money
You can't even get rid of a stupid watermark after you finish your returns. and the watermark says you CAN'T send it in to CRA. When you call the helpdesk they don't know what to do. YOu can't send by netfile, it doesn't work. THis program is a WASTE of money. Stay away.
