same old same old
re asking the same questions time and again is confusing. ask once and be done with it. do you want to save, do you want to print. type you have to read the government disclosure in order to file. a little box must click or must read, must complete this step to net file. do it on paper and mail it in its easier, really. this could have been so simple if it had been beta tested....

T4A
When I put my information from my T4A in for my personal spending account it put the information is as business income and wanted information regarding my business????? so I re-entered the information as a T4 so it just shows as income. I have never had problems with Turbo Tax before but this was very frustrating.

past years YES; this year NO
TurboTax 2013 keeps kicking me out of the program. After several tries, I was able to enter the numbers. It does say on the box that it works with Windows XP, and in the past years it had worked just great... Now, I am hoping that I can still Netfile it. Not sure what I'm going to do next year....

unhappy
This version is harder than previous one. It does not provide option for children arts tuition fee. I had trouble to go back to enter this amount. While my spouse earned less than $1,000.00 for the year and she must claim our dependance child ($2,234). Since she paid $92.59 income tax for the entire year. I could not override or change this option. Since I paid over $13,000.00 for income tax.

Poorly designed
1) Somehow I managed to file a return without saving what had been done! How can this software allow you to do something like that? Also when you exit it HAS to tell you to save or not!!
2) Because of that the tax owed was more than 10 times what it was supposed to be! So your routines are very poorly tested! Amateur design, coding and testing!
3) Layout is childish.
Am very disappointed with this!
Now I have to file another tax return rectifying this one!

The Entire process
I've never had such difficulty inputing digits, ridiculous! for example, if I input 2,000.00, I get warning, if I input 2 000.00 I get another warning. I just about lost my mind! It's a good thing that I reverified everything I had a $9,998 return, made absolutely no sense whatsoever. I've used Turbo tax for 5 years, I've never had so many problems using it this year.

Dependants not calcualting
when you have dependants the federal is calculating but not the provincial child tax , newcomers to Canada can't adjust the basic tax amounts if they have been here for 6months or 8 months, so this basic exemption can't be prorated unless you do the tax return by hand

FRUSTRATING AND DISAPOINTING!
EVERYTHING WAS GOING WELL UNTIL I TRIED TO FILE AND THEN WOULDN'T LET ME FILE. kEPT GOING AROUND IN CIRCLES WITHOUT LETTING ME NETFILE. WAS GOING OK UNTIL THE TIME CAME TO PROCESS AND WOULDN'T TAKE ME THERE. BECOMING VERY VERY COMMERCIAL, WOULD LOOK AT GOING THRU A COMMERCIAL TAX COMPANY NEXT TIME. THEY KEEP WANTING YOU TO BUY SOMETHING EXTRA. ANYWAYS SO NIGHT AS WELL PAY FOR SOMEONE ELSE TO DO IT

Turbo Tax 2013
2013 TT was a huge disappointment. It seemed to load OK initially but then after that failed to open almost every time. I had to keep calling to get new activation keys and the online help system was basically useless. It appeared that others were having trouble, but the backup loader file on the site was no better at fixing the problem. This was the first year I was disappointed with the program.

Not quite what I expected
Have used Turbo Tax many times before but this year it was not as helpful as other years. It was VERY hard to make changes and see the changes happen in the easy step mode. Going to forms was a total nightmare, don't even bother if you started in easy step. Not possible to just start over and redo the changes. Doesn't allow you to go and check on your spouses info (like line 101 or 236) without totally leaving and then going back and forth, very time consuming.

TexT too small and bright
I don't know what they did to Turbo Tax but it is just too hard to read and too bright, very hard on my old eyes, I have been using it for years but this is the hardest time I have ever had trying to read and fill in a tax form.
Hope someone provides and update and fixes this problem,
Actually the first time I used it this year it was ok, don't know what was in the update I downloaded this time.

transferring education amounts isn't easy with the steps part it doesn't do it automatically. Gives you a warning at the end that you can fix federal amounts but not provincial, have to go in manually to do it

Optimize is a misnomer
for those who income split, be aware that Turbo Tax software's only apparent goal is to get you a refund, no matter what the cost. don't just blindly accept the suggested optimizer - input data to override that option, input 0, so you can see that option as well before you finish. if I had done that, we would have only had to pay $62 tax, not purchase thousands of dollars in RRSPs to avoid paying tax (but get a refund under one of us), which is what the system considered to be our "optimal" scenario.

Worst Version Yet
I have been using TurboTax [/QuickTax] for many years. I used the Standard 2013 desktop [Windows] version using EasyStep. It is the worst version that I have encountered.
1. Total income is overstated by the amount of pension-income split.
2. Charitable deductions entered under one spouse shows up under the other even after both correcting under EasyStep and Forms.
3. Medical deductions only provides for a single total entry rather than multiple entries. This has to be done under forms. Also, fields are not prefilled [from previous entries] based on keystrokes. Finally, the same problem as charitable deductions.
4. The Review Section continually suggests to consider changing spouses for various deductions even against the advice of respective optimizer. Also, if you pursue the suggestion, it does not take one to an optimizer but rather only displays rules.
5. Similarly, the Review Section indicates that I have pension income to split [even though I have already done this]. If one pursues this, it takes you through the process again instead of bringing up the optimizer.
6. Not sure why the default is "yes" under the Working Income Tax Benefit page when my spouse only has pension income.
7. As I work through the Review process, it shows that my spouse has a refund and that I owe. It wants to know how I will paid this amount, which I did not. I am not sure whether it will affect net filing my spouse's return immediately while holding my return to the end of April. It has been a long, confusing and frustrating day so I will leave trial and error of this for another day.
In conclusion, and in my opinion, this version is not worth the selling price. Hopefully management will read these comments and make changes. Otherwise it is time to start evaluating other products.

Most of the 2013 tax software package works well - until you attempt to print the return by clicking on the print and file tab - which does not lead to steps which allow printing of the return - for personal records or for Revenue Canada. Considerable time is spent going back to earlier tabs, then working through to the print section. Why was this not cleaned up before the software was sold? I am now thankful that a competitor to Turbo Tax has an alternate choice on the market
