import info from previous year
In previous years, there was automatic import of previous year's data (say 2023) into the current year (say 2024) tax preparation using the standard version of this product. This feature appears to have been eliminated from this year (2024) version

Some confusion
TT worked very well again, and I really like the easy fill method. However, it and I were hampered by the CRA failure to upload all T slips this year. This created some confusion for me. Also, at the end, there was a glitch in TT and when I tried to print of copy of my ITR and my wife's ITR - it did not print mine but just my wife's twice. I tried several times but it kept doing the same thing. I used TT to submit our returns online with Netfile, but I wasn't confident that it submitted mine - rather than my wife's twice. Confusing, but I'll stick with it next year.

Decent Program
Have been using for years, a few glitches here and there, but overall a good buy.
Printing copies for records wasn't great as the program did not want to switch between returns, even though the new return was checked and showed as being the current one

It really is good software and it just works. There are some petty annoyances particularly with downloading the software. But on par it is good software and it just works. I've been using it for years and will continue to use it.

Pretty good, but fix downloads from CRA!
You now have an option to not import T5008 when downloading from CRA but they're still there! I submit a summary of the transactions provided by my broker which accounts for the currency exchange on USD. The T5008s are still there and I have to delete them manually. Also, some of my T5's are in USD, I'm afraid to import them because TurboTax doesn't do currency conversions at all.

Review carefully
During the initial interview designed to setup the return kit, I was not asked if there are any disabilities. I do have a disability form on file with CRA. On my first filing I total missed that credit since it never came up. After filing I realized my omission. after searching the software found the entry in a obscure location. I have refiled today and I hope it is reassesed correctly

Needs some work
When using multiple monitors and using the second monitor and increasing text size from the default, T-slips open on the primary monitor and may not fit. Then there is no way to close the T-slips window, or return to the forms window. The only way to get out of the problem is to use Task Manager and cancel TurboTax.

Quite easy to use
Had to pay for help as CRA has not corrected the Capital Gains inclusion rate and therefore Turbo Tax's software is also incorrect. Could not get rid of warnings without speaking to a consultant.

Good, but not perfect
The optimizers are a little quirky. When only one spouse has US income, it suggests that it is optimal to carry it forward on the higher income earners return rather than claim it on the return where it is legal to do so. The medical optimizer does not check that the "optimal" claimant results in a lower bill/higher refund. It seems to blindly apply a "rule of thumb". Watch out. The pension split optimizer seems to work well.

Great product

Issue with the Turbo Tax App
I have used this app for 10+ years, but it caused me trouble this year. I wasn't able to file because the app. said the province of self employment was different the current residence. For some reason there is a problem with the data transferred from last year. It put AB for the province of Self-employment & the person lives in Ontario. I spent over 3 hrs. working with TurboTax support trying to get rid of this. The strange part is this person has never had any self employment. After 2 calls to support I was told to just wait & the app would "fix itself" Then today the support person tried many things, & still nothing worked. I was told I would have to enter everything manually. I was very frustrated with this suggestion. I was disconnected somehow, but when I called back, another agent walked me through every screen {which the previous person already did}. But his time I was able to file. Thanks to the support people but please fix this issue, before next year.

Emigrant Filing Issue
I had to start my report over, wasting hours of time. I initially completed it having marked myself as non-resident on Dec 31st. Which is correct. Unfortunately, the software flagged me as non-resident for the entire year. I was an emigrant, so part-year resident. In order to properly complete the return I had to lie and say I was resident of some province on Dec 31st. Only then did it ask me about emigration. This workflow is confusing and wastes time.
