Turbo Tax is not easy to follow. Quick Tax was much better. The program is confusing , there is nowhere to go to get an answer, just too complicated. Next year I will do it by hand or get a new software.

The NetFile portion of the process with TurboTax is very confusing -- I still don't know if my return was actually filed -- and the on-line payment of tax owing, using Plastiq, did not work. I have used other products in the past and found them to work flawlessly, unlike TurboTax. I will not purchase this product again.

I've used TurboTax for many years and really like it - easy to use, complete, fast, roll-forward of prior years is very helpful. I do returns for myself, 2 elderly family members (income < $25K) and 2 elderly family friends (income a bit >$25K). I HATE that I can legally only file my return using Netfile, and must print the other returns out to file by mail. This lack of convenience will be enough to get me to another tax package that will let me file quickly and easily as TurboTax used to. Why has TurboTax eliminated such a wonderful convenience?

I have used Turbo Tax for several years now but, unlike a good wine, it does not appear to improve with time. It seems to become less intuitive and more convoluted with each edition.
After having entered all the information from T-slips and Releves, you are then asked if you want to apply for the GST Credit, the Solidarity Tax Credit, etc. The program should know from the income and other information you have entered whether or not you can apply for these credits.
For medical expenses, charitable donations, capital gains, etc., it would be nice if the program offered you the option to enter these directly into a table, rather than one at a time screen by screen.
In the review section the program offers tax saving tips such as using the pension splitting, charitable donations, and medical expenses optimisers. Doesn't the program know that you have already used these features?
These are just three examples of where the program could be more proactive. There are many more.

used the online version last year and had no problem. this year purchased the Standard package from retail. installed it and 6 hours later I was done. 2 simple returns dogged by getting lost in the program. extra payment help was available, but that is why I didn't want to go to an accountant. once you go off track, you don't automatically go back to where you came from. never again.

Whenever I tried to load the recommened upgrades, an error code occur. I would have to remove the program and reinstall. I could not netfile, therfore have to file manually. I did not have these problems last year.

This year you have a problem in software. The RRSP went into PRSP and the tax department did not recognize it as a deduction. Also I had a hard time with your dates on medical not being from Jan to Dec. It took a while to figure out why the deductions were not being recognized, This is the first year that I have had a problem

Too complicated this year. Not sure what is going on. I have been using turbo Tax before it was Turbo Tax.
I will try some other that is more user friendly I am not sure if both Quebec and Canada was submitted electronically.

This is the 4th year I've used Turbo Tax. There were too many inconsistencies in the deductions section. I had 3 different refund amounts and had to keep reviewing the 2 returns. Next year I am going to use another tax return software.

this product gets worse every year. with each year there are too many additional options to look at, or purchase that is not directly related to filing a simple return. there is too much confusion at the end on how to convert it to a .tax file. I will not be purchasing this product again.

Good enough program but must have experience on how to manually file your tax return so you know where to navigate to, in order to obtain the maximum refund. My biggest complaint is that the narators in the videos speak too quickly and point/click this box and that box much too fast. Not at the end yet so let's see where the next chapter brings me to.

You MUST allow T5013 forms to ignor the request for Industry code. It is NOT necessary for netfiling my particular filer's T5013.

I have used Turbo tax for many years, and never had a year like this year, twice I updated the program, and each time, it resulted in error and had to call help desk twice to resolve the problem, the time I took to resolve the problems is not worth the money I paid. I could have purchased another program with less money and better functionality.

I really disappointed about turbo tax for year 2013. I have found a glitch in this software that almost reduce my refund money. Fortunately I double checked the calculation and corrected manually by inputed in the forms. In guided steps mode, in charitable donation claims, it defaulted the amount into my return, but because I want it to be use for my spouse, so in the next step, I enter the amount that I would like to claim on spouse's tax return as full amount (100%). My assumption was that the donation will automatically appear on my spouse tax return on schedule 9. But in fact it was not calculated my the software. While in my returned is not appeared too (that OK). But the donation amount is still there in the steps mode but did not appear on both retruns (husband and wife) That must be wrong.

I've used this software program for years, and have always loved it. Until this year (used the standard version), each time I tried to update my RRSP and deduction information, the program took me straight to the summary page without allowing me to enter any values. I had to search for a description of what I wanted to enter. I'm not confident that I had the opportunity to enter all of my expenses since I had to search for whatever I could think of that needed to be filed. Won't be using this again, I think they have made it difficult on purpose to upsell the program or to force people into contacting them for support.

Was reassessed on last years and had to make more payments. This year only half the return was printed even after 4 attempts to have it all printed. Frustrated with Turbo this year and last year although my previous years worked fine.

to whom it may concern. no specific tax savings given every time I had to have an update, it deleted all my previous input data. very frustrating. it happened 4 times get rid of your bugs, and advice accordingly to what is allowed by Canada revenue. Thanks WGH

The first time I used the product (then Quick Tax), it was easy-peasy. In recent years (since becoming TurboTax), I've had silly little issues with the software each year.
For example, our medical expesnes are VERY high. So it always benefits us for the higher-income spouse to claim them. But the software always defaults to the lower-income spouse. The optimizer does the same. I have to manually switch it over every time.
As well, this year, the software was forcing the disability amount to be claimed under the lower-income spouse. I was unable to change it using EasyStep. I had to navigate through the forms and manually move that credit over to the higher-income spouse.
All this glitch-fixing added hours to my tax preparation process!
In spite of the fact that TT has all my info to carry forward, I have no intention of purchasing it ever again.
